The food is good but the service is awful. Both times staff have all been gathered or dining at sushi bar. You are made to feel like a crasher at their party. If you need something, they are too preoccupied enjoying their dinner to help.

The lunch meals are probably the best deal here, my favorite is the chicken teriyaki bento box. It comes with a salad with a delicious vinaigrette, miso soup, agedashi tofu, and an orange. The pad Thai is pretty good, and it’s definitely a decently sized portion. The scallion pancakes are fried strangely, not very authentic but if you like fried food they are fairly good. The fried rice is good, but the crispy chicken tends to be a little bit over cooked and gets tough to chew. The wings have very flavorful sauces, though they tend to be on the salty side. However, they are juicy and do taste good.

Delicious sushi, some common rolls that you find in other restaurants and some unique rolls as well. Fish was really fresh and the fish: rice ratio was perfect. I find it really annoying when some sushi places really load up on the rice but this place doesn’t overdo the rice so the fish really shine. They also have a make your own noodle bowl. where you pick and choose what you want from the type of broth, noodle, protein and option for extras and they bring it out for you. Your bowl can get expensive if you pick the items with an upcharge but the bowl my boyfriend made was delicious.(tomyum broth, ramen noodle, chicken, and extra mixed veggie) Fried Icecream was delicious, I’d say good to share for two people… or all for yourself! Really crispy exterior and non greasy Lychee Hana sake was delicious. be careful, you can get really drunk cause it’s so good. they bring out ice cold water and leave a large glass bottle of water on the table. Service was excellent, quick and checked up on you without the feeling of being smothered, or over your shoulder.

Something has happened to my favorite restaurant. Two weeks ago, I didn’t feel up to cooking, so we went back to our almost weekly gathering place, Mix It Sushi Noodle Grill. It’s been our go-to place for sushi and noodle dishes since it opened in November of 2014. Oh, how the mighty has fallen in only a year. The service was horrible. Long waits, with confused wait staff, who didn’t know the difference between vegetable tempura platter or the vegetable tempura maki roll. Yes, we ordered the tempura maki, and received the tempura platter instead. Generally, I wouldn’t mind the mix up, I love tempura, but this was the worst I’ve ever attempted to eat. The vegetable pieces were so large you could not pick them up with chopsticks, and they were swimming in a pool of grease congregating in the bottom of the bowl. They were inedible. We gave up after a while trying to explain to the waiter that we order the tempura maki, while he insisted that is what we got. Another long wait and we received two of the three additional maki rolls we ordered. The rice was not fresh, and the nori used to wrap the rolls was tough and barely chewable. We never received one of our rolls, when we inquired about it, they apologized and said they would put the order in, but then we were tired of the ordeal and told them not to bother. This was always my go to place. The service was wonderful, and the food always fresh, but something has happened and this isn’t the first bad experience I’ve had here over the past month. It will take a lot of convincing for me to step my paws back into this restaurant.

I just visited Mix-It today, and had General Gao chicken with white rice. It was so delicious, and very generous with their portions. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to give the Sushi a try, and was also very pleased with what I ordered. It was Spicy Tuna, and was really fabulous. They offer many beers, and wines, and should offer everyone a choice of drink. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a delicious meal at a reasonable price. By the way the servers were extremely friendly, and very attractive looking. I will definitely make it a go to place when I’m in the Cambridge, Mass area. Bön Appetite !!!

Meh, they’re trying to do too much. I would much rather go and eat at a place that picked one Asian cuisine than trying to do all of them.

We had Mix-It cater our office holiday luncheon today. They gave us an ample amount of food, all of it fresh and flavorful. Nancy was particularly helpful in planning our menu and the delivery team was helpful and personable while setting up for us. Everyone raved and we would gladly do business with them again.

We got the groupon voucher and came here for dinner. Had the mix it, flame of fire and some other maki rolls. All came out pretty good! The interior of this restaurant is quite comfy, has a nice ambiance, and a bit romantic feel to it too.

We had pretty standard take out from Mix-It last night. I ordered the Jungle Tofu, which was crazy spicy. I must have accidentally it «very spicy» on the computer. I still managed to enjoy the dish, but had to go slow with the spice. We also got a free crab ragoon with a $ 30 order. I’d try Mix-It again for take out.

An update to my previous review… I’m now a regular(once a week!), I have yet to have a bad meal here. I was not a believer of Pan-Asian establishments, but this place does everything well, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai.

Still amazing. My parents, who are hard to please, loved it too. Great sushi, noodle soups(mom loves the udon) and their pad thai is better than other places around Cambridge. Their crispy chicken puts rod dee to shame(sorry rod dee, you’re still cheaper, I guess?). Caveat: I have been warned by Korean friends that they are not strong on their Korean game.

Great concept to offer Asian fusion cuisine but tricky to implement successful throughout all cuisine choices. Think the restaurant is stronger on the Thai front. We ordered a slight variation of items to give the fusion a whirl. — Basil chicken wings — overly drenched in sauce — Yellowtail sashimi — poorly cut and found fish bones — Beef drunken noodles — think this was the best dish out of everything ordered. The noodles had a good spicy kick and beef was pretty tender — Spicy seafood udon noodles — broth was spicy and tangy with lots of noodles but little seafood Service was good — server checked back frequently. Décor is modern and chic.

We ordered a tuna sashimi on rice and a sashimi to share. The food was solid good, even though there was no wow factor. The fish was fresh. The ambiance was good. The services were very friendly.

