Only two stars here. Came in for breakfast and was offered the buffet which I never have because I don’t like to eat food that was cooked hours ago and is sitting in chafing dishes for 50 other people to handle. Ordered bacon and eggs and I know what they did. They cooked the two eggs and took a hash brown and a few strips of bacon out of the buffet bacon. I like my food prepared to order and was really disappointed. Thought La Costa was a high end facility but really isn’t. It obviously lost a lot of what made its reputation.

I went to the breakfast buffet and enjoyed my experience. I especially liked the fresh bread, butter spreads, and fruit preserves. Everything came out fresh and with a smile. The staff genuinely takes care of you here. I sat outside and watched the golfers.

Bistro 65 let me start by saying the staff and view was awesome. But the food, i have to give it a thumbs down. The potatos where dry flavorless, the pankcakes hard. The only think that was some what okay, was the omelet. For the price, your better off going somewhere else.

Service was kind of mediocre but I can understand when you have 2 servers trying to contend with about 16 – 20 people. We were here for a dress rehearsal dinner and there was a lot of people! Food was decent. Menu only listed 2 appetizers, seasonal soup and caeser salad. When the food started arriving a lot of people received french onion soup, which I would have loved to have gotten except it wasn’t listed on the menu so I didn’t realize it was available. Let me just say it was a very disappointing moment for me and my husband! Had the steak for the entrée and it was cooked perfectly at medium rare and came with truffle fries. Menu just has it listed as fries. We were not offered steak knives until they were asked. I would think that it would be expected that they would anticipate us needing steak knives! Overall, meal was really good, service could’ve been better.

Bistro 65 was an average spot me. Aside from the gorgeous view the restaurant boasts, the staff was very friendly & attentive. It is located inside the Omni La Costa Resort. Our server, Anthony, was great. Always checking to see if our group of 13 was doing okay & apologized profusely when the bread didn’t make it to our table. The bread was worth the wait! Their menu was nice & simple that offered sandwiches, salads, apps & a few entrée options. You’ll find the drinks on the back. Opted to go with their Rose, which came in a cute little champagne bottle(see pic). Grabbed a couple of the calamari apps. Not really made to share. Really good from what I tasted & came w/a different tasting sauce– reminded me of(thicker) lime juice when I tasted it. One of their menu options was Salmon w/veggies & quinoa. Not a quinoa fan so I substituted that with french fries at no extra cost. I’d say the salmon is in my top 5. They put a type of tomato sauce on top of the fish & it complimented it very well. Enjoyed it to the last bite! Fries was a weird option, but they didn’t really offer anything else that would pair well with it. Nonetheless, the fries were crunchy & tasteful. Nothing wrong with this restaurant, just didn’t impress me as much. The Omni Resort though, is a whole ‘nother story!

I was travelling around Carlsbad with my family until we came across Omni Resort La Costa to eat at Bistro 65. It is located underground and when you eat outside, you have this beautiful scene of the golf course right in front of you. Of course it’s a nice place so you have to dress a little fancy for it. Nonetheless, it’s perfect for dinner. Speaking of which, the food was excellent. I had steak frites which is just steak with fries on the side. That was really good. I enjoyed it very much. Hope to see you soon! ^_^

Nice view if you sit outside. However I ordered my 2 year old chicken noodle soup, it was canned Campbell’s soup! Our server confirmed my assumption. Was turned off after that. I had French onion soup it was okay, husband has fish tacos that he liked. I’m just astonished they serve non home made processed soup on their menu for children.

Our server was great but the food was very mediocre. Duck tacos are not good. Steak had flavor but very chewy. Overall it was alright. The service and atmosphere were nice. Cesar salad was supposed to be with anchovies and we love anchovies so we were looking forward to a few pieces and there were only 2. :(just a few things I could think of.

Great during day, don’t go at night. Noisy, drunk loud groups because of the hotel conventions. Horrible experience, kids running around untended, and bad service from the kitchen as well. Come for lunch absolutely, but not ever again at dinner. Aughhhhh, get some rules there.

