Overall, the food was great. Ordered a Poke bowl with spicy ½ Ahi ½ Salmon for my first time there. Given a 3-star rating due to my experience with the employees. Overall not a big deal, but felt rushed by the employees to order as a first-timer. As my friends and I payed for our food, I heard the 2 employees who were taking my friend and I’s payments counting the tips we gave. I feel like it should be pretty simple to understand that you shouldn’t be counting tips received in front of customers’ faces.

I want to start our by saying the place has potential if properly managed. I Went there to get food Togo because I had the dog in the car on a hot day. It took 25 minutes for them to bring the food out, then we had to eat there because their system was down. That’s all fine and dandy but to not even take one beer off the bill for their mistake is Joke or not even apologize for their mistake is a joke it Has nothing to do with the money it’s the principal that it was their mistake and nobody atoned for it. It was actually the opposite I got nothing but attitude from the Manager Lady. I will most likely never be back and I’m Native of carlsbad That knows at least 5 thousand people in Carlsbad alone let alone the county so my experience will be known by not just myself.

Hey guys, I hate writing negative things, I truly do but I come here often and this is the second day in a row I’ve been shafted. Yesterday I got a salmon bowl with no rice and asked if they could put some more seaweed salad in it, nothing, almost seemed like less seaweed than normal. Today I ordered a poke bowl with salmon added in it and no rice with some extra seaweed salad. Again, doesn’t even look like an extra portion of fish, looked like you guys made a cut half poke and half salmon bowl when I clearly paid for extra fish. Also, seaweed portion, still normal with the no rice. Just a little frustrated since this has happened two days In a row. I love your spot but the last few days have been very disappointing.

I have tasted almost every dinner on their menu. Literally, each meal has been terrific with no disappointments. Plus, the restaurant is spotlessly clean and the décor is interesting with lots of old black and white fishing pictures. The price of each mean is a bargain too!

The clam chowder and shrimp and scallop melt are my go-to. I love them! The staff is always super friendly and I love the overall atmosphere. I also love that I can walk from my house because parking can be difficult there. The price is decent for how much food you’re getting. I 100 percent recommend it!

My cousin comes here a lot and she’s been trying to get me to come in for quite some time now, I’m so glad I did! My cousin and I share a love for ahi poke, but because of heavy drinking the night before I opted for something heavier-I ended up going with the shrimp po boy and man was I pleased. The sandwich itself was delicious, it is pretty heavy considering the bread may have been lightly buttered too but it wasn’t overbearing at all. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, no question there, I loved it. It was definitely a carb-o-loaded meal so I ended up not eating the bread after the first bite, delicious either way. The po boy is served with french fries, I am definitely a fan of fries and boy oh boy these here are SOOOOGOOOOD!!! I’ll be back for those for sure. I had a bite of my cousins salmon and kale bowl, the salmon was cooked just right and flavored real well too. My mom and aunt both ordered fish and chips, these ladies are hard to please and they really enjoyed their food. So kudos to you guys, these are some critical women here haha. I also noticed a few craft beers on tap too. The restaurant is pretty small, probably fits about 20 people comfortably. Store is clean, bathrooms are clean, my table had something sticky on it though my sweater kept sticking, I’m sure if I had said something they would’ve cleaned it up, no big deal-just saying… Staff is pretty friendly. Will be back for the poke soon!

Fish District has awesome service and pretty good food. When I went in about a week ago, server taking my order was very patient as I stood in line and couldn’t decide what I wanted. I ended up getting a poke bowl with ahi tuna and he told me about the three sauces the restaurant had ranging from non-spicy, mild, to wasabi. I opted for the wasabi. The poke bowl packed a lot of fish and avocado but I wasn’t too impressed with the wasabi sauce. It didn’t really have the kick that I like from wasabi. Aside from that, I enjoyed their sweet potato fries and my friend enjoyed her fish taco.

I have a feeling Poseidon would crush this place under his scaly tail if he had the chance… Not because he thinks fish are friends(he actually told me he loves eating fish) but because it really falls short on expectations. ANDPOSEIDONHATESSHORT, FALLINGTHINGS. Don’t try to add anything extra, you may not get it. Don’t go at lunch, or any crowded time for that matter, your food will be cold. But! Super friendly atmosphere and the staff tries hard… Definitely will be giving them another shot… after I make like my entire Freshman Earth Sciences class, and forget about it. Oh, I’ll also give this place another shot because it’s not cool to judge a food place on your first and only experience… Right? Sigh.

I really like seafood. Fish district is another place that I really enjoy in north county. My favorite thing to get here is the blackened ahi teriyaki bowl! Oh and also ceviche. The teriyaki bowl is amazinngggg. Its a rice bowl with seared ahi on top, avocado, and some pico de gallo with teriyaki sauce on top! They also have some other sauces that you can ask for on the side. The ceviche is good too. It’s served with chips. When I really like a place, I always take my friends or tell them about it! Fish district is one of them.

