I’ve been with Beauty Bank for hair matter and I am so happy with it. I never hesitate to rate with 5 stars.

I had long thick hair and I came in to letting her know I would just like to layer my hair but keep the length because i love my hair long. She thinned my hair out so much i lost 5 inches length and a WHOLE LOT of volume. I can’t even curl my hair anymore :(You’re gonna have to tell her to not thin your hair too much otherwise she’ll just do it.

I love this place!!! I have been coming and have been a loyal customer for more than two decades.
I never disappointed any time whether I need hair cut, perm or color!!!
I come in this place at least every other week and I am always happy to come here!!!

I have curly-​frizzy hair, which are hard to cut.
Mrs. Chai listen to me and did exactly what I asked her and it came out perfect.
And it was done in 20 mins!

Wowie, the lady here is so good! She knows what she’s doing-​just by looking at you, she can recommend and apply what you need in order to look your best! She was really easy to talk to and I felt so comfortable-​I felt like she was my aunt or something. The results were great too-​I love my hair!

Great digital perm. Mrs chai knows your hair type and the level of maintenance you are willing to put in. She is honest with expectations for the results you will get. Every time I’ve had my hair done it is even better than I imagined. She makes my hair look something out of magazine. It lasts too. Just listen to the after care recommendations and you can last almost 6 months!

After looking on Unilocal,I decided to get my digital perm here because of the good reviews and because it was convenient. Unfortunately, after the 2.5 hour appointment, I am not convinced I actually got a «digital perm» — rather all signs point at having received a «cold» perm which should be a fraction of the cost. :(

I went there for a haircut and came out with a digital perm. Should have done it YEARS ago. My hair was so heavy and unwieldy but I wanted it up for my wedding. She suggested a digital perm and I was all nervous because I didn’t want like, 80s curls. But she did it perfectly. I’m going back to get my hair trimmed cuz the curls are still there. They get tighter after a shower, but relax if I don’t wash my hair too often. Game changer.

She was absolutely charming and so good to my hair. I got a v-​cut with layers after going for about a year and a half without a haircut. She took expert care of my hair and shaped it nicely. My hair is healthy, light, and styled quite nicely. I’ll be returning to Beauty Bank whenever I’m in need of anything for my hair.

I went back to Ms. Chai for a digital perm 9 months ago, and my hair is curly, more relaxed. I went back for a trim two months ago, and the curls are still there. I will be headed back in the next few months for a refresh. After getting my digital perm, my coworker went (she’s Caucasian) and had her first perm ever – and loves her digital perm as well.
I asked Ms. Chai why she doesn’t use the digital perm machine I’ve used in the past at other salons (the ones with all of the wires), she said the curler set she uses is updated, which measures each curler temperature right on the curler, so the wires are not needed to monitor the individual temperatures of the curlers. She informed me that the digital perm machine with all of the wires is from the 1980’s.
So rest assured, you are getting the digital perm at Beauty Bank, even though the wire contraption you may have seen at other salons may be not found here.

Received a digital perm here. So many people have commented on my perm that I must say, THANK YOU Mrs. Chai! I got an appointment quickly for my first ever perm that took ~2−3 hours. The whole process involves a couple of washes, smelly chemicals, a hair cut, and a bit of sitting with a little machine whirling overhead.
I asked for «loose curls» and was disappointed at first to see it SO curly. However, I knew this was part of the process as it was going to loosen over time. Mrs. Chai also nicely explained how I could mess with my hair to style it more into a wavy versus curly cut. It took about 4 weeks for the curls to loosen enough for me to fully appreciate them, but they’ve been great since. The curls refresh after a shower. A quick tip: do not blow dry and rather spray your wet hair with Aussie hairspray to get them to stay in place.
So far it’s lasted almost four months.
Yes, digital perms are extremely expensive, but I treated myself. If it lasts even longer, I might consider trying it again. Nonetheless, I believe I’ll be going back to Beauty Bank in the future.

So the digital perm offered here isn’t a traditional digital perm were you hooked up to a crazy machine. Mrs Chai douses you hair with chemicals, rolls it with warm curlers and then your hair is processed like a cold perm. But the results are amazing. My hair doesn’t smell and it looks just like the picture I showed her. I was really worried because one of the chemicals smelled horrible. But the end result is perfect and stink free. My hair isn’t dry or brittle. It’s shiny and soft with big curls at the ends.

Its the first time I ve been there. I have to say I may be their regular customer in the future. I did japanese straightening perm + haircut+trim eyebrow, The lady (I even forgot to ask the barber’s name!) was very nice and super professional. Highly Recommend my asian friend to get haircut in Beauty Bank.

I have been coming this hair salon more than 10 years.
I live in north Fremont and I have to drive one hour to get this place when there is some traffic. I still come to here to have my hair cut and perm done.
Simply say, Mrs. Chai knows hairstyle which works best for me. I just like her confidence and sense. If you want to try new hairstyle come and try. You won’t regret!

Was recommended to see Mrs. Chai by a friend who has been going to her for years. I was pretty satisfied with the results. The pros –This lady knows how to cut bangs! She spent ample time my bangs because I seriously have a weird part in the middle of my head. Her hard work resulted in GREAT results. Plus, a wash and cut was only $ 35 before tip. A super deal in this area.
I think the language barrier made for little to no conversation during the cut, but I didn’t mind because that just means she can concentrate more on my hair. She cut it a tad shorter than I wanted, but no big deal, it wasn’t a huge deviation from my instructions, and hair always grows back. She did line cuts for my layers, which is the first time I experienced this kind of layering. It was definitely a lot faster than any cut I’ve ever experienced. However, the end result did look indisputably good, even if different from what I’m used to.
As the other reviews note, she is multi-​tasking the whole time she’s with you b/​c I think it’s just her and her hubby who run the salon. There is something to be said about supporting hardworking local businesses. I would recommend this salon if you want a hairstylist who doesn’t charge an arm and a leg and knows how to work with asian hair.

I’ve been coming to this lady for… 8 years? Regardless, a while. And of course, it’s because of my Korean mother that I came to know this place. She remembers who I am and asks about my mom when I go.
Like some of the other reviews said, this woman is straight up with you. She knows what’ll work and what won’t. I asked her to do my hair a certain way once and she gave me this long lecture about how my face is round and cutting my hair that way will only make it look rounder. And you know what? It didn’t upset me. She said it because she takes a lot of pride in her job of beautifying people and if people don’t look better walking out than they did walking in, she’s not happy about that.
Maybe it’s my customer loyalty but I know that it’s also my trust in Chai In Sook ahjummah that keeps me coming back. Anyway, time to call and make an appointment.

I’ve been going to Beauty Bank (or Chai In Sook Miyongshil, as I always knew it) since middle school. My mom’s been going for even longer than that.
Mrs. Chai knows exactly what I like. I’m not very trendy, and I pretty much just trust her to cut my hair in a flattering manner. She just asks «cut or trim» and «bangs or no bangs?» It’s a simple haircut, but it’s always cut in a way where my hair frames my face neatly. She also cuts it so that it looks just right about a week after the haircut, so the cut lasts longers.
I’ve gone to other salons both here in San Jose, and in SoCal, and I always end up going back to Mrs. Chai because I’m not satisfied with the quality of the cut at the other places.
I’ve also gotten a couple perms, a straightening, and a coating done here, and all of them were more than satisfactory.
