Surprisingly good. Super nice people. Street tacos basic, but perfect! Black current cider super good. Great place to stop off, have a snack and watch a college football game. Food plates aren’t huge, but it all tastes good.

We had stopped here for some wine and it ended up having everything we needed and more! The ladies in here were sooooooo sweet and gave us great customer service. The wine was very delicious. The Carmel Apple was so amazing, the cookie was just the perfect amount of sweet. The fruity pebble crispy treats were surprisingly great. I’m so glad we stopped here it was just what we needed and the sweet little ladies in here made it that much better.

We have been going to Apple Hill for over 20 years. Today’s experience was the worst. We arrived at Honey Bear at 2:30. There was one couple sitting at a table eating. We ordered two sandwiches and then the wait began. The young lady at the register was totally clueless. She walked past our table three times and smiled but our sandwiches never arrived. Another couple walked in ordered and sit down at 2:55. At 3:00 my wife asked her if there was a problem with our sandwiches. She smiled and said«oh no, she is working on them they will be right out». At 3:05 she came over and asked«what kind of sandwiches did you order?» I told her and she went in the back and came out with two plates… the other people’s order. At that point we asked for our money back. The older lady then came out and said she didn’t have a clue that there was an order waiting. Are you kidding me. They both saw us sitting there for half an hour. She was right, they didn’t have a clue. I honestly think that the young lady may be mentally challenged, nobody is that clueless. Way too many other places, don’t waste your time here.

This place has amazing food and staff. The chicken strudel was something unique and very delicious. The service here was beyond exceptional. Very welcoming staff and a really cozy place to sit outside and enjoy a lazy afternoon with good eating. There are inside and outside eating areas. They even have a pig roasting for their pulled pork sandwiches sometimes, and live music sometimes as well. Great for the family too. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Apple hill area, or just to stop by and grab a bite to eat.

Stopped by for some hot apple cider on a rainy day. There wasn’t any customers there. The place was like an ice burg. There is a huge wood stove; but no fire and no heat. We ordered the cider and looked around while waiting and waiting and waiting! I asked the gal what happened to the cider and she said, oh, I forgot it in the microwave! WHAT? She pulls out two Styrofoam cups from the microwave! The place has really gone down hill.

Everyone was so welcoming, the outdoor seating was wonderful, and the food was delicious! Got the chicken strudel special, which comes with cole slaw and cranberry sauce on the side, along with a slice of apple pie for dessert. The chicken strudel was more like pot pie, but nonetheless outstanding. The apple pie was great, but I think the strudel may have been the star of the show. All in all a must if you visit Apple Hill!

Unfortunately by visiting this place, my entire Apple Hill experience was ruined. I went with my husband to Apple Hill to celebrate my birthday. We had just finished wine tasting, and wanted to eat our picnic lunch and experience the atmosphere of Apple hill at its finest. We stumbled upon Honey Bear that had open picnic tables and live music, as well as a bakery right next to it. We thought this was perfect, so the plan was to eat, enjoy the music, and follow it up with a tasty apple treat from the bakery! Half way through our meal, we were approached(rather angrily) by a man who worked there. He stated that we weren’t allowed to drink wine from other wineries on their property. Totally understandable, so we immediately apologized and began putting the wine away. He then began to chastise us for doing so. It turned into him yelling and lecturing us about how he was tired of people doing this. During this time, we continued to apologize and state that we completely understood and that this is something we wouldn’t do again. Honestly, this was our first time at Apple Hill and truly didn’t know this was something frowned upon. We explained to him that we were planning on simply eating lunch then visiting their bakery. He continued to beat a dead horse. He would NOT stop this lecture, even after we clearly had gotten the message. He then proceeded to explain that signs were posted for«people like you.» He gestured to a piece of paper, clearly effected by rain, and totally folded up so the writing on it could not even have been read. He then attempted to unfold the paper, to no avail. Sorry, but if that’s the sad attempt to effectively discourage people from doing what we did, it needs to be reposted immediately. After pointing that out to him, he promptly kicked us out. We packed up our items, and left immediately. It’s so unfortunate to me that he handled the situation the way he did. Throughout the whole conversation we continued to apologize profusely, but that only seemed to anger him more. We are still very sorry for the mistake that we had made, but I just can’t wrap my head around how he thought by chastising us that it would fix the situation. If he had calmly explained how this is something that was frowned upon and told us that we needed to remove ourselves, we would have apologized immediately and even visited this stop again! After discussing this with many of our friends who are very familiar with this area and bakery, I’ve continually been told that the food is inadequate, especially compared to the other stops scattered around Apple Hill. Sounds like we didn’t miss out on much. It’s very unfortunate that a restaurant could have such poor costumer service, and such angry employees working there. A VERY hard lesson learned by us, and hopefully a lesson will come to them after this review. Costumer service matters!

I was so happy to see that this place has reopened and more so, that the Chicken Strudel is still on the menu! So yummmmy! I live in Brentwood, California, about 80 miles away and I would most definitely drive to Apple Hill for this dish! There was a bit of a line when we arrived on Sunday. However, it did move pretty quickly.

