Very cool little brewery! Was able to talk to the owner and go in a tour. If you like home brewing and what not, this is the place to go! Shows you what your home brewing could be one day! Beer is great! These guys are as crafty as it gets! Be careful if you’re buying a t shirt though. Man did that shrink like four sizes after one wash…

Excellent selection of unique beers in an intimate space, Third State Brewing continues the trend of excellent microbreweries. This was the third microbrewery my friends and I visited(the others being Broken Goblet and nearby Neshaminy Creek), so this review will be much shorter than this place deserves. We found this brewery via Unilocal and on a whim decided to cross state lines for a visit. Third State Brewing is in downtown Burlington, NJ. The street parking may be a bit interesting, but it seems to be free and we had no problem on this day getting a spot across the street. The tasting room inside is very small with a simple bar and a list of the beers on tap. They utilize a token system, so walk past the bar to the back right corner and purchase your flight tokens there($ 6.50). You can pick any four beers from the menu for your flight. We sampled two flights of beer(eight samples total), which went from the popular Red Ale to a habanero flavored one. I really enjoyed the lagers they had here and the stouts. Some of the more unique flavors are worth a taste, but I could never get a full glass. Overall, I’m really happy we made the trip to Jersey to try Third State Brewing. This is certainly a place for beer lovers seeking out unique flavors, but they also have enough variety on the menu for the more casual drinker. A must visit if you’re nearby.

Visited here on a rainy Saturday. Located in downtown Burlington, free parking on street. Walking distance from the Ruver Line. 7 brews on tap but one kicked before we got it. $ 6.50 per pint or flight of 4. Growler fills $ 16 – 19. No TVs(a good thing here.) Definately worth the trip.

First time here, was referred by a customer while I was bartending today, figured I’d swing by after work. Cool little place in the heart of downtown Burlington. Had a London Tenth Red. Nice smooth malty red, just the way I like my beer. Also had the Pumpkin Pale, which was surprisingly delicious(but without the Cinnamon/Sugar rim, although many people enjoy that). Had some interesting beers on the board, can’t wait to come back and try them.

I can’t complain too much about this brewery. I’ll admit I wasn’t hugely excited to come here — their tap list is very traditional, and I like my beers funky. However, once here I did appreciate their takes on some classics, and did even get to try something unique. The truly unique offering I had was something I’d never thought of before; a coconut infused stout. Pope-a-Nut is what it’s called and as far as I can tell it’s going to be a very limited release due to recent events in Philadelphia. To me the coconut is very subtle, it kind of just leaves a faintly ‘nutty’ aftertaste but it’s addictive. Despite using coconut this is not at all a tropical drink, so don’t go expecting that. Their pumpkin beer is also very tasty, and they even put cinnamon sugar on the rim for you if you get a glass there. The ale itself is a sweet and spicy brew, typical of most other pumpkins this time of year. I’m considering going back for a growler of it. Along with the above two beers I also had the Autumn Reprieve saison and their interpretation of a red ale. The saison I think will get better with time — it was decent, but it seems like perhaps the yeast needs to age a bit more to get a more nuanced taste. The red was decent, very malty, not something I would really go for again honestly since it was almost completely average. Overall I like this place. Keep in mind they are a very traditional style brewery when compared to most of the other breweries within this area, or maybe even the whole country, since the American market these days tends towards novelty beers. There aren’t a ton of novelties here. That being said, it’s worth a look, since most of what I had was solid. P. S. They play a lot of James Taylor here. I heard three songs in less than an hour.

Another great visit. So worth the stop. This visit offered new flavors and my hubby and I enjoyed the Pope-A-Nut porter so much we bought a growler to enjoy for the evening at the fire pit at home. Must say the pumpkin with sugar on the rim of the glass was equally delightful. Get a flight and enjoy your own personal experience!

You would never think to come to Burlington city for beer but that my friends is no longer the case. Conveniently located just a stone’s throw away from Pennsylvania and only a few miles away from neighboring breweries Village Idiot and Spellbound in nearby Mt. Holly is Third State Brewing in downtown Burlington, NJ. As a matter of fact, did you know that NJ at one time was divided into East and West Jersey and Burlington was the capital of West Jersey? Neither did I but I learned that on my visit here and Wikipedia has confirmed this fact which is all that matters. The owners and staff here are great and very friendly. My buddy and I sampled most of their beers including their blonde, pale, IPA, and stout. I really enjoyed every beer I tried especially the stout. It should be noted that although it is called Irish Tenth Stout, it is actually a Russian Imperial Stout so beware of the high ABV. It seems like Third State has some pretty cool plans for the future including putting their beer on tap at local bars/restaurants and making appearances at local beer festivals. Between their proximity to other local breweries, their great beer, and the fact that Brickwall from Asbury Park is opening a second location here, is more than enough reason to take a ride to Burlington and check these guys out!

