Zankou Chicken is probably one of the go-to’s as far as Mediterranean food. They way they prepare and season the meat is pretty amazing. I love the garlic spread! The pita bread is always nice and warm, the meat is cooked to perfection. Overall, the cleanliness of the place is pretty top notch and the prices are pretty reasonable.

This place is horrible. The only reason we came here is because Vakos Kebabs was closed. The meat was greasy, fatty, and tasteless. Now I totally understand the other review stating to go the extra mile to Vakos.

The chicken is always nice and juicy, not very fond of the rice or salad it comes with. Also the garlic sauce is good with the pita bread.

Hit or miss… most of the time though it’s a big hit. There are times they miss the ball, but it’s expected. Over all can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Tarna plate is great and if your in the mood for lule then it’s a good spot to visit if you don’t have time for shiraz or raffis.

The chicken here is average. The only thing that makes it taste delicious is the garlic sauce they provide with each plate. Customer service at this location is good and they have plenty of parking.

== 950th Review == This location is so far the nicest location that I’ve been to as it’s more new & clean looking(even though most of the bench seating is all torn). Located in Burbank Media Center, the parking here is a mess. There’s usually a line of cars waiting to get into the Starbucks drive-thru so they’re blocking the road in and out of that side of the plaza(don’t people know it’s almost always faster if you go inside?!). There’s a pretty tree in the center with seating around it and outdoor seating is also available. Still, this location is busy and seats are typically taken. Only one bathroom for each gender. *~Menu~* on 12/19/2015 –Rotisserie Chicken– #1 Whole: $ 10.50 #2 Half: $ 7.99 –Rotisserie Chicken Plates– #3 Half Chicken: $ 10.50 #4 Quarter White: $ 7.99 #5 Quarter Dark: $ 7.99 –Fresh Pita Wrap– #6 Roasted Chicken: $ 5.49 #7 Tri-tip Shawerma: $ 6.29 #8 Chicken Tarna: $ 6.29 #9 Falafel: $ 5.79 –Fresh Mediterranean Plates– #10 Tri-Tip Shawerma: $ 10.99 #11 Chicken Tarna: $ 10.99 #12 Falafel: $ 8.99 –Grilled Kabob Plates & Wraps–(allow 10min for all kabob orders) 1 Skewer Plate: $ 9.99 #13 Shish: Plate — $ 11.99 /Wrap — $ 6.99 #14 Chicken: Plate — $ 11.99 /Wrap — $ 6.99 #15 Lule: Plate — $ 11.99 /Wrap — $ 6.99 #16 Combo Plate:(any two) $ 11.99 –Salads– Garden: $ 4.99 Tahini: $ 4.99 Tabbouleh: S — $ 3.49 /L — $ 5.00 –Sides– Hummus: S — $ 3.49 /L — $ 5.99 Mutabbal: S– $ 3.49 /L — $ 5.99 Basmati Rice: S — $ 2.49 /M — $ 3.49 /L -$ 4.99 –Beverages– Fountain: Regular — $ 1.75 /Large — $ 1.85 Bottled: $ 1.85 *~Our Order~* Tarna Plate Shawerma Wrap Tarna Wrap 2 pc Falafel: $ 1.35 Small Fountain Drink: $ 1.75 My BF absolutely LOVES Zankou Chicken. We try to make a stop at one every time we go to L.A. For me, however, I think the food’s just ok. The hummus isn’t as flavorful and creamy as Oren’s Hummus in the Bay Area but it’s still good. The chicken was too dry for me but my BF thought it was good. The falafels were ok but can’t beat my favorite in the Bay Area(Falafel Drive-in). They are on the larger size though(maybe ping-pong sized?). The tri-tip wasn’t so dry so I enjoyed that better. Service is ok. Some employees were nice enough to bring trays out for customers even though this is a fast-food chain and everything is pretty much self-serve. I overhead some giving suggestions for 1st timers and checking on them afterwards if they liked the food. The employee that helped us just took our order and nothing else. They use the buzzer system for orders(whether you dine-in or have take-out).

I love the food here. Its perfect every single time. Today’s visit was better than usual. I was helped by Christina. Not only was she very sweet and attentive, she made sure I had everything I needed. Half way through the meal she came to my table while my sister and I ate and asked us how the food was and if we needed anything else. I usually go to the Zankou on riverside because the Burbank location is out of my way, but with employees like that I’ll drive the extra couple miles.

Worst Zankou experience ever. Not as good as they used to be. Chicken wasn’t cooked and beef was raw on my combo plate. Rice is mushy and not the basmati kind they used to use. It’s turning into a missed quality joint unlike its 1995 days in Hollywood.

When I lived in Los Angeles, for four years, this place was a staple of my diet. I would eat here about two times a week! Although I tried multiple things on the menu, I feel that the Zankou chicken shawarma with extra garlic sauce is by far the best thing on the menu! The friendliness and speed at which you are able to order and receive your order is absolutely amazing; especially considering how busy the place constantly is! In my opinion, this Armenian casual restaurant is a perfect eatery for those attending college in Los Angeles, as I was at the time. The food is relatively cheap, especially related to your other food options in LA! Also, the quality is consistently great and always had a shining health grade of «A» placed in the window. I would suggest that college students and others living on a budget in LA need to find their way to the closest Zankou Chicken and give it a try! The one reason that I have removed a star is: The other menu selections are really not very good when compared to the pulled Zankou Chicken sandwich with their special Armenian garlic sauce. If you live in LA or are planning on visiting, I would go out of your way to make it to a Zankou and try this ‘famous’ chicken shawarma sandwich!

