Stopped here for a late lunch, great service and the food was fantastic.

6÷13÷2016 Wow, what s difference a year makes. Standards have really dropped here at the Blue Pig Tavern. First of all, it’s lunch time. Why are they not ready??? Every table is has silverware thrown on it like the restaurant is just setting up… And the tables stayed like this until I left Not what a customer is expecting to see when we walk in to eat. No attention to detail. :( I USED to give the restaurant glowing reviews, for the wait staff, food and atmosphere… But that’s all changed. I brought a friend for his birthday, but it was s real let down… Food was mediocre and the hostess and waitress were both disinterested. I’m hoping things get BETTER.

My husband and I went here for dinner last night and it was wonderful! We were seated outside next to the hostess station and when asked to be moved because it was a little distracting our waitress, Flossie accommodated us immediately without hesitation. Flossie was professional and attentive throughout the dinner and even gave us dessert on the house as we were celebrating our anniversary. We ordered the pork shank and the steak frites, both excellent dishes! The outside is very cool atmosphere so I suggest reserving a table there, but the inside was beautiful as well. Overall a great dinner with excellent service.

We sat in the courtyard for a delicious dinner. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The ladies and I ordered a variety of seafood appetizers and shared them through the evening. The courtyard’s ambiance was great. We particularly enjoyed the tuna, oysters, beet salads, and mac & cheese. We had a great time here!

Great setting. Beautiful dining room in a classic seaside resort hotel. Service was what you would expect from a white tablecloth resort in an upscale resort community — excellent. Wish we had sat outside, but the humidity kept us in the A/C. I was excited to try the seafood options. We ordered the calamari appetizer. It was good, but not the best I’ve ever had(that distinction goes to Randazzo’s in Sheapshead Bay, Brooklyn). The squid was fried in a light batter. Not greasy, but not as tender as I would have liked it. For entrees, I had the fish and chips which were fried to a super crisp(great). As promised by our waiter, the Haddock was fresh, and you could taste it. My wife enjoyed her angel hair pasta with seafood in a red sauce. The sauce was a little spicy, but not overly spicy. Her only comment was that there could have been a touch more sauce as it would have been nice to sop up some with the delicious, Italian bread they served. Prices were fair for the experience, food quality and location — nothing is cheap in Cape May. All in all, a good experience.

Hi, my man and I had dinner at the Blue Pig Tavern this past holiday weekend. We had to wait a little while for our table, even though we had a reservation as the only table was outside and it was a little chilly that evening. BUT, we had a drink or two at the bar while we were waiting. Our server, John, was great. We started with the lobster bisque and the clam chowder. I think the lobster bisque was better, clam chowder was a bit salty, but both were good. We both had the steak and cake for our entrees. delicious NY strip cooked perfectly and a great crab cake. We shared a great bottle of wine, zinfandel. and for dessert we had the apple pie a la mode with cappuccios. perfect end to a lovely evening.

You can’t really mess up chocolate chip pancakes. I had the lemon raspberries pancakes which were pretty yummy. Couldn’t finish it though. Staff were very kind.

A big part of my annual summer trips to Cape May were to have the Blue Pig Tavern breakfast. Specifically the crab cake eggs Benedict which were excellently made with their homemade scallion biscuits and lump crab meat. Sadly they have taken this dish off the menu and everything else is deteriorating too. The waiter was friendly but things seemed very disorganized. At one point another waiter came out and asked us who ordered milk and whether it was for the coffee or if we needed a glass of milk because she wasn’t given clear direction by the other wait staff. She was obviously annoyed. The hostess was a little odd too. When we walked in without a reso she told us it would be 45 mins but they had a ton of empty tables. She saw me look and explained they were reserved. We said ok and then no more than 5 mins later we get the txt that our table was ready. It worked in our favor but 45 mins to 5 mins is a big discrepancy, I don’t understand the miscalculation. As far as the food, since the crab Benedict wasn’t on the menu I got the basic eggs Benedict. They were average and the presentation was poor. I was a little grossed out by it because it looked like everything was just sort of thrown on the plate. The biscuits were semi smushed and burnt. Overall sloppy. I’m very disappointed that I can no longer look forward to my fave breakfast place. I hope they can turn things around

Good but not as fantastic as I’d expected, especially since we’ve been dying to try this place out for a while. Stuffed French toast wasn’t actually stuffed, but rather just two slices of French toast with a smear of the«stuffing» spread in between the slices. It was still good though, but not as expected.

Blue Pig Tavern at Congress Hall never fails to deliver. In the past year, we have been there for Father’s Day dinner while on vacation, my husband’s 40th for breakfast while staying at Congress Hall, and last week for Mother’s Day/my daughter’s 4th birthday. This time my husband and I both got the trout for the Blue Plate special and it was delicious! Even the Ceasar salad we started with was tasty. The Sea Salt Carmel cheesecake for dessert was phenomenal and we are still talking about it a week later. The kids’ chicken tenders were both tender and crispy and we enjoyed them as well!!! :) The waitress brought out an ice cream brownie with a candle for my daughter which she loved.

We have been to The Blue Pig Tavern several times and have always received great service and delicious, fresh food. This past weekend, we had a brunch reservation for 16 people at another restaurant. When that restaurant failed to accommodate us in a timely manner, we called the Blue Pig. In the time it took us to drive there from Cape May Point, the Blue Pig had set-up our table which we were seated at immediately. Our server, Alyssa, was great. And, everyone loved their meals. It was definitely the silver lining to being treated so rudely at the previous restaurant. We were happy that the Blue Pig not only got our money, but also our positive review.

