We love Miyako! They are so friendly even when we have our wild toddler with us. Great quality food, and an awesome lunch buffet!

The Sushi is usually fantastic, at least the Sashimi, Nigiri, and hand rolls. I can’t speak to the other type rolls as I never get those, I find them too busy, cant taste the fish for sauce and stuff. I have only tried the lunch buffet once, I didn’t care for it. In short, 5 stars for the good stuff, minus one star for the lunch buffet.

Now im not one for Unilocal reviews but this time the restaurant deserves it. More often then not when I go to a new sushi restaurant im usually on edge and wondering if im going to recieve quality food and service. Ive noticed that every time im there everything is squeaky clean and how its supposed to be. My first visit consisted of 4 rolls and nigiri so i could test the waters and view the quality. Immediately I realized I had hit the jackpot. Plus its also reassuring to get their input on what items they enjoy. My horizons have broadened since i first stepped through their door. Every time ive had the fortune of eating here on a dozen occasions i’ve recieved impeccable service from the staff members, from the waitresses all the way to the chefs behind the bar when i choose to sit so close and admire their form of art. Plus its sort of interesting to watch sumo wrestling while grubbing on «Da Bomb» doused in soy and wasabi. Overall i strongly encourage anyone living or visiting Capitola to stop by there and enjoy some fine cuts of fish and prepare to eat and be treated like royalty — Jackson Laughlin, your loyal customer

Amazing lunch buffet. A gyoza, noodles, teriyaki beef, a variety of tempura, salad options, a variety of sushi rolls, and desserts. All for ~ $ 15 with a drink.

Walking distance from my house. Lots of specialty rolls to choose from The LIONKINGROLL is my favorite roll A– I am a die hard fan of the Lion King and Disney in general B– It is also an amazing tasting roll The sashimi is very fresh and tender. Price is good. Place is never dirty Service is never poor. They always play Finding Nemo one one of the tvs! Love this place. :)

I LOVETHISPLACE. I got the spicy garlic roll and of course the Udon Noodle Soup. GETTHESOUP. It is seriously so bomb. Our servers were also so sweet. I have never had anything bad here. I have never been for lunch, but I heard that their lunch buffet is AWESOME. So, I’m going to try that. If I am going to stuff my face with anything, I hope it would be sushi. Anyway, go here. You won’t be disappointed.

I have eaten at Miyako for the lunch buffet. I was very impressed with the items on the buffet. They were monitored very carefully and all the food was replenished frequently and everything was fresh. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was intimate. I never felt like I was eating too close to other customers.

Shut down at another local(Santa Cruz) sushi place on Valentine’s night — no to go order possible… Next day still craving so stopped by on a whim. Place is packed at noon. Sweet owner/host greets me. I ask for a to go order. She is calm but it is apparent she is not thrilled. Yet, like a consummate professional and genuine human being(unlike the unnamed SC spot), she kindly accepts and is probably thrilled with the $ 90 to go lunch for 2. She lets me know it will be 35 minutes. Enough time to pack up from the hotel and drag the baby to the door. We arrive in 30. Order is ready. She opens every to go box and explains the roll/nigiri to me. I have placed hundreds of to go orders from numerous cuisines and never this thorough and genuine of a demonstration of love for your craft and adornment of the establishment you call home. I was blown away. Place has been open 40 years and she has been owner for 10+. No wonder! Classy, friendly, high quality with fair prices and fantastic customer service. I would solely come back to visit Miyako when in the Santa Cruz area just due to this one take out order that made my whole weekend. Sometimes that one meal can be everything to a family. Thank you Miyako!!!

Absolutely delicious every single time! The salmon sashimi is out of this world and the portions are very generous. Great atmosphere with friendly & fast service. My new favorite sushi spot!

Lunch from the menu was good but the salad bar lunch was a bit weak. Staff were very friendly. Clean restaurant. Very little décor and most of it seemed more Korean than Japanese. Good place but some better options available nearby.

First visit here. Small/vomfy location. Parking is decent but could use more. Came at lunch time it seems yo have a busy lunch crowd mainly for the Buffett. I came in with a small delau to be greated. Once I was I got partially walked to s table but she was distracted wiyh another guest. Before I wad offered a menu there was a semi-assumption I wad here for the sushi buffett. I took a look. For what I saw and the cost I opted for the menu. Once my food arrived it looked decent but then I realized they didn’t provide a napkin or chopsticks. Thankfully the warm items I did ordered remained warm until I could get some. While sitting here I figured out Finding Nemo is on a loop as well ad the sumo wrestling and the nat geo penguins show. Nice try on the entertainment but fail. Food tasted decent. Small portion for the price. I assume trying to support the buffett at everyone elses expense. In the end; I would eat here again but would consider another place first.

Great food and super great«real Japanese» beers like Orion and Echigo. This means so much to me. None of the fake«Bud owned» brands like Kirin of Sapporo — Yuck! Anyway, I love this place.

Surprisingly delicious! We stopped at the Miyako Japanese Restaurant based on Unilocal reviews and a sudden whim for Japanese food. It was great! The sushi was fresh and the rice was perfect I had a combination tempura dinner and the tempura was nice and crispy with a great assortment of vegetables. The SO had pork tonkatsu and he said it was moist, tender and with just the right amount of breading. Both dishes were beautifully presented and appetizingly executed. The décor is interesting; each piece looks like it was specially selected and is displayed as a work of art. It made the ambiance a little more up scale and intriguing. I liked it. The servers were friendly and attentive without being annoying and they generously gave us a bag specially made to commemorate their anniversary when we left! A wonderful meal at affordable prices. We will definitely return next time we are in town!

Went here based on Unilocal reviews. For sushi lovers & non-sushi lovers, everyone enjoyed their food and for a reasonable price. We LOVED this place. Great food, good prices, amazing quality of fish. I’m a stickler for sushi, as I eat the raw stuff, and I was not disappointed. Staff was very nice, food was brought out quickly(even cooked items), and the bento was HUGE. Also, lots of parking which is always a huge plus. Can’t wait to come back!

Genuinely enjoyed the ambiance although it was somewhat louder than my taste. Sashimi sake wasn’t to die par my guests taste yet we enjoyed our rolls. They were well put together and portioned… I would definitely revisit this place. I’d like to get more acquainted with their special rolls menu. Very affordable and pleasant atmospheric sitting in booths.

Arrived at 8:40 pm on a Monday night. Place was empty, servers were friendly. I had the rainbow roll, which was pretty good. I asked for green tea, but note that unlike other Sushi places, the green tea is _not_complimentary. However, it’s probably the best green tea I’ve had so far in a sushi restaurant, costs $ 1 although I’m not sure if it came with unlimited refills. Overall a great experience.

This review is pretty biased… My boyfriends family actually knows the owners so we were treated pretty well. Great service and great sushi! Don’t exactly remember what we ordered, but everything was delicious. The umi tasted fresh!
