Stopped by for a crab cake sandwich since I’ve heard so much about them. Located in a little store. Unfortunately all I could smell was grease. Staff was polite. Crinkle cut fries, least favorite, were very crispy and greasy. The bun was a hamburger bun. The crab cake was ok. A little filler and some internal shells. Otherwise, nothing to write home about.

Have stopped here on our trek from Cape Cod to visit family in Williamsburg several times. Have never been disappointed. Staff is helpful and friendly and food tastes like someone’s mom or aunt is in back cooking. This time I had the navy bean soup. Winter storm Jonas was just starting to hit Cape Charles so this was the perfect meal! My husband had the same with a grilled cheese sandwich. Perfect — what else could you want when it is cold and starting to snow! Do not pass this place by — go on in and order anything!!!

I’ve been working on the Eastern Shore quite a bit recently and have made a ritual of stopping in at Sting Ray’s for a delicious breakfast sandwich. I can order food, pump gas and get a lottery ticket in under ten minutes, then BAM! I’m back on the road.

This is my first time here. I travel all over the country, I have to say this is the best seafood I’ve ever had. I’m bringing my wife a platter. Thank you for the great food and service.

Over priced and disgusting. Still sick from two days ago’s crab cake sandwich and half a BBQ sandwich. ugh.

So this used to be my go to spot when driving on the Eastern Shore. The prices are a little steep(especially when you enter the restaurant through the gas station entrance and walk through the cheesy gift shop) but the food was great which made the whole experience really neat. WELL, I stopped there a few weeks ago on my way north with a hankering for a burger. It was so-so and the sweet potato fries were bland(even with brown sugar on them). I am by no means a snob with my burgers and if you look at my other reviews I am fairly reasonable when reviewing restaurants. Unfortunately this time I was disappointed. Maybe it is because I got a burger at a seafood joint but for me the experience was not what it used to be and with other truly amazing seafood joints it looks like if I stop there again it will only be for gas.

This place came with high hopes since it was a local that recommended the restaurant. It’s a gas station/souvenir/t-shirt/restaurant all in one. I am not sure how it received so many write up and features but my experience was a little less than fabulous. We ordered the pick 3 meal and had the choice of broiled or fried. We could not get both in the mix. The cashier said they were not allowed to mix it up so we choose broiled flounder, catfish and crab cake. Our sides were green beans and hush puppies. We ordered an additional side of Mac and cheese and cole slaw. I also ordered the clam chowder since that was also highly recommended. The chowder came out and to my surprise it was not a creamy chowder. This clam chowder was more like clams in broth with potatoes. The waitress knew immediately by my face that I did not want this. what ever the heck it was. She asked if she could get me something else, I said I would take the crab soup. She came back and took me they did not make the crab soup today. There was really nothing left that I wanted so I asked if I could just have the sweet potato pie since it was the same price. No problem shed said, then a minute later she came back and said they did not have the pie either. I eventually got the apple pie because that was about all that they had left. Now the food. Catfish-ok, nothing special Flounder-good Crab cake– I have had better(mixed crab, very little lump meat) Green beans– not really warm, but they had flavor Hush puppies-eh, not very warm Coleslaw-good Mac and Cheese-eh, not very warm, no flavor Apple pie-not so good. Crust was not crisp and bottom of crust was mushy/pasty. You order your food and sit down and wait for it to come out, Plenty of seating. Seemed that a lot of local people showed up while we were there. Maybe this is as good as it gets for around here. I would not recommend nor stop again. I do not mind wacky places(I would call this place kinda wacky) as long as the food is good. The food was a step above non-edible, but barely. We didn’t get sick from it so there’s the positive.

Food wasn’t terrible but I will not be stopping here again. We went to this place because we heard good things and how it is a must stop, but honestly I went with my expectations too high and was let down. Everything is FRIED. Which isn’t the bad part, but I was expecting at least some vegetables. I got the fried crab cake sandwich, and the sandwich was good. The crab cake had lots of flavor and was fried perfectly. But you would figure they would throw some lettuce and tomato on top or even a pickle but nope, nothing. Just a fried crab cake on bread. Also, their fries were under seasoned and not crispy or fresh. The mac n cheese was bad. The clam chowder was bad. The staff was great which is why I’m giving 3 stars, but food wise, it wasn’t anything amazing. Worth a try though, I guess. Really wish I went somewhere else for my last vacation meal.