Was warmly greeted by Alex, my waiter. I started with Congressional Cosmo before my meal. I ordered the Hangar Steak for dinner, no fries and substituted with a beet salad with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was excellent, Alex chose the Cab vineyard. Everything was amazing to this point! I ordered the apple pie a la mode with a cappuccino-to-go to end the meal… still warm and ice cream packed in a separate container which remained cold from my walk to hotel 2 blocks away. Awesome service and food… I look forward to returning next month!

A cold rainy night off season and dinner where you could actually valet a car and sit by a warm fire. That, in itself, is a pretty good start. The New England Clam Chowder — Little Neck Clams, Smoked Bacon, Oyster Crackers — was not the kind of chowder I would have thought. Not very New Englandy but on the taste scale one of the better ones I have had. For the main course I had a wonderful Shepherd’s Pie with a pork filling that was kind of like pulled pork in a pie. Shepherd’s Pie? For me, this is probably the first time I have ever had it and it was a wonderful experience. So far, taking everything into account, this has been the best meal on this trip to Cape May.

This place gets mix review but the few times I have been there, we have enjoyed each meal. In the winter months, ask to sit near the fireplace. It’s cozy and romantic. Be prepared to wait if you don’t have a reservation. Correction, even if you do have one and it’s later in the evening. We tend to go earlier in the evening(5−6pm). Here is a concoction of what I have tried here: New England Clam Chowder — Little Neck Clams, Smoked Bacon, Oyster Crackers — Average — was more soupy than creamy. Roasted Beet — Mixed Greens, Arugula, Crumbled Goat Cheese, Candied Pecans, Balsamic Vinaigrette — Very good. Sauteed Free Range Chicken Breast — Bacon and Cheddar Grits, Beach Plum Farm Succotash, Haricot Vert, Herb Jus — Very good. Very flavorful. Turkey Burger — House Ground Turkey, Pepper Jack Cheese And House-Made Beach Plum Farm Pickles — Average. Could use more seasoning. Grilled Hanger Steak — House-cut Steak Fries, Caramelized Shallots, Red Wine Demiglace, Saffron Aioli, Beach Plum Farm Pickled Vegetables — Very good. Perfectly cooked. Service — All the times we have gone, it’s been very good. No complaints. Prices — On the higher side. Expect to pay $ 25+ for an entrée. Drinks — Full bar. Drink specialties are pricey. Beer menu is limited but they have locals. Overall — A very good experience. ENJOY!

Excellent clam chowder. The special was schnitzel with gravy, red cabbage and spaetzle. Schnitzel was just ok, but still tasted good. The red cabbage was delicious, sweet and fresh. Adequate service from a friendly waiter who occassionally showed up uninvited. Not impressive in an almost empty restaurant.

My party made a reservation for outdoor seating but they sat us in a weird spot. The gravel on the ground felt like quicksand. Our chairs kept sinking in. The other part of the outdoor area is much nicer. Our food was good. I got a fish special which came with polenta, and it was quite tasty. My friend’s beet salad had giant chunks of goat cheese which didn’t seem too flattering. My zucchini salad was really not great – too much onion and the zucchinis lacked flavor. My group always returns for tradition but something is always lacking…

I’ve been to the Blue Pig for breakfast and for lunch. Lunch was tasty, but nothing special. Breakfast, on the other hand, is where they excel. I’ve had waffles, stuffed french toast, eggs Benedict and last week an amazing crab & asparagus omelet with hollandaise sauce and I have never been disappointed. Service is usually on point, however I find the drinks to be very inconsistent. I love a good Bloody Mary and I’ve had several amazing ones here — but not always. It seems at times the servers make their own cocktails to serve(because they’re busy? short-handed? I’m not sure why) and I’ve had a cocktail terrible drinks that I had to send back. And I hate wasting booze! Sitting by the fire, never feeling rushed, consistently tasty breakfasts and good service keep me coming back. The drinks? Well, I’ll just keep trying. ;)

During our recent and first stay at Congress Hall, we figured it would be appropriate to check out the in-house restaurant. We had dinner at the Blue Pig Tavern, as well as breakfast the next morning, as we took advantage of the«Rise and Shine» package when we made our hotel reservation — a $ 20 breakfast voucher for the Blue Pig for only $ 10. One thing I really like about the Blue Pig is that all of their food is locally sourced. Much of their produce and eggs come from the local Beach Plum Farm in Cape May. Our first meal here was dinner. Not knowing how busy a place like this would be in March, I made reservations on Open Table, and received a text about 15 minutes before the reservation time that our table was ready. We showed up and were seated immediately. I enjoyed the atmosphere, seated in the dining room with the fireplace in view; however, we were close to the porch area and got a bit of a draft from time to time. My husband ordered a shrimp cocktail appetizer and the shepherd’s pie. For myself, I started with a small garden salad and got the veggie burger for my entrée. We both enjoyed our meals, and overall, the service at the Blue Pig was excellent. We were given bread, our meals came out quickly, and our water glasses always full. Being on a mini vacation, I also decided to treat myself with a drink and got the house specialty, the Blue Pig Martini. Not my style of drink at all, but I figured, when in Rome… It’s a very sweet pineapple drink and was a fun treat. For breakfast the next day, we also had reservations, but just showed up early with no problem. My husband ordered the eggs benedict and for myself, I got the only vegan option on the menu: the oatmeal, with an added banana. I also decided to get a glass of their fresh pressed juice, which was very nice. All of those nice things being said, there was nothing particularly special about the food that could justify the high prices of the Blue Pig. Our dinner bill came to about $ 80, and breakfast was about $ 40(before taking off the $ 20 voucher). While it’s nice to treat yourself once in a while, and I get that it’s part of the«resort» atmosphere, I don’t think we’ll return here on our future visits to Cape May. We’d rather check out some of the other local restaurants, hopefully priced a little more economically.