The dinner buffet dynamite Many offerings for entrees all hot and fresh. $ 27.00 why send $ 14.00 on sandwich of some sort when for $ 15 more everything including options for dessert. Great view great service .Good value

Absolutely disappointing– not what I would expect from La Costa Resort. Service was slow very slow. We waited 20 minutes before a server came to see us. Another 20 to get water. When the water came two of the cups were dirty. One had sand in the bottom and another had been filled with chocolate milk prior. The water was light brown and the cup left a brown ring on the table. The food itself should have been much better. Save your money !! I had the ahi salad which I couldn’t stomach to eat, it tasted old. My daughter ordered a chicken salad sandwich which when it came out was literally chicken and Mayonnaise on bread. Everyone else thought the food was okay — at least they were able to eat it. We were all expecting more — quality of food and service. The server was unhappy and rude. They were not busy so at least the service should have been better. Will never go back.

GOLFSIDE. Came here for a quick lunch. Wasn’t disappointed. Ordered the hanger steak medium rare. It was actually cooked medium rare and the waiter didn’t put up a fight when I wanted a medium rare steak. Cooked to perfection. The fries were ok, just regular fries with some hard cheese on top. Cooler day but the heat lamps made up for the cool breeze.

Now usually when I think of restaurants at a five star golf & spa resort, the words«overpriced small dishes» come to mind. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the ambience of Omni La Costa but I didn’t have very high expectations of its restaurants. Bistro 65 proved me wrong — the food was great and reasonably priced here! We stopped here for lunch after taking a stroll around the resort and were seated outside facing the golf course. Our server Rose Marie was very accommodating with a great sense of humor! We ordered the clams with linguine, ahi tuna salad, and mussels to start. I would have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised with the generous portions and presentation of the dishes. All of our dishes had great flavors and a variety of ingredients. We really enjoyed ourselves as we watched some golfers play a few holes and basked in the warm January sun. Overall, great food and ambience. First class experience at a great resort.

I don’t see how it’s possible to give Bistro 65 anything less than five stars. As others have said, the views are amazing(sit outside!). I had brunch, lunch, and dinner during my stay at the resort it’s located on. For lunch, I had the risotto which I highly recommend. It came with carrots, broccolini, and brussell sprouts. The vegetables were incredibly fresh and cooked perfectly. The risotto was very creamy. For dessert, I shared a chocolate banana bourbon tart. The dessert was gorgeous and delicious. It’s perfect for sharing but so divine you may wish you didn’t have to share! I ended up having dinner there the same day I had lunch. Since I had such a large lunch, I opted for a Cesar salad. The salad was the perfect size and, again, everything was very fresh. Good proportions in terms of lettuce to dressing/cheese/etc… I bypassed the buffet when I went to brunch and ordered the egg white omelet with a side of sourdough toast. I highly recommend this. It had feta and spinach in it, and the spinach was, once again, very fresh. I think it’s reasonable to conclude that their food is made up of fresh and delicious ingredients. If there’s a drawback it would be the price. However, the price was comparable to other restaurants in the area. I was from out of town and just not used to spending so much on food all the time. However, the food is so good that it’s worth it. I did think that charging extra for toast(5.00) when my omelet was 19.00 was a but much. I would think that for basically 20.00 I could get toast with my omelet. Service was excellent. I think I got a better deal ordering off the menu than eating at the buffets they have at breakfast and lunch. I did look at these both times and found them unappealing. To me, they did not match in quality(by looks only) what I was served for my meals.

