Unique Toy Shop

Love the Unique Toy Shop and how convenient it is to have it right in the middle of everything, but it does have a few major flaws. Once my 12 year old daughter went in to the shop with her friends alone, just looking around, doing what kids do. The lady at the checkout counter asked them if they had an adult with them, and they replied back no. The cashier then told the girls the were only allowed 5 minutes in the store and then they have to leave. The girls didn’t even get a chance to look around until they had to go. It disappoints me that a children’s toy shop discriminates and misinterpreted children as thieves, or individuals who cause damage. I will not be going back again.

I love this toy store. It is a small, local place, but they always have something for everyone. On this last trip, I bought an illuminated lego set for my friend’s son and my mom found a small ukulele for my niece (her father is a very good player). The perfect gifts! For Black Friday everything was 20% off too! This place has been around since I was a kid (about 20 years ago) and it has «outlived» a chain toy store that used to be on the other side of town. Whenever I do come home and shop out in Canandaigua, it always puts a smile on my face to see that it is still there and they still sell the same, great, quality toys. This is a wonderful toy store right in the heart if downtown Canandaigua. They have a great selection of quality toys and games, both from familiar things like Melissa & Doug and Sesame Street to things I had never seen before.
This place is really special and a wonderful departure from Amazon and Toys R Us. This store is exactly what toy shopping should be.
The couple that appear to own the pace are wonderfully sweet. The receipts are written up by hand on carbon paper. They also have very cute wrapping paper and free gift wrapping.
