Cozy place, clean and food is ok. It’s billed as Mexican food, however in my opinion it’s nothing more than grilled American. Very little spices, the beans, salsa and chips are all straight out of cans or jars. The Spanish rice is plain old rice with a bit of chicken stock. I ordered the Mexican cornbread, which was frozen and then reheated, it was also burnt and unedible. My partner had mixed fajitas, which is probably the only good thing on the menu. However all the side dishes served with the fajitas were plain, and was a waste of space on the table. This was obviously a place for the locals, and as we weren’t local, we were 2nd class. I think what really set me off was what the server said«we make Mexican food here and there isn’t a Mexican around.» He actually laughed at his remark. My response to him is this: you should really hire a Hispanic person to teach you and the rest of your staff how to cook Mexican food. I will never eat here again, the food was ok, service lousy.

Oh my lord! We have been eating at Iorn Cactus for years now but never ever have I branched out beyond my standard«fajitas». This has been the worst mistake to not explore their menu! Pulled pork taco were so amazing I HAD to go back the very next evening and repeat! For the smaller portion of highly recommend the Cactus Roll add slaw! So SO delicious! Great job for a wonderful family owned business two times up top! This place does not disappoint. #eatlocal

Best hole in the wall Tex-Mex, and really the only edible non-fast food, non-pizza option in Calhoun. Their fajitas and quesadillas are cooked to order and by far the best items on the menu, but the stuffed avocado and the Mexican pizza are definitely worth a try.

Past experiences have been good and food great. But tonight the man handling seating skipped over my family at least 5 times. After waiting 45 minutes or longer, I checked the waiting list and saw that at least 5 names below ours had been scratched thru. When I confronted the guy, he said that he had came outside and called our name and we didn’t answer. Well we were outside the door the whole time and I only saw him come out once and he called out«Amy». He wasn’t accountable for his mistake and tried to shift the fault to us, the customer. Although he did offer to get us a table immediately, he did nothing more to reconcile with us. I don’t expect a free meal, but offering a complimentary appetizer would have been a nice gesture of good will. I won’t bet going back.

Extremely overrated. If you aren’t a regular, you’re a second class citizen. Decent food. Locals love it. If you aren’t one, avoid.

Great food. Loved the Mexican cornbread & pork enchiladas, but wasn’t expecting BBQ in enchiladas. Must be consistently good because there was a line, when we left, that could’ve filled the restaurant 4−5X.

This is definitely my new favorite place in all of North Louisiana. I’ve been on the hunt for some food with actual tasty flavoring, rather than most of the mediocre stuff I’ve been having of lately. A lovely friend recommended this place as «the best Mexican around» so I had to go! I should’ve known when there was no parking and a wait on a Thursday at lunch, that this would be excellent. We had the baja fish tacos and lunch shrimp fajitas, both were so good we couldn’t pick a favorite. The portions were heaping and the lunch meal came with a sweet tea. Everything tasted so fresh and salty, just like Mexican should. And the fajitas come with the best garlic butter to drizzle on top and the onions are cartelized to perfection. I surely can’t wait to go back. And the best part was that the service was wonderful, our waitress kept apologizing for the wait and crowd and busy status of the place. I wouldn’t have changed a thing and I’m already excited for my next visit. A must visit!

Very busy restaurant that had slow service. Food was just ok for my family. We made special trip to eat there and we were disappointed overall. I doubt we will be back.

Excellent! Delicious, fresh Mexican food. I had the chicken quesadilla. quesadilla was perfect. Others at the table had the fajitas and enchiladas. Definitely a place that I will revisit. The place is so popular that by 630 there was a wait. Go early.

The fajitas are good, and the Mexican Cornbread is incredible! You’ll probably have to wait, but the service is usually pretty good.

First time at Iron Cactus, but it won be our last! The fajita meats were excellent! Chicken, shrimp & steak. Large portions and moderately priced. Be sure & top off your meal with the fried cheese cake. We had strawberry & chocolate toppings. Service was also good!
