I went to Christine about 2 ½ weeks ago. She did a great job and was quick. She pays attention to the shaping. I think she uses quality products compared to the other shops out there. my nails had minimal lifting andnone came off AFTER2 ½ weeks. Something worth mentioning is no clear coating and no lights to bake your nails under. She uses some kind of high powered nail buffer and cream and my nails come out shiny and the shine stays just like a clear coat and ‘no dry time’. They are pricey though for a fill(IMO) $ 30 for pink/white but it is worth it. I have found my nail salon.

I came across Ken the Hairman after I got a butchered haircut from the local craptastic sam’s. I typically go to the base where my usual barber is but I was lazy to drive to port Hueneme. Big mistake. Anyway, I called Ken after getting the worst haircut of my life and as a testament of the good stock he has with his customers, was totally booked for the day. He told me he’d accomodate me though and take me in late that night. Fortunately, one of his clients cancelled and Ken actually called me up to let me know he can take me earlier(very professional). I gotta tell you, this guy’s the real deal. He salvaged what he could from my haircut earlier that day and actually got it to looking good again. Totally reminds me of when my grandfather would take me along to his barber, where he’d spend at least an hour there just shooting the breeze while on the chair, the barber takes his time and uses hot shaving cream and a straight razor to clean you up. You can tell Ken knows what he’s doing when it comes to cutting men’s hair. Albeit a bit pricey, I am most definitely returning to see what he can whip up after I grow my hair back out to it’s usual length.

New to Camarillo, it has taken me 8 months(of average to really bad haircuts) to finally find Ken. I have never been a big fan of making an appointment for a guy’s haircut. I tend to be the walk in. After only one cut from Ken… I’m sold. He is a pro and is worth scheduling. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I enjoyed the guy to guy conversation while witnessing his professional craftsmanship. The compliments I have received will keep me coming back.

Have you ever had a real barber experience? Sorry, Supercuts is not a real barber experience. It has become rare in our society and a lost art. A place where you know your barber by name, he yours, and you both know each other. No talking about the weather, but real guy talk about each other and sports. Yes, you can say it is Hank Hill like, but if you ever get a real barber experience you will never go back to those supercuts guys. Well Kenny of HAIRMAN is that guy and he is right here in little old Camarillo. He can cut like no other and make you look like a REAL gentleman. He makes you feel comfortable right off and is the MOST professional barber I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He still uses a straight razor for finishing and has one of those old heated foam machines that despenses that soothing foam. It feels so relaxing when he applies it to your side burns and neck. One thing to remember about a real baber experience, don’t think it will be an in and out in a 15 minute affair like the Supercuts of the world. It will be about an hour. Make sure you make an appointment, you may be waiting a long time if you just show up. I drive 6 hours back to my old hood, Camarillo, to have a great Barber Experience. If you experience Kenny, you too will know the real treat he affords his clients. Something lost on today’s world. And, don’t be afraid to tip the guy. I don’t mean like the $ 2 you give the 22 year old gal at Supercuts, but $ 5−10+. Kenny takes the time with his clients to really get to know them and give them a real great hair cut that will impress. He deserves more than the quicky butch cut you get from the chain places.

This review is for Ken, the men’s barber. I just moved to the area, read Brian’s review and decided to try Ken. After just 1 visit I can say Ken is the best barber I have had yet. He sized me up right away and gave me a better cut the first time, without any real direction from me, than my barber of 9 years back in Chicago. His price is more than reasonable for what I call full service treatment.(hot shaving cream, straight razor, touch up the ears and brows, etc.) He’s got all the clippers, scissors and shears a great barber should and knows how to use them. He works to accommodate his customers and make them happy. He has men’s magazines to read, flexible hours(makes his own appointments and will stay late or try to accommodate you on almost any day), great stories and jokes, and even helped me find some good restaurants thing things to do. The shop is clean, new, and well-kept. You just can’t get steered wrong by someone with a handlebar mustache! I look forward to my next visit and highly recommend him!