I should be giving this review a 1, but this place more than made up for their mistake. We decided to have a a casual dinner with our two kids while staying at the resort… Did not want to go to formal dining with the two kids so we decided to eat at the bistro. We waited 20 mins to be seated, which I would understand if they were busy, but they were not. We were seated outside in overlooking the beautiful golf course. Out waiter Ramon was very friendly, he even was assertive enough to notice that out 1 year old daughter was hungry and he gave us a fruit cup to help her hunger. Our drinks came fast, but he did forget our sons drink which was a child’s water. I ordered appetizers which was fried calamari. I also ordered the bistro burger, and wife order the hanger steak. My son ate prior so we were just going to share with him. We got olive and white bread which came hot and was very tasty. The calamari came out fast, host, crispy and very good! Now the problem was waiting for our main course. We did not see our waiter for another 50 mins. I didn’t really notice Because I was putting baby to sleep. The wife was already full from the calamari and my son was already tired from waiting. I went to another waiter and told him that I wanted to cancel my order. He went in the back and our original waiter Ramon came out and apologized and said there was a miscommunication with our order. I explained to him that I was very upset, because we were celebrating 3 occasions. It was my sons birthday, my daughters birthday and my wife and I anniversary. He was very apologetic and told us that our meal would be packed and comp. I felt bad leaving, but we were very upset. We accepted the to go meal, but was still upset it was cold. Our kids were already sleeping by the time we got to our room. We got a call from Brenda(I think that’s her name) the manager. She told us she was very sorry and embarassed of the events that happened. She was very sincere and very apologetic which made it easier to forget. She told us that our breakfast meal would be comp for the next morning. I love as very thankful and grateful. 10 mins later we got room service with a note from the bistro staff apologizing again and wishing us a happy anniversary. With the card they have given us comp. champagne and dessert. I work as a director of staff at the hospital and I understand that people do make mistakes. I highly appreciate the way the staff handled a rotten situation. They made something bad good again and went above and beyond. Thank you bistro staff for making it up. As for the food… 5 stars! Burger was great, steak my wife had was very flavorful(would have been better hot) lol Highly recommend the breakfast buffet! 5 stars on food and customer service and making something wrong so very right!

Bistro 65 is pretty much all about the views and the location as it is perched atop of the golf course amidst the beautiful La Costa grounds. Unfortunately, the food and the service is fairly average. They essentially have a breakfast/brunch buffet which wasn’t really anything special, typical hotel style items. The menu aside from the buffet was fairly substantial and I decided on the hash w hash browns. The taste was rather bland and nothing to write home about. They did have a fairly solid draft beer menu with a lot local selections, which is pretty awesome. Overall, I may try again for dinner, but breakfast is not all that impressive however, the views and location make up for the lack of flavor. Pros– Location Views Beer selection Juice Outdoor pet friendly seating Cons– Average food Pricey Below average service

Came here for lunch and staff was attentive and friendly. Lovely view and food is good! We ordered the calamari. It could have been crispier, but at least the texture wasn’t «limp». the Kale salad was surprisingly good and flavorful and the BLTA was delicious. And the best way I could describe it is that it tasted clean. I didn’t feel like a fat mess eating it. Albeit, i couldn’t’ finish the whole sandwich. But with the first half I ate, I just felt healthy and clean. I got truffle fries with it and they were yum. Valet parking is also free there.

My classy friend Lisa has really taught me a lot about life. She’s Country Club stock, born and bred, meanwhile I’m more of the blue light special type, just excited to get those flip flops on sale for 99 cents. So when it came around for her birthday, Lisa decided to continue my unofficial education in being a classy grown up lady, and decided on a girls’ luncheon at Bistro 65 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. Valet or self parking are complimentary. Being a cheap-o who likes to walk, I opted for self. The resort itself is glamorous, and reminds me of that time last year Lisa and I went out to lunch at the Grand Wailua(?) in Maui. Swanky tropical if you will. A chance to break out the Tommy Bahama and SPF1000. For lunch I had the crab BLT($ 18) which included a fruit salad or fries. Crab meat was fresh and clean. Bacon was a nice thick cut, which a Powegian like me can appreciate. Lisa had the spinach salad with shrimp added. Lisa’s two other pals didn’t order much. Apparently both are on cleanses at the moment, like everyone else living out the New Year’s Dream. I felt a little sorry watching them sip soda water and sucking on limes instead of eating. But not that bad because there were plenty of healthy options on this menu to choose from, including a few items Deepack Chopra commissioned — gluten free/vegan/paleo and all that jazz. Big shout out to our server Oscar, who when I let him know it was Lisa’s bday, brought out a beautiful slice of chocolate truffle mousse cake with a candle. Oscar and the other wait staff were really upbeat and helpful, even with the place pretty busy. Our lunch was a nice glimpse into the lifestyles of the rich and famous, and I’m looking forward to the next locale for Lisa’s Classy Lady Program.
