Good, prompt service. Beer and food… meh. Brews were nothing to write home about. Decent, but that’s about it. Generally lacking in flavor and oomph. Unremarkable overall. Food was the same. Steak, despite the locally-sourced beef, was unimpressive(and over cooked) and the horseradish mashed potatoes were cold and tasted like mildly seasoned instant stuff. Lots of potential here, but the delivery falls short.

We had high hopes because of the great reviews, but were sadly let down. I will say that the beers on tap make it worthwhile.3−4 bucks for a pint. We ordered jalapeño poppers, which tasted like they came out of a box(probably did). Steak was tough and unremarkable and toad in a hole was so-so. Prices are really good though, so it had that going for it. Public parking garage across the street is convenient. There was a wait when we left at 8 pm, but don’t bother trying to call ahead. I tried calling three times and nobody answered the phone. Wouldn’t go back again.

This place was OK. Vermont has a long way to go compared to NYC. I thought a place that has the amount of breweries and dairy would have places a little better than this. It’s kinda like a corporate restaurant/bar. Think Applebees with some local stuff.

Granted Monday night — but service uninterested — food was excellent, had the local Angus burger. Beer selection so so. No double IPA — a lot of fruit infused — food would bring me back, not beer.

The beer was beer. The food was very disappointing. Good to go for a drink, friendly and attentive waitstaff, but the meatloaf was dry, fries were definitely frozen too. Oh well! Better places to eat out there

The food isn’t great. Their burgers are pretty good usually. I think the real draw here is beer. And since I don’t drink much beer, I can’t really evaluate it on much more than the food. It’s definitely got the pub vibe down. Tourists tend to flock here. Don’t go here expecting awesome food but standard burgers and such and you won’t be disappointed. Probably a good place to go if you have to entertain a 19-year old nephew who’s into sports and beer.

I love this place, they have great food and a wonderful selection of local drinks and of course, their own brews. Last time I went I had the shepherd’s pie, and I was not disappointed. It was pipping hot and very flavorful.

Stopped to have a drink while visiting Burlington. With all the great places around to have a beer, this was OK. Food: We never ate anything so can’t judge, but we did have a few drinks. I opted for a flight so I could try out some favorites. The Stout and ESB were probably the best we had. Décor: Cool looking brewery. The bathroom was kinda grimey, but lots of seats and room to have a drink. Service: We had 3 waitresses for a flight of beer. 1 was really sweet, and the other two couldn’t have made it seem liked they hated their job more. Price: So cheap for what you are getting. Other: Nothing else to note.

Stopped here bc I wanted more authentic Vermont/local food. I got the ploughmans lunch since they were out of the cheese sampler– a lot of bread but very delicious. I also got the gravy fries which I recommend as well as a forbidden sin beer. Beer was very fruity but still enjoyed. Waitress was very helpful. Cool atmosphere.

Came here on a monday, pretty crowded had to wait 30 min for a table. Seemed like they needed another server working. The bathroom smelled terrible… Like a soapy fart kinda… The food was decent, the lady got shepards pie and enjoyed it thoroughly i got the 10 oz sirloin with bearnaise and garlic mashed. The steak was cooked perfectly but it wasn’t seasoned and niether was the mashed, which had a bit of a crust from sitting under the heat lamp. I got the black velvet drink and that was fantastic girlfriend got the Octoberfest and she liked it. Overall good experience, could have been better.

I have mixed feelings about VPB. Great location, food and service is decent, but doesn’t exactly have me wanting to go back anymore. The first two times I came here was a few years ago for team gatherings of around 10 ppl and I remember very little outside of our table conversations. However the last two times I’ve been weren’t impressive either. Five months ago my co-workers came to check out their late night menu. We ordered cheese fries, sweet potato fries, wings, popcorn shrimp and satay chicken. All tasted like typical fried food you can find anywhere, applebees or the fair… The prices are alright, but nothing stands out. Give me more flavor! A month later, after hearing Bernie Sanders launch his campaign by the waterfront, another friend wanted to check out their dessert menu! So we got the chocolate brownie(my friend’s fav dessert in the world) and the cheesecake. When it all arrived we scooped into our desserts, into our mouths… I just remember my friend and I looking at each other disappointed that it was lacking some chocolate umph to make it one of a kind. The cheesecake was on the mild side and doesn’t taste like it should cost $ 7 a slice. I have yet to try any of their beers because I’m still working on my potential alcohol allergy. So this review is just on their food and service. It’s an alright place but nothing spectacular. They should play around with their ingredients more!

Ate dinner here last night with my family who are in town visiting and I’m glad we went to VPB. Our waitress was a total sweetheart and accomodated all seven of us really well! She was very attentive and had great(and genuine) suggestions on what we should try! The jalapenos poppers with their jalapeño sweet and sour sauce was perfect and I really enjoyed my fish sandwich. For Burlington, you really can’t beat the prices and I can’t wait to go again!

Not a fan. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing(veggie Reuben and onion rings — the rings were amazing, but super greasy, the reuben, eh so-so). Maybe I ordered the wrong beer(V.I.P.A — this was just bad, sweet and somewhat flat/warm maybe they gave me the cask by mistake? the cask of bad beer). Maybe It was an off day or our server was hungover(waitress was clearly rushed and annoyed with us the whole time) Whatever it might be I can’t say much for this place. Its affordable though. And the rings were good.

First and foremost the beer is excellent as it should be. The original microbrewery in Burlington that started the insane Vermont craft brew scene. They always have around 10 beers that are brewed in house on tap. I think that you can find better beer across the street at Zero Gravity, but you have to respect this place for it’s historical influence on the Burlington beer scene.

Buzzed us when our table wasn’t ready. Wouldn’t fill an unmarked growler. And gave me a menu that is covered in crayon drawings. Worst experience I’ve ever had here. From their growler label: «Our deposit growler is a good value for you, and good for the environment.» If Vermont Pub and Brewery cared about the environment they’d let me fill the unmarked growler for the same price as their growler + the deposit.

The Vermont Pub and Brewery is a place with some serious craft beer history. This is a must visit if you come to Burlington as they were one of the pioneers of re-booting the craft beer revolution, which is becoming more and more popular. It should also be noted that we may not have The Alchemist if it weren’t for the VPB as Greg Noonan is the one who gave John Kimmich his first brewery job. If you haven’t understood anything I’ve written up to this point, that’s ok. If you have, then I owe you a beer! Anyway the VPB sits right in the heart of Burlington and offers up a long list of craft brewed beer and pub grub. I’ve heard great things about the food and would love to come back one day to try it. The beer was OK on my visit but nothing that I could recommend going out of your way for. It was a very hot day on my visit and the list just wasn’t doing it for me. I would’ve liked to have seen some Pales, IPAs, or even a Saison but instead was greeted with a Mild, Bitter, Berliner Weisse, and a mediocre Pale Ale. Needless to say, the VPB is worth a visit solely for the fact that it has played such a big role in revolutionizing craft beer in VT and the U.S. I hope to return some day and when I do, I plan to try the food and see what’s new on tap!
