Not for the DIY faint of heart. Go in and let your imagination run wild! All Michaels are a little disorganized in my opinion, but they’ve got that crazy/beautiful thing going on — and this location is a little more on the crazy side. Don’t forget to maximize you savings by getting the RetailMeNot app and getting one of the amazing coupons Michaels seems to have posted. You can also just search on your browser, but the app is a bit quicker.

Okay lets get it out so that the its out in the open. I am so not a closet Michael’s **ore. I am proud to say that I am part of this shopping experience. I love making things out of recycled stuff, and Michael’s has enough idea’s to push me to make things. I especially love that if you join their mailing list(hint hint) you will get coupons at times up to 50% off items or buy one get one free. Here is the clincher for you, soon all the coupons you get from the mail will cease. One of the Managers here and at another spot let me know and I for sure will tell you, get your emails in!

Got the 40% off coupon in the Trib so I decided to try this Michaels. Was a little disappointed in the selection and the way that the aisles are set up. No real organization. Kind of important when you are selling many tiny items. There are no indications of what section you are in. I can obviously tell if the whole aisle is filled with flowers but the kids sections were mixed in with picture frames and a clearance aisle in the middle of the store had no real rhyme or reason. Found a small scrapbooking tool kit marked down from $ 29.99 to 9.00 then got another 40% off so it came to around $ 6.00 with tax so that was a score. Only one checkout line was open and the store was packed. The cashier’s have only one speed. SLOOOOOW. C’mon there were about 10 other people working in the store and noone was called to open another line. Give me a break and give me some service… this store is not cheap enough to have piss poor service. I probably won’t return…

Since the city of Chicago can’t seem to get a Michael’s, I drove here for my cake decorating supplies. It’s in an older building with dark and narrow aisles. The associates were very nice and helped me find some items. However, the layout was a bit confusing and I didn’t find the selection I’m accustomed to from Michael’s. The scrapbooking paper section was ½ the size of other stores. Overall, shop here if you’re close by. If you’re driving from the city, scoot down 290 and hit up the North Riverside location.
