There will be no happy reunion because I’m never going back there ever again. Ever! While visiting a friend in Carbondale, we decided to go to this«restaurant». What a mistake. The food was awful. We complained to the manager, but she didn’t seem to care nor did she seem to have bathed that day. Stink, stank, stunk. Avoid this abomination at all costs.

Was pretty good. The location makes it look like it won’t be that good but it was a lot better than I thought it’d be. They had a little lunch buffet which was nice because I didn’t know they had one. The service was wonderful, the lady was very very nice and prompt on getting plates out of the way and getting refills for my brother and I. The food was all nice and hot under whatever heat lamps they had. They weren’t to busy. The spring rolls and rice are my favorite. My brother really liked the sesame chicken. Will go back next time we are craving chinese! It was about $ 18 for 2 lunch buffets and my brother got lemonade, I got water. So it was all pretty good! No real complaints. It’s lacking a star because I feel like there is still better chinese food around in Carbondale at a decent price, but so far, this is the best we’ve found!

It was so terrible :( I use to love this place… I don’t know what happened. Came here because it was my lady time, and momma needed her carb fix. I wanted General Tso’s, but more importantly CRABRAGOON. The buffet is small, and I knew that so I wasn’t bothered. But the options weren’t spectacular. I was so excited to see the foil chicken(which is hard to find in some places), but no general tso’s :(I did get the sweet and sour chicken, beef and broc, lo mein, sesame chicken, fried rice, and a million crab raggoon’s. Got our food and it was just terrible. The egg rolls were cut in half and for some reason tasted like bologna. I’m guessing the meat was spoiled. All of the meat was pretty bad, and I could only eat the lo mein and the crab ragoon. Those were great, but the rest was just really sour tasting. The staff was good, the place looked good, but the food was just really, really terrible. It was either dry or like I said, the meat tasted off. I left hungry.

Very greasy Chinese buffet and the food can get old at times… Always hot when I go in. With that being said I love their twice cooked pork and onion chicken over rice. The food is priced well. if you want something made ask right away or you will not get it

My husband and I went for the lunch buffet a few weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised! The food was pretty good! They have these foil packets filled with ground chicken called«Silver Chicken» that were very tasty. The price of the buffet was very reasonable, I think it was $ 6.25, which was nice!

Seven years later, it was as if only minutes had passed. In my grand tour of Carbondale I spent the week wandering around the city, being truly impressed at how much positive change had come to C’dale, and feeling surprised, and a little bit lonely, over the fact that so little had remained exactly the same. I should have been proud of this — my alma mater and many local businesses had seemingly come out of this recession stronger than when I left it at the peak of the boom years. For the four years I haunted in C’dale, Happy Reunion was our gold-standard. It was where we went when a friend was visiting, when family was in town, or when we all wanted to get together for dinner. I don’t know how my friends found it, or why they went there over Hunan, but I didn’t care — it was really a place that became quite special and dear to me because of its cheap eats and great food. So on my very last night in town I went there for dinner, this time all alone. It was a quiet night(it always seemed to be a quiet night). It was exactly the same inside and out, and the food was just as fresh and tasty as it was back then. I ate ravenously, as if I was making up for the seven years that had passed since I last could have visited, and every little thing I had was even better than I remembered. I swear, their cream cheese wontons/crab rangoon must be illegal in the other 49 states; it’s that addictive. At one point the waiter/busboy started chatting with me. Maybe I looked mystified by the whole thing, or maybe he felt bad for the lady dining alone on a Thursday night, but I told him how glad I was that the place hadn’t changed. He launched into talking about how much everything else had changed. I didn’t care. Happy Reunion is still mine.

The old man that owns this restaurant is really nice. He talks to you and makes sure you are okay. The restaurant and buffet is really small, but cheap. You will see a crowd during lunchtime. Dinnertime is pretty slow. The best thing there is the fried rice and that’s about it.

Very good buffet. We went in the eve. They had fried shrimp and oysters which surprised me. All the dishes were tasty, high quality. Great sauces. Very reasonable price.
