I had a large order and asked to substitute one item where I offered to pay the difference. They said no we never do that. The thing is they have before. Ther proceeded to argue with me and call me a liar. I will never come back here. Their food is not very good anyway.

Today was my first time here. There is a place closer to home but we were looking for a change. The place is not new, it could use some improvements but I completely oversaw it because it is very clean, including bathrooms. Our waiter was attentive, so good service too. You get a pot of hot tea upon getting seated, good flavor, not too strong and not weak. The food comes out very quickly. I had the rainbow shrimp. It was nice sauce and good portion(early bird special). The egg flower and sweet and sour soups were very tasty as well. Will def come back again.

Your basic take out Chinese food. Very nice staff. A little pricy for takeout Chinese, but there are no others in Carlsbad that I know of.

First time ever here and I’m glad I decided to try it for myself instead of taking some of these bad reviews too seriously. I typically prefer Thai food but felt like trying Chinese for a change. Had chow main and dumplings. Full of flavor and tremendous portions. Dumplings were spectacular. Service was even better. The nice woman who took our order brought us tea, on the house, while we waited This place should be tried out by all before deciding. I’ll be back again and again

It’s getting 2 stars instead of one because the servers were nice. Food is below one star. We ordered crispy beef which is their house specialty and it sucked! It was all batter and no beef. The other dish we ordered was general tso chicken which sucked too. It was way too sour and citruscy(not sure if I spelled it correctly). The style is almost like orange chicken but panda express tastes way better. If your wondering why I didn’t complain because I felt bad for them. The lady who sat behind me already complained about her food being too salty. Maybe I didn’t order the right things but how can their house specialty taste so bad. Definitely will not return. Also, compared to chins this place is more expensive.

This place has vegetarian chicken dishes!!! WHAT!!! My wife’s a vegetarian and it is always a bit tricky for us to agree on meals, even though I usually end up enjoying her dishes more at non Chinese places. We got the vegi chicken Kung pao, if I didn’t know it was vegi I would have never guessed. It was great. I got the snow hill beef it was awesome. We also got pan fried noodles with real chicken, that was very tasty, although a bit salty. I feel the prices are a bit higher than I like, but the servings are huge, plenty of meat, and delicious. Unlike PF changs were the prices are high portions are small and the beef is always grizzly. Our service on our multiple occasions have been great. Tonight our male server was funny, joked around with us and made us feel at home. It’s the only Chinese game in Carlsbad, luckily it’s high quality and portions are plentiful enough for breakfast and lunch the next day.

Food has authentic fresh taste! I’m usually here for the inexpensive lunch special. Service is always courteous and fast. If you are looking for a better Chinese food spot in the village, you won’t!

If you like Chinese, cool… Get it to go. Because the servers are rude and clearly dislike their job. I feel this place is only still around because it’s been around for Soo long.

We like Chinese food. It’s our go to food. With that said this was okay. Probably wouldn’t try again-will stick to our usual Chins in oceanside. The egg flower soup was full of onions. I felt like I was eating spoonfuls of onions. Never seen onions in egg flower soup. Egg foo young was good, but I’ve had better. Orange chicken was alright. Not much flavor. Egg rolls reminded me of Panda Express. Lo Mein noodles had no flavor.

not bad at all. we had this to go but what was very upsetting was when the owner was not happy with the tip i gave when i picked up the food. she was staring at the receipt as i signed it and as i gave 18% for PICKUP food, she walked away immediately. before i signed the receipt she was very friendly and talkative and asked where i was from, how did i hear about them, etc. but as soon as she STARRED at the tip portion of the receipt, you can tell, the tip was all that she cared about. i even talked loudly that the kitchen turned around as i walked out, thank you, see you soon… she didnt even turn around. too bad… food was pretty good.

There aren’t a ton of Chinese food restaurants in Carlsbad but Overseas is a good one. The décor is wonderfully ‘80s(think pink benches and mirrored half walls) but the food is pretty darn good and the staff is very friendly. At the end of the meal our server, Tony, filled the take home boxes for us and packed them up nicely in a bag while we had our«dessert» which is brought to everyone: a jello cup and a fortune cookie. It was pretty charming. We’ll be back.

Chinese cuisine that’s local and has been there for years. I love their authentic Chinese food. My go-to meal there is to start out with an Egg Drop soup and for my main course, I get the Garlic Eggplant. It is prepared in a way that the Eggplant has a crispy outer shell. Very very good.

Located in Carlsbad Village, this establishment is no close to me but I use to eat here once in a while when I lived closer. Decided to check it out again the other night although it had been a while since I’ve been here. Food is good. Service is good. No complaints. Enjoyed a Wor Won Ton Soup, egg rolls, some BBQ spare ribs(took those home for my dog) they were just not to my liking and we had a Pork and Beef dish too. Everything is fresh, comes out quick and the meal was overall delicious.

OLDSKOOLCHINESE True vintage décor. Good location with lots of parking. Family owned and operated. The servers have been there probably for decades. Mom was going to take us to Chins but we quickly found out that it is now a differernt restaurant. We had a taste of Chinese so once again Unilocal came to our rescue. We had never noticed Overseas before but that we know about this little blast from our past we will be returning soon!

This is my whole family’s GOTO place for Chinese food here in Carlsbad Village… Or anywhere for that matter! The quality and flavor of the food is consistent and the service is always accompanied by a smile. We even went went here for our Christmas Eve dinner last year… Our new tradition!

Found Overseas Chinese Restaurant on Unilocal last nite after discovering Chins is no longer in the Carlsbad village. I had seen this place many time as I used to visit the post office frequently. This was a nice new discovery and most enjoyable with my daughter and son in law. We selected 3 different dishes from the A menu and we were pleased with them. Service was very good, the place is clean and it was timely served by a fun waiter with personality… what more can you ask for? Oh yeah… large servings… I will have the left overs tonight. I noticed that locals frequent there for they were recognized by name by the staff and owners(?) I did read the low ratings and can not imagine that we were in the same place they wrote about.

Came here after my friend recommended this place and brought some new friends with us. It was close by to where we were, so we decided to stop by for late dinner. We got seated immediately and after looking over the menu, my friends and I decided to share the Pork Chow Mein, Cashew Chicken, and String Beans. My other friends got Crispy Beef with fried rice. Food came out pretty quickly, but I felted bad for one of my friends that has a super restrictive diet because they wouldn’t really make anything for her unless she got a whole plate or there was some sauce on vegetables that contained sugar and she can’t have that or etc. She asked kindly if she could have some steamed broccoli or something and normally other places would be understanding, but our waitress said she had to order something off the menu. She was disappointed because I didn’t want a huge plate of food nor she couldn’t have any rice product or etc. I understand that this can be frustrating which was evidently clear when she laughed and said, «OMG!» I didn’t really enjoy that. Food was ok, nothing spectacular. I felt that the Cashew Chicken had a thick amount of sauce on it and it was really fried, so I couldn’t really taste the chicken. The Pork Chow Mein was ok, but I would of gone for chicken or beef instead. The string beans were pretty good. Overall the food and the customer service was satisfactory and seeing as I have my favorite Chinese places, I probably won’t come back here unless someone else really wants to go.
