I don’t know why this place is so quiet! The food, service and selections are sooooo good, this place should be packed. My husband is quite the picky eater since he works in Santa Monica and has access to all the great dining options down there. But he says, this place is the best Indian he has ever had. That says a lot coming from him. And, we have previously only have gone to buffets but are now open to the way Gandhi does either the lunch plate or individual dishes. And we just love it! Flavors having you craving for more. Highly recommend.

The people whom work here are very friendly and inviting. It allows your senses to enjoy the smells and taste of the food you order. I use to bounce around from one Indian food restaurant to the other until I found this spot. The food is always spot on and perfect portions. Just wanted to stop by here on Unilocal and support and give praise to my neighborhood Indian restaurant that deserves it.

I’m British and this place has real good quality food comparable with some of the best British/Indian restaurants. It’s always hard to find something here in the valley that resembles the style I’m used to but this has many dishes that are both flavorful, have a good consistency and have a decent amount of heat. The vegetable specialities are plentiful so it’s great for vegetarians.

I can’t believe this place isn’t packed. It’s clean and pleasant with linen table cloths and the food is fantastic! So glad it’s just around the corner from our house. I’m only sorry I didn’t find it sooner. Also in typical Indian style, our waiter made us feel welcome and invited. We’ll be back soon and often!

Had the Chicken Tikka Masala. The chicken was cooked perfectly, nice and soft. The sauce was fantastic! I ordered it medium spicy and it was a perfect level, no complaints.(Glad I didn’t go spicy) Garlic Naan was on point as well as the rice. I would eat here a lot if I didn’t live in Long Beach. Great job guys!

I just wanted to update as Gandhi Indian Cuisine hasn’t delivered for a very long time which is sad, but we still make the trip to pick up take out or eat there. We still think it is the best Indian food that exists and will continue to eat there for as long as we live nearby!

I love their lunch menu(affordable) and usually order saag paneer, lamb curry or chicken tandoori. I have never been disappointed. Their side vegetables are particularly good too.

Delicious traditional Indian food! It’s always odd to me how empty this place is usually, considering how good the food is, which makes me think; maybe we’re just going at odd times? Always been a fan of the spices and flavors you just don’t get from any other culture.

I love indian food but the wife isn’t a fan so I rarely get to go out and get Indian for dinner unless I order take out. Just a few nights ago, we decided to order take out so I decided to fulfill my craving for Indian and tried out Gandhi. Whenever I try Indian food for the first time, I order Chicken Tikka Masala because let’s be honest, its one of the most known and most common indian dishes. I order that with some garlic naan because again, naan goes hand in hand with the sauce. The good: I was pretty impressed with the taste of the food. The sauce was full of flavor and had the perfect amount of spice. It wasn’t burn your mouth off spicy but it wasn’t mild either. The chicken was tender and tasty. The garlic naan was tasty and had the right amount of garlic. It also wasn’t burnt something that so many Indian places tend to do. The bad: What kind of Indian restaurant doesn’t give you rice when you order a Masala dish? I drove all the way home, I live about 15 minutes away, only to open the bag and find that there was no rice. The other thing I have to complain about is the fact that the portion size is beyond tiny. Listen, I am not expecting Cheesecake Factory sized portions but I swear there were about 6 – 7 little pieces of chicken in a pool of Masala sauce which left me hungry and craving more. All in all, I would go back to this place but given the portion size would probably add extra protein or maybe just go to the lunch buffet so I can serve myself. Definitely a tasty and good indian place but the amount of food you get isn’t worth the price tag.

Best Indian food in Cali !!! I absolutely love everything here. Wasn’t a huge fan of Indian food in the start after trying so many places and leaving with disappointing results. However this place took me to a whole other level and I’m in love with the food, the culture, and planning a trip down to India in the near future. Friendly staff and peaceful environment. 5 stars! I think YES

Still SO delicious! Every time I come here the food is fresh and delicious, and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. Such a comfortable atmosphere too. Definitely my favorite Indian spot! I always tell myself I’m going to try something new, but I cannot help but get the tikka masala. Best. Ever. Love this place.

Came here on a Thursday night with my friends. They never had Indian food so I had to have them try it. This place has good ratings on Unilocal so we decided to give this place a try. The place itself is very clean, very big and it was actually quite empty, this place seems to get a lot of to go orders. Anyhow we were seated in a nice big booth, the girl helping us was nice. We ordered an appetizer, rice, naan and two dishes. The appetizer had to be my favorite, the chicken tikka masala was okay I’ve had better, the curry was a little too thick for my liking but overall it was fine. The best part was the chutney I really love their chutneys. All in a good a good place to have indian food not my favorite but perhaps may come back and try something new. Service was good, the girl helping us was very helpful and sweet.

Some of the best Mughlai /Indian cuisine in SoCal that I’ve had the privilege of enjoying. There are off-menu items available on request, too. The wait time is longer here but the food more than makes up for it, with the taste matching that of dishes prepared from scratch. I have found myself visiting the restaurant with colleagues whenever we crave delicious Subcontinental food.

Hmm. It may be my personal stubborn attitude towards Indian food, but this meal wasn’t as awesome as desired. When really trying a place out, I order my favorite things and try a taste of everything. I ordered vegetable samosas, butter chicken curry, basmati rice, garlic naan, paneer naan and chai tea. When I said paneer naan, the waiter responded with«cheese naan» which I figured he just meant paneer. I ordered my curry extra spicy(India spicy!) but it wasn’t as hot as I like it. The meat was cut into large chunks, which isn’t my favorite but ok. No problem. I’ll chop em myself and smother them in sauce and rice between garlic naan. The paneer naan however was indeed a «cheese naan» as the waiter had said. Yellow cheese. :/maybe it’s supposed to be that way, but I didn’t like it. The tea was poured out for me into a cute little tea cup. I loved the tea. I actually stayed a little longer for some after meal tea. Meal was roughly $ 30 which wasn’t bad considering how much food I ordered. Service was ok, but a little slow for being kinda empty. The problem is that the restaurant is very large but I imagine they’ve been feeling the financial pinch and are down to one waiter at the lunch hour.

Last week was my first time trying out this place. It was fantastic! The food were awesome. Today went back there and I’m sure that I will be a regular. This place is awesome. The food is perfectly made. I love the chicken marsala and the price is very affordable and the portion is generous too. Next visit, I’ll make sure to get to know the waiter’s name. He is nice and friendly.

After reading all the great reviews, went for dinner tonight. My wife and I were the only ones in the place, which is too bad for all the Indian food lovers out there. Had a great meal — chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, samosa, piloa rice and naan. All excellent. Don’t let the location keep you away. Great food… but BYOB — they don’t have a liquor license yet.
