Sad to hear this place closed. The chef and staff here were amazing, friendly and we had some wonderful dinner and lunches at this place. Any idea why they closed or if they moved to a different location?

This use to be my favorite sushi restaurant. I’m only giving it one star now as its closed. Hoping its reopening at another location. Going to miss Tomo’s Las Vegas Roll.

The Duchess just checked in! Let’s give thanks for good sushi in Burbank… Tomo! Aside from the amazing Albacore and always fresh Salmon, I think this is some of the best Uni and Ankimo around. Always consistent and always a great time at the sushi bar. He even makes his own Tamago! Oh, and you must try the oysters! Thanks for making Burbank even better!

It’s been a year since my boyfriend and I have eaten year, but we both haven’t stopped talking about Tomo and his sushi! A year ago, we decided to go on a spontaneous weekend trip to the area, visiting Malibu beach then hitting Universal Studios the next day. When we stopped for the night, we were craving some sushi, and all the other sushi places were too crowded. We eventually made our way to Tomo’s. It’s this small restaurant, with dollar bills covering it from floor to ceiling. From the moment we walked in until we left, Tomo made us feel so welcomed! He is so passionate about being a sushi chef, and it is passed on through his delicious and fresh sushi. I didn’t have a favorite meal, because every roll I tried was AMAZING. As a ex-sushi chef myself, I was impressed and inspired by Tomo’s professionalism and love for the art. We enjoyed talking to him about Burbank and his time in the area. It was so good, that after Universal Studios, we drove back for the second night! And we were definitely not disappointed! This is when I tried the Ono sashimi. SO. DELICIOUS. 10⁄10 recommend the Ono. It is so fresh, and so delicious. We even decided to sign our own dollar bill and tape it on the wall. Both nights we spent well over our spending limits for the sushi, and we do not regret it, one bit. I am more than willing to spend over $ 100 for Tomo’s sushi. I haven’t had any sushi as good as his since then! Hopefully my boyfriend and I will be able to catch a break in our extremely hectic lives to visit again. All we ever talk about every time we eat sushi is this little sushi restaurant. I can’t wait for my next visit!

Very small sushi place but they are pretty good. The prices are reasonable compared to other sushi restaurants in the San Fernando blvd.

Tomo is amazing! We had several rolls including the caterpillar, one night stand, tiger, Vegas, and shrimp tempura as appetizer. All were delicious!!! Tomo comes to your table, interacts and makes you feel at home! He is awesome! We had SS&B(sushi, sake, and beer)!!! All were outstanding! The atmosphere is small but homey and easy to feel comfortable in! I’ll come back here any day of the week!!! Love it!

Love Tomo!!! Very welcoming environment. Sushi is superb! Fish is fresh… left our old sushi place because service left a bad taste in our mouth to say the least. Tomo made me fall back in love with sushi. Honestly I can’t understand why people give this place less than a 4 star rating. Tomo is always coming up with new creations and if you have a special request he will be more than willing to accommodate. LOVE!!!

Meh. I came here for dinner on a double date on a Friday night. The place was empty but we decided to give it a try anyways. To be honest, the quality of the sushi was less than mediocre for the price. The portions were very small. We know sushi can be pricey, but we also expect quality. The service was very great but we were just really disappointed in the rolls we ordered. The restaurant is decorated uniquely with dollars all over the walls but other than that, nothing special.

Tomo was born for this. He loves what he does and it’s evident in the way he makes his customers feel when they come to his restaurant. From the moment we sat down, he was more than a gracious host, making sure that our experience was wonderful. Come, you’ll love him.

Can’t really say too much about this place cause i’ve only come here twice but the sushi is below average, fish didn’t taste fresh and I think the ginger mightve been spoiled :(Theres not a lot of options on the menu. It’s also pretty pricey for a small sushi restaurant packed in between a bunch of other affordable restaurants in this area. The service was ok, place was pretty clean. Wouldn’t really recommend coming here, so many other places(Octopus, Kabuki) to check out for better sushi.

This place was an epic fail in my attempt to find vegetarian sushi(such a thing does exist, but just not in L.A. apparently). Passing through Burbank on the I-5 and thought I’d give it a shot because they touted a vegetarian section of their menu – great! Ordered their vegetable tempura & cucumber roll and assorted vegetarian sushi combo. The tempura was subpar and like any other sushi restaurant I’ve been to but just asked for no shrimp tempura, aka vegetable tempura. Their«assorted sushi» was okay – asparagus, daikon radish, sprouts, avocado, etc.(one of each) – but certainly very plain and not deserving of the high price. I’ve had better sushi at Whole Foods(veggie dragon roll) and it’s cheaper. Other negatives: It’s dingy inside. Parking’s a pain because it’s Burbank. Also, I was overcharged. A mistake? Maybe, but probably not. More like dishonest. Another reason not to come back.

The sushi rice is the worst I’ve ever tasted… It tastes like children’s clay There’s literally no one when I walk in during one afternoon when everywhere else is pact I got Togo sushi and I regretted it so bad

Food was alright, prices are too. The sea weed salad was great. Service is really quick. The portions for the non-Japanese food were HUgE. The dollar bills are tacky and gross. Also, the atmosphere needs work. Both the waitress and chef yell to each other way too loud causing commotion while people are just trying to have a peaceful dinner.

The service is great, very quick, but the food lacked the same excitement. The ginger looked old, and the fish did not taste fresh. The Rainbow roll failed to please my palate to say the least. As for the miso soup… probably the most flavorless Miso I’ve ever had. Food is edible, but definitely not a first choice.

No Donkey sauce here! Tomo is small, simple and successful at the basics. At the time we were trying to grab a bite before heading to a show at flappers. The sushi chef was very friendly and kept it interesting, his server side kick who was running the rest of the show solo did her thing, but could only handle one thing at a time. The soup was alright, no tofu, but it did come with a handful of seaweed. Sushi selections were Mexican, Tiger and another roll I can’t recall. For a quick bite for lunch, or to curb your sushi craving on a budget it’ll do the trick. Domo Arigato!

The three stars are directly for Tom of Tomo sushi and his amazing service(friendly and on top of things). Plus he always gives you something to try on the house! I recommend the one night stand roll and Las Vegas roll. Hands down. The flavor profile is on point. The sushi in general is okay but it is a fun and nice spot for a date night or cozy afternoon with great costumer service.

This is by far the worse Sushi place ever! I don’t understand all the great reviews… The fish was still was frozen when I ate it! That was a sign that I should of just left … However I kept ordering in hopes that it would get better… Please stay away… Horrible

I have been coming here for years and finally I got around to writing this review. Chef Tomo is super chill and will always recommend you something delicious if you ask. Their potions have been getting a bit smaller but it is still worth the money you are spending. I have been bringing friends here that say they don’t like sushi and they all have changed their mind. I have tried most of his rolls and every one of them is amazing! You will not go wrong when coming here! Anything you try you will love!

Not being a big sushi fanatic I don’t have many favourite sushi restaurants, but I do love Tomo! This location is SMALL! You can sit along the sushi bar, or at one of the few tables inside, or at the table outside. What makes this place so wonderful is Tom. He’s the best. He’s the friendliest sushi chef in the whole world! I was a regular for a while because I used to work down the street. I didn’t come in for maybe a year and a half but when I recently went in for dinner I was greeted as if only a day had passed! I always have a really nice time when I eat here. The sushi is delicious, and the service is attentive, and I have always received a «bonus sushi» as a gift from the chef. I don’t expect it and it’s always a nice surprise. Tomo Sushi is like a hidden gem on San Fernando Road.
