Mick Kelly’s was one of my favorite bars over the past two years plus, but three recent visits have really turned me away. Staff rushing to get customers out or shoo walk-in customers away right at late happy hour start time, why even advertise closing time and happy hours if not going to oblige it. Particular staff unfriendly, no listening skills, or customer service, was worried more about himself than having happy customers. Very unfortunate, to have this repeated experience, since I was willing to continue to keep going thinking it was just a bad night.

Why is this called a Irish pub? More like a hip hop club with Saint Patrick’s day decorations. Just terrible.

Went for lunch and miserable! Invest in a cook says my husband. Soup was basically bouillon. Salad was small and poor. Drinks taste like bleach… $ 20+ and absolutely rotten. Will never go back. Eat at McDonalds.

Happy Hour is Mainly for food. Sat at the bar, the bartender was accommodating to change from flour to corn tortillas on the quesadilla, which was great. Hard to eat gluten free at a pub. Music is kind of annoying — classic rock. Decent drinks. Pretty quiet at this time. 5:00.

Once again violence broke out at this place ending with three patrons shot. One in the stomach one in the foot and on unknown because he ran off. Police say that this place is known for criminal activity including assaults on local innocent people. This has become a stain on Burien and should be shut down before more people are injured. Looks like we have another Wha Longs in Burien.

Since my original review my family and I have stopped going here. What used to be the best Ruben I have ever had is now merely pub food. The service has lagged behind as well. It’s sad to say but they aren’t what they used to be.

We had a surprise birthday party here and everyone had a fantastic time. The backroom is a great place to hold a group event and even better if you are trying to surprise someone(there is a corner that guests can hide around). And love the stew, chicken pot pie and shepards pie. Lots of other great food too. Love their happy hour food menu as well.

Nice, medium-sized restaurant/pub with a fairly good-sized back room. They have about a dozen beers on tap and know how to pour them – good place for Guinness or cream ale. The food is better than average for a pub, and the happy hour makes eating and drinking cheap. The service is always friendly and good. Kids are welcome here too. A great addition to Burien!

Mick Kelly’s is hit and miss for me. First off, if you’re planning on coming on a Friday or Saturday evening, expect a wait. Sometimes the wait can be pretty substantial, especially if there’s a group that has reserved the room in the back. The service can also be on the slow side. Second, the food is inconsistent. I’ve had some fantastic dishes here, particularly the fish and chips. The pieces of fish are big(so it’s not all batter) and succulent, and the batter has a nice beer flavor to it. But I’ve also had some less than stellar dishes, like chicken Marsala with overcooked chicken and noodles and fairly bland sauce. When the food’s good, it’s really good. You just can’t depend on it. Third, the prices are just a little too high. Since I first started going, the prices have increased pretty substantially. Definitely disappointing. If you’re just looking to go out for a drink and take in a game at the bar, Mick Kelly’s would be a fantastic choice. Just don’t count on getting an outstanding meal.

This place has become a challenge to enjoy. The service, food quality and prices are disappointing.

Tried it today for lunch. Every single thing we had tasted like it came out of a box of inexpensive frozen food. Tried soup. They didn’t seem to know what they were serving. The chalkboard outside had a different type than what the waitress thought they had. So I told her either would be fine. The result didn’t correspond with either. The broth tasted like cheap bouillon cubes. The coffee was both bitter and weak. The meat pie had good crust but was lukewarm, odd since the soup was like molten lava. Had a steak dip. Tasteless and cheap tasting. Roll disagreeably soft; they didn’t toast it. Behind the bar, it looked dirty and worn. Left without eating most of it. I thought, hey maybe their specialty is drinks, but I saw several families there for lunch, which I found inexplicable.

Had a traditional irish breakfast here the other day and it was bombers. All topped off with a few Irish red brewskies

So much has changed since Adrian and Mick owned this place. The food is terrible. Smallest portion of fish I’ve ever had. The staff just walk around like there’s no order. No flavor to the food. I found something hard in my fish and chips and they still made pay for the meal. Unless you’re into hip hop on a saturday night there’s really no reason to be here. Everybody hood is gone and I dont see this place lasting much longer. Thumbs down to the new owner and what they have done to this restraunt.

My first impression was not a good one. My girlfriends had arrived early to save a seat for us and I arrived about a half hour later. I was told there was a $ 10 cover charge however my girlfriends since they arrived 30 minutes prior to me were not charged. The band had not started playing and the establishment was not full yet. The security at the door then said that they would give me a discounted rate of $ 5 and I told them no thanks and I was going to let my girlfriends know that we should leave. The bartender said that he would talk to the staff at the door and see if they would waive the charge. They did however it may be feeling comfortable accepting. I thought that the food was a bit overpriced $ 14 for basically all items on the menu. But I figured since I didn’t pay the cover charge it would balance out. We ordered different meals between us and one of my girlfriend was going to get the tip since me and my other girlfriend and I paid for the food. The bartender with the tan tweed Kangol cap followed me to the door and said I can’t believe you didn’t leave me a tip. I saved you $ 10 on a cover charge. I was shocked and appalled that this bartender did this I replied that my girlfriend was leaving the tip I could not believe that he actually followed me to the door. The last I heard tips were optional not mandatory, you do get a minimum wage and if you give good service then you deserce a tip. He should have not followed me to the door and begged for a tip. I will never recomend this resteraunt to anyone as long as they employ disrespectful bartenders that harrass customers for tips.

