Felt like a pastrami sandwich … So I went to Ben’s Deli to see how good there’s was . I was pleased with the freshness of the rye bread and the amount of meat in the sandwich. I also saw there were many other things that I could have ordered including chicken pot pies and numerous other Delicacies. Ben’s has a large dining area but I chose to eat outside at the Garden tables, being it was a very nice day . I shall return to Ben’s Deli and try some of their other items & look forward to Unilocaling in the future. Jim D.

This Ben’s is just incredible. I am addicted to the hot pastrami sandwich on rye with mustard. Really nice place to eat, I love the atmosphere. Both types of pickles are amazing. Whenever I buy food here I am left in a really good mood for the rest of the day.

Make sure you ask for«Freddy» the Counterman; He’s awesome — will always get your order correct. He also makes amazing sandwiches. Make sure you get the Pastrami. Ben’s has been around for quite a long time; especially the Carle Place location. It’s on my short list. .. . I like it.

The waitress Debbie was wonderful. First time we had such exceptional service! We had pastrami sandwiches and N order of onion rings. Everything was delicious. Hot and ready quickly. We are going to look for Debbie again!!!

The food was okay. Their fries are bulky and taste great. They also bring you pickles and Cole slaw before your meal. There was a bit of a small issue, and perhaps I’m just reaching here, but everyone who serviced me dropped plates and glasses on the table. The waitress also shoved my phone away with the plate that she was delivering. Yeah o know, my phone shouldn’t be on the table. Blah blah. Also, the waitress didn’t hand me the bill, nor did she place it sitting up on the table. Instead, she dropped it in a basket full of bread that was on the table. Jeez, am I being too whiny here? Average meal, below average service. Could be better.

Came here with my godmother for lunch. For a Kosher place this is pretty good but I do tend to stay away from Kosher food except for the kosher dunkin donuts near my job because I can get vegetarian meat there along with cheese. They don’t have any dairy here to keep it kosher and since I’m a cheese hound I was a little upset. I had the veggie burger and the potato pancakes. The veggie burger was good despite the lack of cheese and the potato pancakes with apple sauce were out of this world. For dessert I had the apple strudel which was half impressive. Overall they were pretty good but I was upset about the non cheese availability and I can’t get past that. I’m not asking them to change because I understand Ben’s is Kosher and honestly it’s better than other Kosher places I’ve eaten at.

Very nice service, but small portions for too much $(1 tiny piece of kishke is $ 5?), but worst part, brisket sandwich, on top of being on the small side, was dry flat only — & that was supposed to be the fatty/moist«fresh» brisket(not the lean one)…also they took the sandwich combo off of the lunch special… very disappointed… still 3 stars b/c I Jewish deli food !

HIGHLYRECOMMENDED 4.5STARS The last reviewer and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at this«Ben’s» on Friday, 2/19, along with eleven others. Non-locals may be unaware that Ben’s Kosher Delis have been a Long Island institution for decades, with some other locations on LI, one in NYC, one in Boca Raton and one, I think, recently opened restaurant in Westchester. The Carle Place Ben’s is in a very large shopping center just east of the Mineola border. Those of a certain age may recall that the prime LI location of Tower Records(records?) was once in this shopping center. The shopping center has a well lit parking lot with ample parking. It was easy to find a convenient space. This Ben’s is bright, clean, well-lit and large, with plenty of space between tables. It is not a loud restaurant. Upon sitting at your table, you notice that the restaurant provides complimentary and large portions of its delicious and highly addictive Coleslaw and Pickles, both cucumber and dill. Our friendly, helpful and efficient waitress, Lisa, generously provided seconds of both complimentary items. Lisa patiently prepared separate checks and applied coupons which a few diners used(Not Me!!). Some members ordered Matzo Ball Soup. It arrived in large bowls of broth with a single large«ball». Members thoroughly enjoyed the soup. Others ordered sandwiches, mostly Pastrami and Tongue. One member said that the sandwich meat was fresher tasting at this Ben’s than at the Woodbury and Greenvale locations. I ordered takeout from the Woodbury branch a couple of months ago and I must agree that my sandwich here was tastier and fresher. One observation about the sandwiches: the restaurant calls them«overstuffed» but I thought they were pretty skimpy considering the price tag. Do yourself a favor… fork out another five or six bucks and order a two or three meat sandwich as I did. I depicted my very huge and overstuffed sandwich in a photograph(currently No. 50). It was an absolute beauty, containing copious amounts of Pastrami, Corned Beef and Brisket. It was heavenly, adorned with Russian Dressing, Coleslaw and Deli Mustard. I recommend this combination highly. I had a flashback to a one of a kind sandwich I had at the original Second Avenue Deli thirty years ago. I washed it down with a Ben’s-branded Root Beer which was also awesome. I finished the sandwich and was too full for dessert. My meal, with tip, was thirty dollars. Ben’s Kosher Deli of Carle Place has great two and three meat sandwiches and mouth watering complimentary Coleslaw and Pickles. I highly recommend this Ben’s location.

