Kiyo took a lot of time to understand what I wanted and make sure I was happy with my cut, and the price was reasonable. I’ll definitely be back.

I desperately needed a haircut, and read the positive reviews of this place, so decided I’d take a chance. So glad I did! She was able to fit me in the same day, and was enthusiastic and knowledgeable both about the cut I wanted and ways I could style it. Definitely coming back here for my haircuts from now on!

She did a good job, am more or less satisfied with the cut. However, just feel the price is ‘eye-gougingly ’ high — $ 33 — for my taste. Plus a $ 2 tip? $ 35 haircut is not, was not in-line w/my expectations. Likely will not return, again she was fine but her prices are simply too high.

Kiyo is straight and to the point. I would give her 5 stars. She is skilled in men’s haircuts. My cut, a female cut was shorter than the picture I brought in, but I don’t hate it! The place could use some cleaning, remodeling, and more staff.

My regular hairdresser was sick, but I needed a cut. I snagged an appointment with Kiyo, and she gave me an updated cut that has debuted to rave reviews — and she’s quick and efficient. This leaves me with a conundrum…

Kiyo is a tough Korean woman, can be hard to understand if you aren’t fluent in Asian-English accents, but this lady knows hair. She’s amazing. She has an eye for how hair should look on your head. This is a no frills, no hugs, no pampering kind of place, but you’ll leave looking awesome.

I’m two weeks + out since my haircut with Kiyo, and I am still loving my hair every time I look in the mirror. I love it! I have curly hair, and perhaps it’s difficult to cut given the past two miserable cuts I received at other salons prior to finding Hair Collage. Kiyo listened really well, and checked in occasionally during the cut to make sure it jived w/my idea of what we’d discussed. I have total faith in her knowledge of what works. I believe she used Morrocan Oil product on my hair, which I love. Highly recommend!

I came here only one time. The haircut I got was decent enough, but what turned me off was Kiyo telling me repeatedly(at least 5 times) what she thinks I need to do with my hair. While I certainly appreciate advice and honesty, I don’t appreciate having someone I just met insisting and pushing her opinion on me.

My husband just got the best haircut here! Thank god. He needed it! He had two terrible haircuts at another salon in Harvard Sq and there was no way he could go back for a third. So I searched and saw all the good reviews here and decided to try it. Hubby will be back and maybe I’ll go next time! Very impressed with the work and less expensive than that other salon too.

Kiyo really knows how to cut hair. She’s very thorough and I always leave her salon very satisfied. She really knows how to give a nice shape to stubborn hair and make it go well with your face shape. I highly recommend her. She’s a lot of fun to talk to too!

Kiyo is the BEST! I hadn’t had a haircut in about a year and she took the time to make my hair look fabulous! Kiyo is extremely knowledgeable about hair and if you are Asian like me I would highly recommend seeing her because it is clear she has experience with different Asian hair types. Besides probably the best haircut I’ve had in my life I also really enjoyed talking to Kiyo. She is not only HILARIOUS(kept saying cutting my hair was like cutting a tree because it was so darn long) but she is also very refreshing/honest and gives great advice on hair AND life. I will certainly be returning to Hair Collage in a couple of months and I should bring my husband sometime for a haircut as well. P. S. Barry B your review is hilarious.

This is my haircut place(for at least 10 years and running). Kiyo has excellent professional skills as well as an entertaining personality. I feel very comfortable letting her do her stuff on my hair and not worry about how it’s going to look. It always turns out great and stays great even through growth. The only gripes I have is that I can only make it there every couple of months(I don’t get haircuts often), but if I do find myself in need of one it’s pretty easy to schedule one(I just hope the positives reviews will not make the place too popular).

Omg. Omg. At some point in my life I’d basically accepted that what I wanted my hair to look like and what it was possible for my hair to look like were always going to be at odds… and never the twain shall meet. :(After every haircut I’d be like«oh, awesome» but think«oh…if only». Not anymore. After not being able to look directly at mirrors for a good month or so because of how ratty and overgrown my last haircut had gotten, I finally decided to venture out again and do some intensive Unilocal canvassing for my options. I’d been burnt before by a place in Boston that had ~*~*amazingggg~*~ reviews but ended up being probably the worst cut of my life, so I was. Tense. Cautious. Terrified. But. But. It ended up being totally perfect. I had my cut with Kiyo, who must literally be a wizard because she’s done what no other stylist ever could: given me my perfect dream cut. A beautifully textured dramatic side bang that’s just the right length with well-defined, cascading layers that blend well but still give movement… I’m in love. (Also, in case it helps anyone — I’m white and have very fine, super straight hair.)

I discovered Hair Collage by accident in 2001 or so, and was very happy with the result. I think it was the first time I got a good haircut on the first try… :) I’ve been going there ever since, and the haircuts has been very consistent over time. (and, as people pointed out in other reviews, Kiyo manages to be good while being fast as well

I would give it a 4, but the hairstylist actually left my hair looking like a mess. My hair is really curly and black. I wanted highlights and a trim and for to be styled straight. K. did a great job in making sure my highlights showed through and did it twice for me, but she did not know how to straighten my hair nor did she have any intention in doing so. I respect that stylists have an opinion on how a persons hair should be, but if i want my hair straightened and will pay for it then I think you should do it.

I checked Hair Collage out after doing some Unilocal-research about 8 months ago. Kiyo is absolutely fantastic, and I’ll probably keep coming here as long as I’m in Cambridge. Every time I go back she just does a fabulous job: understands how hair will fall, gets to know her regular customers’ styles, and always open to try something a little more funky. You don’t need an appointment, but calling ahead is a good idea.

We came in here with an emergency. I had(mistakenly) taken my boyfriend to a barber shop around the corner, and, well, you get what you pay for. Needless to say we slapped the Sox cap on and ran out the door. We saw the inviting doors of the Hair Collage and dashed in. I don’t think Kivo understood the seriousness of the situation until we pulled off the cap. Her response: priceless. «OHHHHHHHH!!! NOOOOO!!! SOBAD!!» She then ran to the back and got everyone in the salon to come see the horribleness that was sitting atop my boyfriend’s noggin. They pushed him into the chair, repeatedly saying«so sorry, so sorry. I dont know if I can even FIX this.» Snip, snip, apologize. Repeat. After 30 fretful minutes, I looked up. MAGIC! His hair had been transformed from what looked like the result of a drunken fraternity party to a beautiful spiky style. Not only did they save him, they gave him the look he could never have found on his own(he has really, really straight hair. Like an asian person, as we learned. But they have cut my naturally curly hair wonderfully as well, so no worries there!) Hooray!

I’m a pretty simple person when it comes to hair. I don’t color or perm my hair or anything, and just want a wash, cut and style. What I really like about Kiyo is that she’s really fast at cutting my hair, and does a good job, too. I have a lot of hair on my head, and sometimes hairdressers take a while cutting it all – not Kiyo. It’s a major bonus that she understands Asian hair, and could tell me what would work with my hair and what wouldn’t. She’s kind of blunt person, but still pleasant. She also seems to remember her customers well – she recognized me even when I hadn’t stopped in her salon for several months(and I never call in advance, I always just walk in).
