I see Lemon Tree has partnered up with a Coffee Shop down the street. .. which gives me one more place to not visit because I stand up for my principles.

I’ve been to this place a handful of times since they first opened. I’d bring my three year old who would LOVE making her own cupcake at the cupcake station… putting on her own colored icing, decorating with her choice of three toppings. I enjoyed the wide assortment of flavors… and loved the price of $ 1.15? We’d come and get two each because they were small and very very tasty. The peanut butter icing is killer… The look of the cupcakes isn’t anything fancy… something I could do at home. The taste more than makes up for the look. They are on the small size, typical of what we’d make at home. Now, I kept coming back, even telling everyone about it until my last visit. I met a friend with her kids there, in between running some errands after work. We let the kids make their own cupcakes and bought a total of about a dozen between both of us. We sat down on the couch in the sitting area, as I’ve always done before, and one of the two young girls working walked over and told us we needed to leave! She told us that this is to-go only and she didn’t want other customers to see us sitting and eating. Now, at this point, we were done with our cupcakes, and just chatting. I’ve never felt so unwanted in a new, local store… like a I want your money but you’ll have to leave! Why have a sitting area if you can’t eat or chat there? No matter how good the cupcakes were, or how well priced, I’d never bring my business there again. Either put up a to-go only sign and remove the couch… or add some tables and allow customers to enjoy their cupcakes. I will assure you, allowign customers to eat there will not only invite other people in(showing you look busy) but it will save the cost of all those to-go boxes you’re using!

Pretty place and interesting. Lot of cupcakes, different decorating, different flavor, and also taste pretty good. Kids are welcome there to decorate their own cupcake. A little bit pricey for small size of cupcakes. But you’ll enjoy it.

I’m so excited that there’s now a place to get great non-supermarket cupcakes nearby. I love going into Lemon Tree and seeing the daily flavors. I like some flavors better than others, but there is definitely something for everyone. I’ve had hoity toity cupcakes from Philly Cupcake, Flying Monkey, Georgetown Cupcake and Magnolia but I’ve been disappointed at times, not to mention the obscene prices that they charge. I like the modest size and price of the Lemon Tree treats(a little less guilt that way). I don’t know if their cupcakes are from scratch or a box or whatever. All I know is that the end result is good and reminds me of the cupcakes my mom made for us when I was little, except their concoctions are much more fun and creative!

I was not impressed. The cupcakes tasted pretty bad and looked like they were decorated by children. It was pretty obvious no one there has any real pastry experience. It is a shame because the owners seems like nice people.

The Lemon Tree opened a few weeks ago, it’s a small bakery with all sorts of cookies, cupcakes, flavored bread and cool gifts. I enjoyed the lemon zinger cupcake(without coconut 1.25) and the franklin mint cupcake(1.25) as a little snack one afternoon. There were at least 30 different kinds of cupcakes available too. A loaf of cinnamon apple, cranberry-orange, gingerbread or sweet potato bread will run you 5.00 each. They’ve got some cool gift baskets, cookbooks and presents available(good for students). Worth a visit if you’re in the area 3 stars.