Great sandwiches. Fresh food and fast friendly service. One sandwich is big enough for 2 people. Plenty of parking in a well lit parking lot. Great casual place

I’m appalled as to why Ben’s is so popular. Nothing I had was good. I understand cold cuts are supposed to be cold, but come on, I was served nearly frozen slabs of meat on rock hard bread! Where is the flavor? There was no seasoning or flavor. I added a bunch of condiments to make the food edible. The best thing I had here was the cold slaw, not even the pickle.

I have been using bens for over 35 years. All I can say is NEVER again! We ordered a platter for exact amount of people of which some hardly ate. There wasn’t enough food to make sandwiches When we called Kevin who we were told was the manager he was very stern saying he has been doing this for over 40 yrs and weighed everything himself. It was embarrassing even the salads were not as good as usual. What a shame. They lost 9 family’s business in one night!

I am happy to report that after returning to Ben’s Deli a few times since my previous Unilocal review, I can now upgrade my rating to four stars, as the portions have gotten a little larger for the price, the food is very good, and the service is very good too! I am able to base this review off of my visit yesterday, as I met a good friend of mine here for dinner as we both like Ben’s and the location was convenient for both of us. We arrived here at about 8:00PM and it was not crowded, as it was about an hour away from closing time. We were greeted by an amiable host, who was a bit tall with a mustache and goatee. We opted for a cozy and plush booth in the back, which was very comfortable. Not unlike the other times I have been here, I felt that this Ben’s was very clean and inviting. While this Ben’s may not be as old-school as some other kosher delis I have visited, I take back what I said in my previous review that they try too hard to emulate the New York deli atmosphere, which makes it a bit gaudy. I have come to appreciate the atmosphere, which is slightly kitschy, with odes to New York and art deco décor lining the restaurant. After sitting down, we were immediately greeted by our waitress Tina, who was sweet, personable, and on-point! The other staff were nice too, including the brunette waitress who did not have the best attitude on a previous visit in my review, was very nice too, so I guess everyone has a bad day once in a while. Once we ordered our meals, we were brought pickles and sour tomatoes, which were salty, sour, and tangy. About twenty minutes after we ordered our meals, I received my Twin Grilled Chicken Breast Platter with two sides, and I found the grilled chicken to be very good, as the chicken breasts were pleasantly salty and peppery, moist, and juicy. I also enjoyed my two sides, which included fluffy and slightly salty mashed potatoes topped with requested sweet and caramelized onions with a slight bite as well as crisp green beans. While I did not try it, my friend enjoyed his generous portion of Hawaiian Chicken with well prepared broccoli as well as a large and fluffy potato pancake. The prices for our dishes were about $ 17, which may seem expensive at first, but it was not that bad as the portions were large enough to take home, the quality was very good, and kosher food tends to cost a little more than non kosher food. Overall, I am glad that Ben’s has gotten better again and I would definitely return again when I am in the mood for solid kosher deli food.

After deciding that I didn’t want Italian, Asian, Greek or just a burger I thought a trip to the deli would be fun and I must say… it was. So off to Bens we went, all of 6 minutes away, parked the car and entered. We were greeted by a smiling cashier who confirmed if we were staying or taking out, after confirming, we were directed to the«sitting line» and waited our turn. It went very quickly and we even had a choice of tables My wife and I did pretty standard thing here which is… we share. Within a minute or two we had the standard pickles and cole slaw and began our feast. A very smiling(and apparently a regular) waitress came over a took our order. Remember, we’re predictable so she could almost guess. To start: One chicken soup with Matzaoh Ball and one with Kreplach(a jewish word for a kosher won-ton.) Both soups came quickly and were hot. My only issue here is that they both needed salt(lots and lots of salt.) Apparently Bens uses a minimum amount, if any at all of salt. I’d would prefer to use it at the front end to develop the flavor rather than the back end to make up for it not being used. So after a hefty heaping we ate our soup… Again, the broth was good but could have used a little extra seasoning up front. The Matzah Ball was big and had a good light texture while the kreplach was also good with plenty of meat stuffing Stuffed Derma: Clearly and acquired taste and this was excellent… A well seasoned«vegetable stuffing» in a beef casing… It had a good firm consistency, not mushy. Again it’s not meat, its a kosher kind of Sausage. Two nice pieces perfect for sharing with plenty of hot gravy. Now for the main dish: Twin sandwiches(one corned beef and one pastrami) on individual small rolls.. I must say that was very impressed with these overstuffed sandwiches. Plenty of warm, tender meat on two very fresh rolls… Well sliced so they were not stringy or too thick to chew. I must say that throughout our meal, the waitress was very attentive to us checking in from time to time and my water glass was always filled. There is a lot of electricity at Bens and it makes it a fun experience being in the large, clean, and bright restaurant. I definitely enjoyed my meal here and look forward to going back and trying some of their other dishes.

Had dinner here again and really enjoyed the meal. We asked for the kishka well done and had pastrami and corned beef sandwiches. The matzoh ball soup was delicious(although mine is better) and we still love coming.

