If you’re in the Boston area and want your framing done perfectly by a staff with a deep knowledge of their craft, A Street Frames is the place to go. I have been a framer myself for nearly 30 years, and they always have a solution to every challenge I give them. My hat is off to you, ASF!

I am writing this review because, after utilizing several Boston area framers over the years, I can say with certainty I would never use anyone other than A Street Frames. They are extremely diligent with regard to customer satisfaction and are amazing craftsmen as well. I only recently realized they make all the frames on-site at the Cambridge location. This includes milling a wide variety of wood, welding steel and aluminum as well as gold leaf expertise. I was actually taken on a tour and could not believe all that they do! I feel it’s important to support quality products made in the US as much as possible as well as refer them to others. I also feel that frequenting businesses like A Street Frames helps to support the local small business community! After all, everything we use can’t and should not be made in China! A Street Frames is a business deserving of this support across all measures including quality of product, service, craftsmanship, timeliness and price. They are extremely accommodating with regard to any necessary changes as well as delivery service. They will brainstorm with you about your piece as they want you to leave a satisfied customer. After all, this is how small businesses survive and thrive. Apparently they have been around for 30+ years so they must be doing something right! They are also excellent at designing solutions for problematic artwork or idiosyncratic pieces. Overall, A Street makes a product superior to anything out there and is highly worthy of all business that comes their way!

I can’t believe this place doesn’t have a review! I’ve been to probably a dozen custom framing shops in my life — A Street is far and away as good as it gets. This is a review of the one in Cambridge, I think they have other locations, but I’ve never been to any of those. Here’s the deal… Service — the two ladies that work at A Street are probably the sweetest most amazing people I’ve ever interacted with in a retail setting. They don’t rush anyone, they help you make good framing decisions, and they genuinely love art and framing and making customers happy. I’ve been there three times in total, and these ladies know my name, they remember who I am, etc. Prices — custom framing is expensive. I don’t exactly know how these guys«stack up» because it’s a very difficult service to comparison shop. My guess is these guys are a little more expensive than your average framing shop. I felt VERY well treated with regard to price. Quality — A Street is a very rare bird. They actually make many of their frames in house… so they are actually a TRUE custom framer. This means that they actually modify and create frames from scratch all the time. I just brought in a painting that was an odd size, and they are going to mill out the rabbit so that it fits perfectly into the back of the frame! Go ask a regular«custom» framing shop to do something like that and they will look at you like you have three heads. These guys suggested it to me! The frames they stock are top notch, many are made in-house. A Street supplies to other framers as well… so they havea manufacturing arm. Timeliness — Sooo if you are in a huge rush, I’m not sure this is the place for you. I wouldn’t know since I’ve never actually asked them to rush anything. I generally am cool with waiting several weeks or longer. Long story short, in my opinion, this is a place that values quality and execution over price and speed. The people are exceptional, the work quality is amazing(I think I am having my tenth thing framed with them), and you will be extremely pleased. I would run, not walk, here.