Food in Apple Hill has always been a disappointment to me and sadly, this place was no exception. We visited Apple Hill on a Saturday during the height of the festivities. We were looking for lunch, I consulted my handy-dandy Unilocal app and found Honey Bear Ranch Restaurant. We — 6 of us — ordered a combination of pulled pork and trip tip sandwiches, hot dogs for the kids and a bowl of chili to share. My sandwich — pulled pork — was $ 8.50, if I recall correctly. It came with a literal spoonful of coleslaw — no more than 2 tablespoons of slaw. The sandwich itself was kind of small and unimpressive… bottled barbecue sauce, for sure. Everyone shared the same sentiments on their meals — definitely not worth the prices. On top of the food being less than stellar, the service was SLOOOOOOWWWW. It took FOREVER to place an order and forever to actually get the food… and they weren’t busy, there was absolutely no line and only 2 other tables were even occupied. Perhaps that should have been our first clue that we should go elsewhere. But the real issue that I had was the service. We were sitting outside, near the door to the restaurant. A woman — the owner I was told, was carrying a tray containing several plates of food. One thing led to another, and she ended up dropping the whole tray on the ground right outside the door. Bummer. But instead of attempting to pick it up, she simply turned on her heel and walked back inside. Another server came out, noticed the mess, walked past it, then walked past it again to go back inside. What? I decide that SOMEONE needs to pick it up before someone slips and falls, so I get up and pick it up… plates of sandwiches, salads — it was a mess. An employee comes out and looks at me, looking confused and then does pretty much nothing… she did offer to take the tray though. I didn’t get a thank you or any acknowledgment for cleaning up their mess. The aforementioned woman(owner?) comes out again, and says nothing. Does she think that fairies picked up her mess? Is that a thing? Either way, my bottom-line is this: I paid way too much for a lousy meal and got the joy of cleaning up someone else’s mess with no thank you. Yeah, I’m not coming back.

Honey Bear Ranch Rastuarant is back in action! Best fresh pies around, with many flavors to choose from: Old Fashioned Apple, Apple Crumb, Marion Berry, Apple Berry Sour Cream and the BEST Caramel Apple! The chicken strudel is BACK and it is AMAZING!!! This charming restuarant has new owners that are making sure customers are happy! So if you are in Apple Hill pay them a visit!

Meh… Stopped in on our tour around the different ranches. Not much there but a vendor outside had a great pepper jelly jam. So we bought three jars for $ 20. Very yummy. I’ll skip this one next year. Not much to do and not much selection.

Where did this place go, use to love coming here with the family for the chicken strudel. Closed the last two years the times we came. For the fan who does not recommend to families due to the whole pig roasting outside, why wouldn’t you want your children to see where their food source comes from? Too often these days we try to shelter our children to the point they have lost their way on how life really is. When they grow up, they do not posses the knowledge how to process what they encounter. Our society has become weak and unsustainable from this type of mentality. Anyhow I do respect your opinion, but give your kids a chance next time to experience life.

This used to be our fav lunch stop for the chicken strudel. It closed last year & the year before the changed how it was made sadly… & it really downgraded. I see this year they are open again but the menu has changed & they now offer Pizza but no strudel :( I hope with all the changes it’s improved we really miss the strudel. **** I’ve been messaged that they reopened and the strudel is back on the menu and yummy — I can’t verify this as we aren’t in the area— but I’d say check it out cuz the strudel used to be to die for.

This is one of the few Apple Hill farms that go beyond pie in the food department. The place is up for sale, but the restaurant is still operating. Wish I could say the food was memorable, but it’s pre-made ready to go fare. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing if any of it was beyond average. The BF got the chicken strudel. Unique at least, but not very tasty. Still had cold patches after not being in the micro long enough. My turkey croissant sandwich was dry and bland. Served with horrible potato salad. You do get a slice of pretty good pie with your lunch munch. Servers were eager and pleasant. Atmosphere was, of course, quaint and country.

Of all the farms in Apple Hill, Honey Bear has been the most disappointing. It reeled us in with the big pig roasting outside and promises of pulled pork sandwiches. Last year, we waited 40 minutes for a yucky plate of bland food, none of which tasted homemade. The baked goods were a sad affair, staring at me from behind cold glass, the pie looking to be made of shortening and belonging more at a grocery store rather than Apple Hill. There are so many better farms to choose from and I would not return.

this is one of those places i make sure to stop at every year when i go to apple hill. i guess the big draw for me is seeing that huge pig roasting over the bbq all day long. they bbq a pig every day for at least 9 hours so by the time it’s done that meat is so darn tender and juicy it’s crazy. yesterday i got the pulled pork sandwich for $ 8.95 and it wasn’t one of the best lunches this time around. it comes with a waldorf salad and a slice of apple pie but they were out of the salad so they gave me a side of potato salad. i love potato salad but this had no flavor and was so small it was gone in two bites. the sandwich was on a small wheat hamburger bun. this really need to be on a good quality roll for meat this good. the pork itself was great but the portion was so small it was crazy. it was about 3 or 4 small shreds of meat on each half. it was good but i was disappointed because i wanted more not only for my money but also i was hungry. i did try some of my friends chicken strudel and as usual it was so darn scrumptious. the crust was so flaky and the meat inside so tender i wanted more than a bite. they give you a side of cranberry sauce but only a small ramekin the size of a tablespoon. they really need to up the size of the sides asap! the apple pie was pretty darn good but if it were warm it would be a huge winner. if anything you need to come in and check out that bbq pig and smell that piggy over the fire.

Honestly, we were really disappointed with Honey Bear. It was the last stop of the day and maybe things were starting to close up, but this place wasn’t impressive. I was excited to see an organic produce sign, but after quickly beelining my way over, I was disappointed to find a lousy selection of really old looking fruit. I may be spoiled by my local farmer’s market, but this produce did not look fresh or appealing whatsoever. There’s a small pond with a broken water wheel at the end of the property. You can buy some fish food(which looked like dog kibble to me; the pieces were way too big for a fish to eat) from a small gum ball machine but there were no fish I could see to feed. The pond looked really run down and kind of depressing. Warning for animal lovers: they roast whole pigs outside as well, which is great for carnivores but not so great for veg*ns. So if you’re sensitive, or you have small kids who may be frightened by a whole pig carcass being turned on a spit, be careful where you look when you’re outside.