Stop in here a lot… mostly out of convenience. They have some kick ass drinks here, there is one, a blend of orange juice, whipped cream and vodka shaken up and served with a fresh orange slice that’s absolutely amazing. The bartender said he made it up but maybe he was just being cute. The food is like Irish comfort food meets American pub food. There is a lot of yummy options to choose from and something for almost anyone. The food is actually pretty good here. The atmosphere is usually about the same, kind of slow and always very dark and there are usually a few drunk dudes sitting at the bar having an intellectual conversation about life in the middle of the day. Its a good place to stop by if you love the Irish and are in the neighborhood!

I was SHOCKED when I read so many reviewers had experienced a similiar experience to mine. I live in Burien and love to spend my money locally, but Mick Kelly’s will not be getting anymore of my dollars, not a single Penny! I won’t attend any fundraisers or events sponsored by them either!. I will go to The Tin Room, The Mark, 909, 913 or CC’s Lounge to have FUN with my friends! Even the Hobbnobber is a WAYBETTER Experience then the way the STAFF at Mick Kelly’s makes you feel. I was HORRIFIED by the RUDE way they treated me and my sister one Saturday evening when the place was completely DEAD. There was no one sitting at any tables in the Bar, there was one small group in a booth eating and there was a GROUP of CRONIES hanging out that bar chatting it up with the Staff and supposed bouncer guy. It was so awful the way they treated us that I will just spare you the details and just say, RUDE, RUDE and RUDE!!! NEVEREVERGOINGTHEREAGAIN! DON’T GOTHERE! GOTOTHETINROOMORTHEMARK. Great Staff in so many other Burien places.

Although their french fries are AMAZING, the service at this place is why I am so hesitant to go back. I live in Burien and this place used to be really good. However, I have never experienced worse service on a slow Saturday night than I have here. I work in the industry so I typically like to give places the benefit of the doubt, but this place has become such a shitshow. Waiting OVER ten minutes just to have someone approach our table(Its a seat-yourself place) is a disaster in itself. Luckily there was one menu waiting on the table so we all were able to order everything at once. The waitress who took our order did not have a pen or paper and half of our order was wrong. At this point, we were SO hungry after waiting for our food for just under an hour, that we didnt tell her that we didnt get certain things we had ordered. No one came back for followup service and there wasnt even silverware. I actually got up and was going to ask the bartender who didnt seem to be doing anything, but found the silverware cart and got my own. I have had enough of the shitty service nights here and will not be going back, which is rather unfortunate because the pub atmosphere is nice, but the staff is awful. I hate saying it about a local business, but how long until they go out of business with a staff like this?

What what Trivia bingo! How super fun! Last night a gang of us came here for dinner drinks and trivia. I have never played trivia bingo before but that was super fun, especially since it’s random trivia so each of us had our own knowledge to contribute. I also won a raffle, but couldn’t answer the question so I didn’t get the $ 80. Ah well. Their food was really good. I had a beef Irish stew which was HUGE, and when I say huge I mean HUGE and very tasty with tender meat. The Shepard pie and pot pies looked good as did the wings, Irish nachos and the burger. All good food… plus the group I went with goes often and they said the food is almost always good. I’d say this is a good 4 stars. My only mark downs, The wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed so getting drink refills was sometimes a challenge. Three of the six of us had to order items twice because they were forgotten which was a bummer. We had to give up on the beloved bread pudding since it was forgotten then it took forever to get our servers attention.

A friend and I came in for a few beers yesterday after having a late lunch down the street. There were a few people seated at the bar and about half the tables in the restaurant were occupied. We had to wait a few minutes before the bartender took our orders but he did acknowledge us pretty shortly after sitting down, so it wasn’t a big deal. We were into the ambiance; A little dark, playing flogging molly off someone’s ipod and service that was on the friendly side of sarcastic. We got to overhear some discussions between the bartender and what I assume was the manager that they realized someone had come in, no one helped him and he walked out. It seems like maybe they have some new wait staff and they’re working through challenges, but personally if I go in somewhere that says to seat myself and no one comes by, I’d wander up to the bar before just turning around and walking out. I’m not a huge fan of Irish food, but I’d definitely swing back by for a beer because the prices were reasonable and there wasn’t a hipster in sight.
