Came from out of town and was told the food here was good. I requested my pork and noodles without sauce and the kid who took my order said they could do that. I Watched her write down without sauce on the ticket, I have a gluten sensitivity and figured the sauce was soy based and I would be able to eat the pork without sauce. When our order came, the sauce was covering the meat, obviously marinated in it. When questioned, the owner was nasty and said that the meat is all marinated and they could not accommodate. She said the sauce did not have soy, but could not confirm if it had gluten in it. If I had known my request could not be accommodated, I would have gone elsewhere. Annoying because I am very clear up front and they are not upfront with you. If they had simply said they could not do sauceless, we would have gone elsewhere. You pay right after ordering before receiving your food, so you can not refuse to pay for food that you don’t want to eat. Would not recommend to those who enjoy good honest service as part of their eating experience. Would just love to be able to know what is in my food.

Food is great. But the service is not. I’ve gone three times, but gave up on attempt 2 and 3 as the wait was just too long. Tried the one in Honesville and Calicoon. I hope it does well and that more staff can be added!

So glad this opened! Banh mi(pork lemongrass) was perfect– the baguette had the right soft/crispy balance. Husband had the beef on vermicelli that looked amazing. We also had the summer rolls– excellent, and I had the Vietbamese ice coffee. Adorable– I’ll definitely come back here!

Not what I was expecting to find on this little town but the food was great. This place however deserves a high review because the owner was so nice and accommodating. If you’re sick of a burger and want a tasty sandwich with great bread and Kim chi I’d give this place a go.

Stopped by late yesterday for take away. The two workers were very nice and helpful. The food was great. This is a little gem in the adorable Callicoon hamlet.

Amazing to get a vietnamese sandwich in Callicoon! The owner loves herself a bit and it ain’t cheap but its a great addition to the neighborhood. Tasty sandwiches and authentic vietnamese coffee. Count me in!(Just wish it stayed open later)

I am a chef, graduate C.I.A, my wife is Vietnamese. We live in Vietnam, but visit upstate NY during the summer. As a chef, I am quite disheartened that so many people rated this place as good. It makes me feel like what I do does not really matter since there are so many people with a non-discerning taste for food. This place at best was terrible. Nothing that could be called Vietnamese food. We waited over 40 minutes to get 2 Banh Mi, which does not fit the profile of a Vietnamese Banh Mi in any way, shape or form. Ridiculously overpriced, at $ 19 and change for both sandwiches. Perhaps the fact that it is a new kid on the block, it is getting some play, but I do not see any longevity for this restaurant. This is a definite, don’t waste your time here. Remember, you were advised. Hi Nhi, Nothing personal about my review, just what I believe to be an honest review. Your staff told me the wait would be 15 minutes. If I knew it would be 40 minutes I would not have waited. There was nobody outside waiting to be served as they all had their food. While you say you are not a fast food restaurant, there is no restaurant that you would wait 40 minutes to get your food. That being said, you should re-evaluate the way you are running your kitchen. That is constructive criticism. You can do with it what you like. I am not looking for a refund as you are entitled to get paid for your labor. If in fact your sandwiches are as you say, $ 7.95, then why was I charged $ 19.49 for two Banh Mi Thit Bo? Actually, there is no possible formula for that price. That would make the sandwich $ 9.02 each? Hmmm.

Craving Vietnamese food in the Catskills – usually a sad tale of unrequited love – we drove over to Callicoon today from our weekend place in Livingston Manor to take a chance on a new spot, Ba & Me, that we saw mentioned on our favorite Catskills real estate blog. So glad we made the drive to Callicoon! My wife, who is Vietnamese-American, and I both grew up in Houston, spoiled by the abundance of amazing Vietnamese food down there. I subsequently worked in Vietnam for several years in the 90’s. So we know & appreciate authentic, fresh, delicious Vietnamese food at a fair price, which is exactly what we found at Ba & Me. Hands down best banh mi sandwich I’ve had in a long time, and I regularly search them out in NYC. Mouthwatering grilled pork and vermicelli noodles. Could have devoured a dozen of the fresh summer rolls. The iced coffee alone would have been worth the trip. We left very happy and full, with no doubts whatsoever that we’ll be back again for more. Ba & Me is another great reason to love Sullivan County.

I went here for lunch on a Thursday and I thought it was very good. The 2 workers were very pleasant and although we did wait for our food for a little while, it wasn’t too long. I ordered the pork sandwich and my co-worker order the pork noodle bowl. Both were very good for a decent price. I would definitely return.

This review is based purely on the fact that I would’ve had to wait 1 hour to be served one Bánh mì sandwich. You have two young kids working behind the kitchen who really don’t know how to run a business on their own. This is a problem when you’re not serving customers during a busy holiday weekend. They were clueless about how to manage more than 5 orders at once. They actually posted a note on their window stating that their kitchen was not taking anymore orders, and that they are backed up for an hour. The overall concept and idea of this sandwich place is great. Who doesn’t want fresh, organic Vietnamese sandwiches? The problem is that the execution was not well thought-out. You can be as trendy as you want to be with your signage and menu, but you need to figure out how to accommodate customers looking for a simple sandwich or noodle dish. I won’t be waiting one hour for something so simple. Poor planning leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
