Did not have a good experience with them. I hired them. We agreed on a price and a day.(work to be done on Wed). On Tues, Chris tells me they will be coming on Thurs morning. I did not even mention the agreed date was Wed. I just wanted the painting done and just needed it done by Saturday. On Wed night @9pm, he tells me they will be there Thursday afternoon. I finally mention this is the second time he has changed the date on me. He proceeds to tell me, in an irritated fashion, the current job is taking longer than expected due to rain and increasing of the drying time. Would have been better if that was mentioned prior to him casually changing the date and time on me last minute, seeing as I am not a painter nor am I at the current job site with them thus I would have no way of knowing that. He then proceeds to tell me he needs a deposit, before he started the next day so he can go and buy the materials. Surprised me, because this was the first time he mentioned he needed a deposit. And seemed irritated with me at my reluctance to give one when we never agreed on one. Why would I ever give anyone cash to go buy materials, when I might never see my money again. Again, would have been nice if he would have mentioned he needs a deposit when he came and looked at the house, when we spoke on the phone and agreed on a price, when we agreed on a date, when we spoke for nearly a half hour the next day about colors, when he changed the date. Then maybe a better decision could have been made on how I would go about giving a deposit or even hiring him at all. He said that is how they do it in his business, but I think in any business there is a clear understanding of how money will be exchanged, not a few hours before work is to start. I sure hope thats not he always does it in his business. We finally agreed, if he bought the materials and showed me the receipts I would reimburse him. The next day at noon Chris calls me to tell me they will not be there at noon(surprise). Can I meet him and leave my keys with him since I needed to get to work. I would rather have not given him my keys, but just open the door for them and they can lock the door when they leave. He was not happy with this and finally states he has been«bending over backwards for me». I am still confused as to in which step he went out of his way for me other than when he came to my house to give me an estimate.(in which he was late for too) In the end, we parted ways without any work being done. Just me scratching my head on what he did exactly that he feels he bent over backwards for me.

Probably the hardest working painter I’ve ever met! MacArthur is truly dedicated to making you absolutely happy with his work. I came to DC to build a retail store. I actually called him in last minute and they showed up and worked whatever hours we needed to get the store finished in time. They are excellent at both staining and painting; both of which I needed. I’d recommend them to anyone looking to have a very professional job done.

Chris Conte from M & W Painters was EXCELLENT! Not only was the price for the job incredibly reasonable, but Chris and his colleague spent an enormous amount of time prepping the walls and making sure it was done right. He was clean, fast, and courteous. He even came back a second time to check on the space and do touch-ups. You will not regret using this company.

Macarthur and his team have our highest recoommendation. They met with us at several inconvenient times and listened and helped us meet our vision. He had great suggestions for how to maximize light and style. Perfect, precise, professional paint lines around all our baseboards and door frames. He worked tirelessly so we could move in on time. Very reasonable pricing for the project of our living room, dining room, den and bathrooms.
