1847 Guest House

If you find yourself up Cambridge Way, either for a lovely summer weekend on the lake, to visit the racetrack, or to see the leaves turning, call Ed at 1847 Guest House. The lovely converted schoolhouse (yes, built in 1847!) is a two bedroom cottage with a lovely kitchen (gas stove). The décor is eclectic, and Ed has a collection of antiques in his garage that he’s willing to show (and sell, if you’re interested!)
The cost of lodging there was literally HALF as expensive as the cheapest places nearby — we paid $ 70 a night, and off season small rooms at Rice Mansion were $ 140 a night for something way smaller. On top of that, Ed has a paddleboat as well as a dock and life-​vests that are completely available to guests.
Stellar, stellar place, very local, and very little known. I highly recommend it. Thanks for a wonderful weekend, Ed!!!