Had a great lunch today! I had the salmon plate with spring salad and rice, hubby had swordfish, rice & salad too. It was delicious, as usual! Love the atmosphere as well as the staff. Felix was wonderful, made sure we had everything we needed and chatted with us throughout our visit. Fish District is definitely a favorite for us!

Bottom Line: Hook, line and sinker, I am still as much of a fan of Fish District today as when they opened in Carlsbad nearly two years ago. The quality of the food at Fish District has remained high and the seafood is always fresh. Everything on this menu is tasty and by now, I think I’ve tried most of it. Their homemade sauces make a tasty dish amazing and its fun to experiment with the sauce line up. I also like that they have about ten local beers on tap. Another thing I like about the restaurant is the décor although they do not have too many seats. Fish District is located in the busy Bressi Village shopping center. With that being said, I avoid Fish District around weekday lunch times but I welcome the opportunity to cruise over here for dinner. Even better, I love the rare occasions I have to get to happy hour before 5pm for $ 1 off fish tacos and shrimp tacos.

Had to deduct a star. Be aware they have a tendency to close early. I have been going here regularly for over a year. Love the food. The issue is that they stop serving 30 – 45 minutes before they actually close! We walked in the restaurant, a woman in front of us ordered, there were people inside eating and still being served. However, when we got to the register we were told the kitchen was closed. It was still 30 minutes before their posted closing time! We gave them the benefit of the doubt, and tried another time. A similar thing happened. After the third time of «closing early» we have decided to move on. Thankfully the Rubio’s next door honors their hours and they benefited from us as customers. It’s a shame because I love FD, but they’re unreliable!

Fish District is really good! Some time I must go there and eat inside or on the small terrace outside — so this review is purely for the to-go option. Have stopped in 4 – 5 times now, staff always good, service courteous and prompt. They have a couple of TV’s running to occupy you while you wait for your order(watched some of the USA women beat Japan today!). We have had salads but typically fish and chips — not up to England standards — but good!!! And saves the airfare :) Today I tried the blackened ahi bowl and it was excellent! You cannot go wrong at Fish District!

Quick and fresh. Just what I needed for a meal that was neither too heavy buy filling. had the Ahi bowl. I am a huge fan of Ahi and this was spot on delicious. The ginger may have been a bit overpowering in the sauce but it paired well. The outside seating could use a little shade.

SO yum!!! Staff is great! Food is great! Wait time was 10 minutes during lunchtime, that’s great! And if anything they are under priced! Super affordable delicious food. Came here on my lunch and I ordered(2) beer battered fish tacos and a side of sweet potato fries. I ordered the fries because«I knew» the tacos would be small. They’re always so tiny!!! Well fish district proved me wrong there! On the way back to work(about a 2 mile drive) I was so hungry I ate half of my sweet potato fries(they give you a LOT!) and still hadn’t seen the size of my tacos. Well, needles to say, they were much bigger than I figured! I could only eat one! I’m stoked that I finally found a place with proportionate and DELICIOUS fish tacos! Can’t wait to try other menu items!

Had a fish hankering… heard about this place and wow, was I surprised at how good it is. Angela had the salmon and kale dish, which I definitely will get next time. It was a smallish piece of salmon but very tasty and the kale was tender and well cooked. I had the shrimp Louie — a great and large salad with a ton of very fresh shrimp and your old fashioned 1000 island dressing. Really enjoyed it. It’s fast food but fresh, nice crowd, a sort of cool outside counter with stools. Liked it. Will be back…

Although this place is the size of a closet, the food is fantastic. After finding out that Luna grill no longer honors«kids eat free on Sundays» we stumbled upon this place in the same area. What a find. Summary — Price is reasonable for the quality(and price shouldn’t be a problem for the duel middle class income families of this area). No getting around it, good fresh fish simply costs more. — Better than King’s fish house. — Far superior to «Pelly’s». — Look, this place is small. There is outside seating available, if the weather permits of course. — They have nice free water. — No soda fountain, only bottles. — Fries are pretty good. — Kale salad had nice fresh kale leaves. — I enjoy their shrimp.

After being contacted by the owner and encouraged to give this place another try, we went back tonight. We went with his recommendations and also some other Unilocalers recommendations. Here’s a breakdown of our order: 1. Blackened ahi teriyaki rice bowl– my husband really enjoyed this. I had a piece of the ahi and it was good. 2. A small clam chowder– not overly salty, but it did need some black pepper. 3. A small order of fish and chips– 2 large pieces of fish and chips. I’m not a big fan of fried foods, but this was enjoyable. Not too oily, but the highlight of this dish was the dill tartar sauce. that’s really good. 4. Kids grilled cheese– you can’t mess this up. My kiddo ate it. I was incorrect in my previous review– the iced teas are refillable. The bill was 33 and change. Seafood is pricy, I get that part… but for 33 dollars, I would love to have a server, not a ‘order at the counter’ place. I did enjoy the clam chowder and the taste of ahi I sampled from my husband’s dish. I would definitely order the soup again… especially if I was sick! Comfort food! 3 solid stars.