Fresh VA catch cooked up to local perfection. So glad we made a pit stop on our way south. So yummy. The Best fried flounder I ever had.(my only gripe about my fish is the bones) I still loved it. Don’t expect anything fancy or frilly here remember people don’t come to this place for the ambiance they flock for the food even the locals and one quick stop will let you in on why too. Order and pay at the counter and grab yourself a little booth or table. Enjoy~ Not highly recommended for little ones my kiddo had the mozzarella sticks, I seen no high chairs but one couple was braving it with a couple toddlers. I enjoyed the fact they also have the gas station, gift shop and a short walk away we got some of the best produce ever for next to nothing!

I have stopped here many times. The food seems to be getting worse. My chicken sandwich was extremely dry. The service is very slow. It took an hour to get a sandwich and a cup of chili. We have decided that we’re not going to stop here anymore.

I ordered the reubon from here and for the price of 8 $ for just the sandwich I figured it might have contained more meat. On top of the flat sandwich the whole thing tasted of fish. Wasn’t very appetizing.

The food… amazing! Highly recommend the crab cake sandwich with hush puppies. It’s pretty dated, and smells like nothing but fried food but look past all of that for a good meal.

God I love this place. Almost every time I head up north my first stop once I get off the bridge is into Sting-Ray’s at the Cape Center for some breakfast. Whether you’re stopping to dine in or just doing a pick up the food is always spot on delicious and service is typically fast even when they’re packed to gills. On my trip to Philly last weekend I stopped in and picked up a fried egg sandwich w/bacon & cheese and an order of home fries. My order took about 10 minutes as they were about half full and out the door I went on up Rt 13 to Philly. Always good, always friendly. I’ll be visiting for many years to come!

Interesting place. Cafeteria style in a gas station that you may not stop if you judge a book by its cover. Both the locals and travelers eat here. Fresh local seafood and some cafeteria staples on the menu. Decent prices and portion sizes, The staff was friendly and helpful and service was great. Our food was fresh and hot. We only had one complaint on the day we stopped for lunch no she crab soup available until 4pm. Interesting place, Pleasant experience would stop again.

Cafeteria style, in a gas station. Go in with that in mind. First of all, the most delicious thing I ate from here was the broccoli casserole. Yum yum yum! I don’t even love broccoli but this was worth the chance. I opted for the soft crab sandwich. The crab was fried perfectly, although under seasoned and was decidedly lacking in salt. I also had perfect sweet tea– just like my grandma makes, and obviously fresh. If you’re a sweet tea drinker, you know this is a big deal. You can taste when tea has been sitting around for awhile. My husband, being a weirdo, ordered a Reuben(in a place known for seafood. Sigh) It wasn’t the best he’s had, but was good nonetheless. He had fries– crinkle cut and needing salt. We went on a Sunday and the place was very busy. How they know who to take the food to is a mystery to me, but whatever system they use appears to be working. The space isn’t big — so I’d avoid taking a large group during a busy time.

Can’t judge a book by its cover. This little hole in the wall is adjoined with an Exxon gas station, has no fine dining décor, and the gift shop is larger then the actual restaurant itself. All of that combined with their name, the big sign that says award winning and enough parking for my tractor trailer is what brought me in. I sort of played it safe and ordered a crab cake sandwich, hush puppies, w fries. At first glance it wasn’t the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, looked pretty normal and blah but when I took the first bite of that crab cake, WOW was I blown away and surprised. Amazing flavor and super fresh. I don’t think it could get any fresher then that. It was so good. The hush puppies were great. The fries were crispy and crunchy. It was a fantastic lunch. Now that I write this review I’m sad because I don’t know if and when I’ll ever be back and my only regret is I didn’t take a few crab cakes for the road and I didn’t buy a souvenir from the gift shop

Terrific little restaurant! American menu, and a great seafood dinner fare! We’re stopping here for dinner on our way back South! Clean, friendly and reasonable prices. Southern hospitality included! We had breakfast, pork roll and corned beef hash were really good!

Thanks, Joe D, for recommending this gem of a diner. We drive up to or via ESVA once a month or so, and hadn’t stopped in until this latest trip. I am so glad we did! Let me give the caveat that we’d just spent a long weekend, eating and drinking our way thru Annapolis. Having said that, my crab cake was hands down the best one I’ve had in recent history. It was fried and contained just enough filler to hold the gobs of crabmeat together. I’d ordered the small plate with one crab cake, which also came with a huge piece of yummy corn bread &2 sides(creamed corn and a sweet potato for me). Hubs had fried flounder, which was pretty darn good & also came with 2 sides(Mac-n-cheese and French fries). It was a lot of food, and seemed reasonably priced for the quantity & quality of food. We were stuffed, so didn’t get a chance to try dessert, but next time for sure!
