Elite MA Center – Burke

My daughter goes to EMA Burke for their after-​school program. All the Instructors are great — friendly, welcoming — and keep us up-​to-​date on her progress. She loves to go and has made new friends, plus she gets exercise everyday through the daily class. We also took classes the summer before she started the after-​school program; they really do know each child’s name and work with each child to progress to the next belt. They are teaching the kids respect. It is a great program and I would recommend checking them out! It is not too expensive, especially for after-​school care.

We recently moved here and needed to find a place for my 9 year old daughter to continue her martial arts training. She had trained for 2 years in another style and was worried about started something new. After trying out several other schools, we found a home at EMA Burke. The staff at Burke EMA is simply amazing. Welcoming, honest, and incredibly professional. Needless to say, my daughter absolutely loves it here as do we as parents. The instructors, each and every one of them, are fantastic. They care about student learning, discipline, and respect while being very positive and encouraging. This is not a «belt factory», promotions occur when the student is proficient and they utilize a stripe system in which students earn a different colored strip in different skills (for example, fitness, attitude, sparring, forms). When they have earned all of their stripes they can look forward to testing. This not only makes sure they are well rounded in their learning, but keeps them encouraged and gives them a tangible record of what they have accomplished and what to continue working on.
I found their pricing plan to be competitive and not much different than what we were paying at our previous school. I didn’t feel pressured to sign up and we were allowed to participate in a one month (paid) trial before further committing. Martial arts has had a remarkable improvement in my daughter’s confidence. The environment at EMA is wonderful and we’re glad we found it.