Mix-It, on Mass Ave. on the eastern outskirts of Porter Sq., is a great spot for good Sushi at an affordable price. I’ve been three or four times now and each visit has been a real tongue pleaser. Their menu is quite large, with many Maki, Sashimi and Nigiri choices. They also have numerous cooked Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Korean dishes that always look and smell great when they pass by, but I’ve only ever had the Sushi myself. If you are able, sit at the Sushi bar where Chef Li is very likely to start you out with a small dish of sashimi over a vegetable salad some sort. Every time I’ve been the dish he offered was light and tasty(and FREE); a great way to start the meal. The Sushi fish is always super fresh and excellently prepared and presented. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My only dislike is Mix-It only has a beer and wine license. And then, the beer and wine choices are very limited and on the low end of the spectrum(even the Saki). I almost wish it was a BYOB place so I could bring in some«good» beer or wine to go with my meal. That said, I highly recommend Mix-It for great Sushi without all of the pretense and expense!

I was having a sushi craving so I decided to have mix-it delivered to my apartment. On the online ordering process, I must have accidentally choose maki sushi instead of hand-rolled sushi, which was a bit of a disappointment. Nonetheless, the food arrived and was served with a good amount of ginger, which I had requested. The main issue I had with the dish was that the seaweed wrap that the spicy tuna was served in was pretty tough to bite through and I felt that it wasn’t well integrated with the rice. Maybe I am just not used to this style of sushi, but it seemed to be a bit challenging to eat. Overall, the whole dish was fresh, but was not particularly spicy and a bit small for almost $ 30 worth of food.

It was quite good. Good, quiet atmosphere, and you get a lot of food, it was a good deal. The raw fish tasted quite fresh, and you get a lot of it but not enough to get mercury poisoning so you shouldn’t quite worry. There’s also the possibility to receive a cucumber cup with roe. They serve sashimi on top of lettuce, which I’ve never seen before, but they are probably trying to innovate, and I will always accept lettuce, the most versatile and delicious vegetable. I didn’t have any of their non-raw fish offerings, not even the sushi rice, as a disclaimer. I initially got quite confused and went to the super fusion restaurant down the street but that is a different restaurant. This one is newer and fresher. Quite a reasonable location for lazy folk who live in the area.

Not sure what I missed but most of my fish fillets had a weird odor to it and did not taste normal like in other restaurants(I would know, I’m a sushi lover). There is a good list for lunch specials but the description of what’s on them can be misleading. I ordered a sashimi lunch($ 11.95) which comes with rice, soup, and salad. This meal’s description is «10 pces Assorted fillets of raw fish and sushi rice» well… I got 8 total raw fish: Tuna(2), White Tuna(2), something(2), Salmon(2) and got 4 odd extras, tamago/egg(2) and imitation crab(2). I guess they tried to make up the 2 fish pieces with 4 non? All the fish fillets had a weird minty order/taste to it which I thought was weird. I was getting worried that it may be soap or some chemical that might have gotten on it so I just stopped eating my meal(I could not take it anymore). Other than that taste, the tuna and«something»(don’t know the name) had a very«fishy» taste(to those that describe it lol). Not very happy with my meal, just plain disappointed. As for service, the hostess was very nice and I liked her a lot. Just the food really blew it for me. I don’t think I will come back after consuming weird tasting fish. This place is close to Berry Line and has street parking for those that drive.

If you’re into great sushi and hip atmospheres, you need to be here. You’ll enjoy everything. Not just cold, dead fishies. Our host was incredibly patient as several members in our party were twenty minutes late. Granted, they were battling the ice monster but they should have left earlier. The ice monster is a formidable foe. Once our party was complete, the server quickly responded and took our order. The combos. Get one. You’ll love it like a new kickball on the playground. Their POS machine comes to you, so be prepared. Ours was slow so we had and extended hang out with the server. We stayed until close and felt zero pressures to leave. Zip. That hasn’t happened to me in this town for a long, long time Obi Wan.

Tl;dr: solid addition to the neighborhood with super friendly service. We came in for dinner around the second week of opening, and like others have mentioned, were given a little dish of avocado salad before our orders of the Indonesian chicken and the rainbow roll arrived. The Indonesian chicken was consistent with other places(and note there is a bit of a pricing premium for the entrees/noodles/fried rice — though the menu variety is helpful for when y’all are craving different things — pretty sure that’s why it’s called Mix-It). The rainbow roll was generously sized for Harvard Square(aka compared to Takemura and especially Osushi), which makes this the go-to sushi place in the neighborhood. Based on what we saw on the menu, the lunch specials look very reasonably priced, so if I’ve got a long break, I’ll stop by!

Grand opening was on 11÷20÷14 and I went for a nice lunch by myself and was it good! Sitting at sushi bar and was already given a free avocado salad. Very good! Friendly servers and sushi chefs, beautiful restaurant and very fair prices. The restaurant is called Mix-It because they have a variety of Japenese food on their menu, besides sushi, they have noodles/ramen, soup, meat, fish, etc. I got the beef teriyaki bento box which came with miso soup, white rice, amazingly delicious, albeit rare steak(which I devoured even though I will normally order it medium well to well… but threw caution to the wind that day and went with the flow), a peeled orange, a light salad with crisp lettuce and the freshest grape tomatoes I’ve had this time of year, some sliced pickled daikon(I think. I ate everything but that). Really delicious food. I ordered a water and got a full glass bottle and I felt quite fancy! I met the sushi chef, Lee and told him I’d be back many times since this place is walking distance from my office and I pretty much crave some type of meat or sushi daily. Welcome to the neighborhood, Mix-It. We hope you stay!