We were really impressed, and I am fighting the urge to give them 5 stars. But I’ve only been once, and maybe 5 stars are reserved for multiple visits? We’ll definitely go back, and I’ll likely give them that 5th star: they strike me as consistent with high standards. It’s a small brewery, space-wise — smaller than a couple of other local breweries I’ve visited, but they make 6 – 7 different beers — no lagers, though. We both liked the dark beers, the porters and stouts, but the ales were quite good too(we ordered 2 samplers). We took the tour too — and honestly, it was perfect for me: short and sweet! The brewer let us sample a new peanut butter beer he’s working on, and it was really good(he was inspired by DuClaw’s Sweet Baby Jesus chocolate peanut butter porter). The location is inspiring too, if you enjoy a historic district, and get some satisfaction in helping the renaissance of a neighborhood. We viewed the new art gallery around the corner(I attempted a check-in, but it’s so new it’s not on Unilocal yet — I’ll remedy that later), took a walk to the River, and came back up High Street. It was a pretty hot day, so we worked up a thirst. The cool air in the brewery was so welcomed, but not as much as the refreshing beer! Third State doesn’t serve food(yet?) but there are a couple of restaurants nearby, so you can bring food in – or bring your own, or eat at another time. Handsomely decorated, with tables and booths, as well as stools at the bar. Staff was genuine, fun, smart, and helpful. I wish them all the best and will be back soon.

We have traveled extensively including finding our way to Belgium and Germany in search of great beer and we found it here. Third State is an outstanding craft brewery in the quaint town of Burlington, NJ across the Burlington Bristol Bridge. Every style of beer they brewed was fantastic. There is a style for everyone. Blonde, red, rye, porter, stout… We could have brought them all home but chose a growler of the pilsner style blonde which was perfect in this 90 degree weather. They open Thursday Fri evenings and Sat afternoon and evenings. While they don’t serve food, 2 local eateries will deliver so you can enjoy a lovely meal.

Great place, super brews. My favorite: 352 hIgh PA(IPA.) Nice atmosphere, good crowd. Only open Friday thru Sunday, but it’s a new place. Near the Burlington promenade and the Delaware River, nice historic district. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

First time here, so trying out the brews. You buy tokens and then hit the bar for your favorite beverage or a sampling(Flight). Nice pleasant atmosphere with a homey feel. Staff is very informative and the«Brewmaster» is at hand to talk too. Try it out. Had a great time. «London Tenth Red» is my favorite.

Would give it a five star, but I don’t hit all the breweries on a regular basis. Met the owners John, Jay and Bill… wow…they know how to craft some great beer! The Irish Tenth was as good if not better than Guinness (Lord forgive for saying that!) Stout. Dark… smooth creamy… **Warning** Bring some munchies or order food from the pizza place across the street… because some of the brews have a «kick» later on. What a really nice time. If your looking for a sports bar, pub, or a slop shoot this ain’t the place! This is all about brewing and tasting what beer should be… Hide your head in shame if you ever bought a can of PBR or admitted to friends you enjoy a cold bottle of Bud Light. Residents of Burlington City should be grateful that a classy business has taken root in the town.

Third State is one of the newest breweries to join the robust beer scene in Jersey, and they’re off to a good start. The brewery is in downtown Burlington, which seems far from the city when you’re looking at a map, but it really wasn’t bad. Plus, it’s not too far from Mt. Holly’s Spellbound/Village Idiot *and* right across the river from Neshaminy Creek, soooo it’s easy to make a full brew day out of your visit. The inside of their building looks, as you can imagine, very new. Overall, it was pretty bare bones with a massive ‘Third State’ sign and a dose of mid-afternoon sun flowing in. They use the token system here. I purchased one token for a $ 6.50 flight of four samples. They had six beers on tap and, despite the general lack of decision making needed, it was still tough for me to decide on which ones to order. In the end, I went with the West Jersey Pale, 325 HIgh PA, London Tenth Red, and Irish Tenth Stout. Of the four, the stout was my standout favorite, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what they create in a few months. They mentioned that the Red is their top seller, and it’s also a good choice. The IPA was pretty standard, and I wish I had realized the Pale was a lager because I would’ve ordered the blonde instead. Still, for a lager(my least favorite style), it wasn’t bad. They also had a black rye on tap, and my friend said she enjoyed it. Later, we overheard staff mention a tour to another group, but we didn’t inquire since we were moving on to another brewery. Overall, if you’re nearby, this place is certainly worthy of a stop.

Give this place a try, they don’t look like much on the outside, but the beer is fantastic. I have been here twice and I am stuck by how friendly the staff is. Both times I have been there, one of the owners has approached me, asked how I liked my selection and discussed brewing beer with me. This hasn’t happened anywhere else. The beer is good. Both times they have had six brews on tap. I was impressed with the Pale Ale, which uses a relatively new Australian hop(I think) and their red, which you don’t find all that often at breweries. The cost is very reasonable. The place is easy to miss, it is a small store front, but you will be doing yourself a disservice if you do.

Nice friendly staff. We had a long nice talk. Had the sampler to start off and loved all the beers on tap. Not a huge stout fan but the Irish Tenth Stout was great. One of my favorites was the Redcoat Red. Will def make this a regular place to visit on the weekends