What a change at Bens. And not for the better. I have been going to Bens for many years. I dined there last night and was very disappointed. Spinach pie was terrible and the odor was sickening. Chicken soup with rice was nothing more than warm water with mush. No flavor at all. The potato pancake was bland. My husband said his pastrami was just ok. $ 55 for a really bad meal. I won’t go there again.

I have been a regular at the Manhattan branch for years. I was in the mood for that food and ambience. The Carle Place branch doesn’t measure up. The good old kosher restaurnt ambience was missing. I wanted to smell franks, pastrami, pickl. The air seemed to have been cleaned. Not that there were any bad smells. The biggest disappointment though, was the pea soup. In NY. In NY pea soup is really thick. As it should be. That why they say«a fog is as thick as pea soup.» Here it was as if it was 50⁄50 with ordinary chicken soup. The croutons were bland cubes of challah instead the golden garlicky croutons provided in NY. Well, the Pastrami was as good as ever, at least,

While a combo sandwich is outstanding, it will run you 15 bux, for a small rye bread with krout, corned beef, and pastrami; served with two delicious pickles… juicy, tender and fantastic sandwich that pains me to fork over 15 dollars for, but I sometimes cannot resist. Not the best service, and clearly not the best prices… however it is some of the best kosher stuff you’ll find. Don’t judge it on the fact they lack items that aren’t kosher… it’s a kosher deli, what did you expect?

Would go here all the time and the food was always great and the guys working the deli were always friendly. Today on the other hand they left out the salads we ordered. Went back to get them. Got everything to the car then had to go back again because we noticed they also didn’t give us mustard or the Russian dressing we ordered. Then the manager started screaming at us because we requested the meats to be properly packed because they we leaking all over the bag because they didn’t use one of the foam trays. We have been going to bens for probably over 20 years and I will NEVER be going or refer anyone to this business after this horrible experience. The customer was right. The order was screwed up 3 times. And the lovely manager needs to learn how to treat people with respect. Calling people white trash because you screwed up the order, unreal. Avoid this place until they hire a new manager that doesn’t try to start a fist fight with the customers.

Damn they get you in and out fast. Three people, we may have been out in about 25 minutes. Nice staff, very friendly. Though I wasn’t even fully done eating and the bus boy was clearing everything away. Surprised they’re out of tongue — dad always gets it when he’s here so he was disappointed, but oh well. How a Jewish deli runs out I don’t know. Mom and I shared the enormous half pastrami and half corned beef sandwiches and they were delicious as always. Their French fries are so good! Some of the best.

Usually love this place and the service but today’s experience was awful. Called in an order an hour before pickup. Arrived 70 minutes later and order was not ready. When I got to my Mothers Day destination, we found items missing from the order and NOPICKLES were in the bag. Having to drive 15 minutes to go back ruined our dinner.

Came at 10:30 on Sunday morning looking for lox and bagel with onion, capers, tomato and cream cheese. They told me they opened at 11 and they didn’t serve that in their restaurant. They sent me a few doors down to Bagel Boss. LOL! Who knew that in New York at a Kosher restaurant, i couldn’t get lox and a bagel!

After not being able to decide what to eat today while at work I finally decided to hit up Ben’s. I was back in my office in less than a half hour which was pretty awesome considering it’s a Friday in the Garden City/Mineola area. I must say this Ben’s is HUGE! It’s laid out pretty nicely and it’s bright inside. I was not expecting the revolving door either. Once inside I felt like having a pint of Matzoh ball soup. Yum! Now if only I had some black pepper back at the office I would’ve been golden. Now the cool thing which we’re all excited about in our office is that they deliver. Sweeeet! We love us some Ben’s! I’ll definitely be back or uh… I’ll be back in spirit while I happily eat in my office cause they just came and delivered our food.

I hardly ever eat here and I’m not a huge kosher deli fan. If you are in the mood for pastrami, corned beef etc this place has you covered. Its definitely not the best, but it does the job. I like the cole slaw and pickles that come with the meal. More often than not, I would prefer a $ 8.00 large hero from a regular deli. I feel that $ 20.00 or so is just too much $$$ for lunch on a regular basis.

I love the food here, but it can be on the pricey side so not somewhere I can afford to go often to get my Kosher deli fix. I like when they have a variety of latke flavors, though the regular potato ones are DELICIOUS. The sandwiches are always good — I like tongue on rye. Other favorites are the stuffed derma and the kasha varnishkes(sp?).

I tried Bens in Carle place for the first time, as I walked in I was greeted promptly and I opted to sit at the counter. The place is maintained very clean and the décor very modern as well. The servers and hostess are very pleasant. So I opted for Guess? pastrami on rye with some mustard. it came out rather quickly, it was nice and warm and it had good flavor. Pickles were pretty good as well. I was somewhat disappointed because I left hungry, I thought for the price it would have had more pastrami. But it was good! would I return? yes to try some of the other items on the menu. Look for their coupons in the Sundays paper…
