I have been seeing Dr. Li and his associate, Dan for the last 2 years. Both are very professional and compassionate about my back problems. They both explain everything in detail and keep me informed of options available. They always answer my questions and never try to rush me. I would recommend them to anyone having chronic pain. The entire staff have been a pleasure to work with.

Dr. Li, if you can call him that, did not even want to touch me during exam. asked his assistant to do this for him. He also made a condescending remark to his medical assistant, «that she be better off being a waitress than working for him.» making her feel bad as well as bringing down her self esteem. Also never showed me my MRI, or explained those findings. Without communicating with me, scheduled me for some sort of surgery that I knew nothing about, therefore I cancelled it. The reason why I’ve written this, is that anyone who would make an employee feel bad in public is not someone i would trust working on my body. if he didn’t care about her, why would he care about me?

Gosh, I had a completely different experience than the other reviewer. Dr. Li was very kind to me. He seems to be respectful of more complex issues than a typical doctor(lyme, fibromylgia, CFS etc…). This is very unusual and really special if you deal these chronic conditions. There were elderly patients in wheel chairs in the waiting area and quite a variety of people that he sees. I was very organized when I saw him. Be sure to have specifics written down when you see him and it will help the visit go smoother(simple things, like«It hurts X, when I do X). I think that might have helped. The only problem I had was that I have a fragrance allergy and the waiting area had a air-freshener odor to it. I informed the staff that I needed to wait outside. They were kind and understanding. The phone system is a little weird. If you get the«machine» there’s a long message, but I found that if I stay on the line, someone will pick up. He has an osteopathic doctor who’s there on Fridays. His name is Dr. Heller. He’s one of the nicest doctors I’ve even met and seems very seasoned. He also has an office in Aptos. I suggest going there if you have a problem with fragrance and get referred to him.

Clinic itself isn’t too bad but dr. Li is terrible as a personal doctor. I’ve never had a visit with him that lasted more than ten minutes, and he didn’t even look me in the eye… Typical doctor from this area… :(