So, just had a beef shawarma plate from this place and I really can’t say I am satisfied. A normal person would expect that paying $ 10 plus dollars for fast food would guarantee them some sort of assurance that the food would be good. But unfortunately not this time. Firstly, they load up the plate with vegetables and even put it under the meat making it look more then it truly is. Just that alone is pretty sad because they are fooling the customers. Second, half of the meat that they do actually give is all fat. Check out the picture to see what I mean. Don’t get me wrong not all Zankous are the same but I don’t know what’s up with this one. The workers are just doing as they are told, it’s not there faults. Until next time. Deuces.

This has probably got to be the nicest looking Zankou Chicken I’ve been to. It was fancy with lights hanging and stuff. Came here for lunch on Friday. Interior was clean and it was wasn’t busy so that was chill. Ordered food, sat down to wait for my buzzer. I ordered the same thing. Nothing cool, just the two meat combo plate with chicken and lule. It was about a 10 minute wait because I ordered the kabobs, no worries. When my food was ready, I went to the front to wait for them to pack my food. While waiting, I saw a worker with gloves standing around. The lady packing my food said something to him then he grabbed two pita breads and threw it on the oven. Right after he did that, I saw him bend down to pick up the dirty nasty slip resistant mat on the floor…(he was helping another worker who was adjusting the mat behind the counter). In my head I was praying to the Lord that he wouldn’t grab those two pita breads and put it in my bag. Thank you baby Jesus the lady grabbed a new pack of pita bread for me. I wanted to bring it up to the workers but I don’t think they would’ve cared anyway and I didn’t want to cause a scene. After seeing this, I was pretty disgusted because for sure he was handling the food and all that meat. BYEBYEBIRDY.

This is by far the best Middle Eastern spot ever! I always get the combo plate with chicken kabob and shish. OHHHH the SHISH is the shiiiznit! I wish I could eat the pita(im gluten free), because the garlic butter mmmm… So I just mix it with the basmati rice and some hummus. *homer drool**

Many friends and acquaintances have been hyping this place up… So, when I passed by it today, I figured«why not… Let’s Zankou the day up…» I stopped in and ordered the Tri-tip Schwarma, Chicken & Beef Kabob Combo, and(as per recommendation) extra, extra garlic ‘stuff’ . It is true… Smear that garlicky goodness on errythang! The chicken is very flavorful(which you can’t always say of many chicken places)… And the tri-tip and beef kabobs were really flavorful. It came with some tasty hummus to double down your smear, pita bread to wrap it all up into a morsel of delight, and some onions + other veges which I am averse to. All in all, I was impressed, and enjoyed the smörgåsbord of flavors and textures. Would recommend!

Epic garlic sauce/spread… If you’re driving up the 5 to Central /Northern California you have to stop and try Zankou Chicken. The food here is awesome. CHICKENTARNA wrap is my top choice but the shawerma is also excellent. Make sure you generously spread that(probably unhealthy) garlic sauce/spread on your pita. You’ll be thinking about this place for days, trust me. — The Burbank location is my favorite because it’s in a nice shopping center right off the freeway. Some of the other locations are in what appear to be unsavory locations, the food is just as good at those as anywhere else. — Place is as common in L.A. as Teriyaki Brothers is in San Diego. So Angelinos may not see this place as that special. But for everyone else it’s a must try! — Was also featured on the Food Network as the best food in LA by one of their celebrity chefs. Other things — I love Pickled Turnips(the pink things they include with your dish).

Zankou is a hit or miss. The chicken can be dry, the service pretty slow but it does hit the spot when you are going for wanting something different in flavor. Not a fan of the trip tip, it tastes like it has cinnamon in the seasoning, not a fan. Prices are great and I do like their garlic spread and falafel, but would not go out of my way to come back here.

BESTGARLICSAUCEEVER! Zankou is like a rite of passage living in Glendale. If you don’t know Zankou, then you ain’t a true Glendalian. They’ve spread out to different locations now, but Zankou on Colorado will always be the O.G. one. Some of the best chicken plates ever. Love this place. Love the pickles. Love the hummus. And really love the garlic sauce with pita bread. Their chicken can be dry sometimes but overall very good. Over the years their prices have gone up, but I still enjoy it time to time. Parking sucks at this location.

My husband and I were in Burbank to watch the new Avengers movie and he remembered that there was a Zankou nearby. I was craving Zankou for a week now and we HAD to go. We both ordered the Combo Plate. He got the Chicken and Shish Combo I got the Lule & Shish Combo I remembered Zankou being alot better. We both left feeling disappointed. Their prices were always a bit steep but they used to give so much and the food used to be amazing. We always used have enough for extra later… Their prices seem to have gone up and the quantity seems to have gone down. Our meal was about $ 30. Dont think I would come back.
