Wine is amazing! It was my birthday celebration and my friends suggested we go to see Ralph. They wouldn’t say anymore but you must have the full experience. We pulled up to the vineyard and walked in and we waited for 20 seconds or so till an older gentleman greeted us warmly at the entrance of the tasting room. As we introduced ourselves and I heard opera playing in the background and noticed stunning painting on the wall by a local artist. Ralph corked a 2008 Cabernet and we began tasting. The wine AMAZING and the friendly and intriguing atmosphere was magnificent! I bought my special bottle and it was signed on spot by the wine maker himself. in gold. Cheers to an amazing Experience!

Ralph’s winery is a small operation. His wine is handcrafted. He began with a PhD in Biology and as a physician. For the last 32 years he has been a winemaker. Ralph is totally charming and he makes great wine. I have known him for 30 years. There is no one like Ralph! He is open from 1 to 4 pm only… It is the only winery in Napa Valley(700+) that does not have a website and his phone may or may not be working. So show up and treat yourself to a fabulous place and a great guy who makes fabulous wine.

Ralph is a great guy and makes a really tasty cab! Highly recommend if you prefer small authentic wineries over large commercial ones.

We visited this winery because we wanted to try the Calistoga local winery, unlike the commercialized wineries selling any kinds of wine. It was a great choice !!! The owner was very very friendly, as he starts to share all his experiences in wine making. He is the man truly making the good vins, and has been doing this for all his life. They only have one kind of Cabernet Sauvignon. And it’s good enough to attract visitors :)) also very affordable. if u want to get a cozy experience in Napa and interested in wineries story, go to visit him ! He will welcome you with warm smile and signature Cabernet!

I mean this with the upmost respect, but going here is like stepping back in time. The owner/winemaker/tasting room host Ralph is really cool and has been there for 30 years. It’s exactly how I imagine Napa being a couple decades ago. He makes only one wine, a few hundred cases of Estate Napa Valley Cab Sauv, It is $ 25, which is one third of what it would cost elsewhere(be sure to get his autograph!). Even if you can’t take a bottle with you, it’s a $ 3 tasting fee! If you need a break from the Vegas Strip like wine palaces, do yourself a favor and drop by this place.

Love Ralph and his winery. Its a completely different Napa winery experience. Ralph is as down to earth as they come. We were up there once and he actually provided us with chocolate and cheese nibs to eat while tasting. The tasting room has character and cobwebs, and rarely do you get to spend a few hours talking to the actual wine maker about everything from wine making, marriage and the local news. When the sign says open, Ralph’s pouring. He may be in the field when you drive up, so if he’s not in the tasting room attached to the house, give the car horn a quick beep and he’ll be there shortly.

Rustic, real, independent, this man who runs the Racho de las Flores is the man. His name is Ralph and he is the owner, producer, and gifter of this fine Cabernet. It’s on the cheaper side and it’s a little webby inside the tasting room, but don’t be fooled by this demeanor because he knows exactly what he is doing. Dare I call him a wine engineer but I think he is a genius. I tried a $ 148 bottle of Cabernet from Schramsberg and it was so flat and boring compared to this $ 25 bottle. Ralph’s wine was climatic, sweet, deep, and had a non oak taste which is so rare to find. Even some of the best wines out there have that vanilla smell and taste and sometimes I wonder what it is you’re really paying for the wine itself or the name? A wine that has it’s own depth and layers in flavors non oak related should stand out and sing on your palate the way his does. Tasting is only $ 3 and it’s quite a unique experience and a delicious wine.
