Simply the best chowder around! Try the seafood chowder… yum!!! I can’t get enough of it. Kind of addicted to the stuff. :-)

Every once in a while, I stop to see if the attitudes have changed for the better with the cashiers. The parking is horrible and the location is dangerous, but it’s convenient due to lack of other stores in the vicinity. Unfortunately, it appears if you don’t go in every single day, your business means nothing to them. The cashier staff have, historically, been so rude. If you want the basics of someone saying«hi», «hello», «thank you», «have a nice day», etc., don’t stop here. Twelve years of giving them a chance to be nice to people other than those who do not eat their food every single day and they still haven’t changed. New staff and same attitude. What ever happened to treating all customers the same? The worst part about it? I’m a local. Can you imagine how they treat tourists? The owners may be great and offer good food, but they need to teach their staff manners or show them how to smile and say hello.

Awesome fresh homemade food at more than fair prices. Old time Mom and Pop shop owned by local couple– makes it yummy and meaningful to support.

«You tourists?» «No! Well… we’re visiting friends and stopped the night here.» «Hmm…well, I suppose that’s fine» My husband and I look at each other as we hand over the credit card. «GASP! That’s the date I got divorced from my first husband!!» And on it went, with many rather personal questions asked – and given – along the way. This is a cute and obviously eccentric shop. Think of normal gas-station stuff with an obvious bent towards the camping set… bandages, s’more equipment, grill supplies and matches abound. Aloe Vera, on the other hand, does not. They also apparently house a small lunch counter that was closed when we went. The lady at the register was a trip, and left me pretty amused after her questions about our marriage, my husbands profession, what we were doing up there, who our friend was, and so on. Great little real country store.
