Emily Sterne Photography

We first met Emily in 2012, when we selected her as our wedding photographer. On our wedding day, she was sweet, supportive, and unobtrusive. Her pictures were amazing and we receive compliments to this day about how great they turned out. Now that we have a baby, we asked her to take pictures since she now primarily photographs children. We set up a time to do the pictures but due to a miscommunication on our end (my wife sent an email changing the meeting time to me by mistake instead of Emily), Emily ended up traveling and waiting for us, and we didn’t show up. She was so gracious and kind about the whole thing. We rescheduled and the pictures turned out FANTASTIC once again! Even though our little nugget wasn’t in the best mood, Emily still managed to capture beautiful photos where his little personality shined. Highly recommend!

Emily did a photo shoot of my sisters and I as a gift for my mom. I cannot begin to describe how great she was and how amazing the photos came out! At the shoot Emily was so relaxed and sweet it made it so easy to take pictures. She had such great ideas and knew exactly what she was doing when it came to poses and lighting. Emily was always easy to reach over email and answered all questions I had regarding the photos and buying prints. I would definitely use Emily in the future and recommend her to anyone looking for amazing photos without spending a fortune!

We were looking for someone that we could use for 1 – 2 hours on our special day, that wouldn’t charge us a full day fee (anywhere from 3−6k). To be perfectly honest, I was getting a little frustrated, not being able to find someone that could fit our needs, budget, and honestly, personality preferences. The only other people I knew that did photography were booked up that weekend, so I was a bit down about the whole thing.
And then, I stumbled onto Emily. I found Emily through
where she had done a 1 hour shoot for a couple in Boston Common. That was basically identical to what we had envisioned! I contacted her, told her what we were looking for, and she asked to set up a meeting. AND, she’s in the next town over from me. This was starting to perk me up a bit.
I went to her home, we chatted, I looked through books of previous weddings she had done, and her laid back demeanor was PERFECT for our really easy going, 8 person wedding in the Arboretum.
I can’t tell you how amazing it is to find someone that is easy going and professional, that takes photos that really capture the moment (quirks and all), gets RAINED ON for an hour, doesn’t complain one bit, and produced the best photos I could have hoped for. I also can’t tell you what a relief it is to not have to worry how the photos will come out, if the person is dependable, or any of that stuff because I knew off the bat that she’d come through, and she did in spades. Instead, I could worry about other things (like where my dress was…)
I can’t recommend Emily enough, and am plotting other things I can use her skills for going forward! Please, Please, Please, do yourself a favor, brides — you have enough to worry about. Don’t let your photographer be one of them. If you’re in Boston, call her, seriously.

Emily is great, and we were very glad we chose to work with her. It’s absolutely true that she takes superb photos (we’ve gotten tons of compliments on ours), but it’s also true that she is a smart, friendly, relaxed person who’s great to have around on your wedding day. And that, I realize in retrospect, counts for just as much.
