We came in last night for a large«to go» order and it was a terrible experience. The girls working the counter were unprofessional and immature and did not offer toppings nor did they warm the cookies so our trips were sub par and rock hard. The ambiance of this local is terrible. It is too bright and not inviting. Ill stick to sub zero in carlsbad and to the other baked bear locations.

What a cute place! The cookies and ice cream taste very fresh and homemade. Everyone that works there is very friendly and eager to help you decide. We live going to Baked Bear!

Waited 20 minutes for cookies to «cool» but the employee never made my sandwich even while it was paid for. Never coming back to this location. Horrible customer service.

The cookies here are sooooooo good. Their special cookies are really damn good too. I always get a big box of them when I’m here. The ice cream is good too but the cookies. oh man. Recommended!

Cookies on cream, on cookies on cream on cookies and cream. That’s all you need to know! Cookies are thinner than most other places.

I’ve been here a few times, and I’m sure I’ll be back many more. I knew about this place after going to the Pacific Beach location, so when I saw one had opened in North County I had to check it out. Sometimes it gets crowded but I’ve never experienced much of a wait. The staff is quick, and friendly too! My favorite item is the bear bowl, but everything from here is good in my opinion.

So I decided to go to the Baked Bear near my house after dinner because they have some great hand made Ice Cream sandwiches using freshly made brownies, a variety of cookies, and even donuts. You can even mix and match if you like. Generally I always get strawberry flavored ice cream because it’s my favorite, and I don’t really like anything else offered. I asked for a donut style ice cream sandwich, and the girl said she’d have to go to the back to check if they had any. They did and she came back with one. I asked to make sure if they had the donut frosting because they have to put it on after they make it and the last 2 times I went in they had run out. It’s just not the same without it. She said they were out, and so I asked for strawberry ice cream. She said they had gotten rid of strawberry flavored Ice Cream! I kindly said no thank you I don’t need anything then. The other person with me still got something though. One of the other store employees offered that they had strawberry cheesecake as an option, and I mentioned that I’m not fond of cheesecake and it’s not the same. That I probably wouldn’t be back because strawberry was the only flavor I cared about. I asked why they got rid of strawberry, and she said that they had replaced it with something else. I was quite surprised that they removed strawberry from the menu being normally such a popular flavor choice in most dessert places. The weird thing is that stare berry ice cream is featured in all the photos, and art around the store. Examples of ice cream sandwiches everywhere in the store were using strawberry ice cream. Even in a magazine cover featuring their restaurant blow up to life size style proportions of a little girl holding one. It set a deceitful tone to what they offer in the store now that they don’t offer it anymore. I guess I won’t be coming back because they no longer offer strawberry, and my last few past experiences have been lack luster compared to my initial great experience at the store near the beach.

Rude young girls working at «The Baked Bear.» Not only did the person BEHIND my sister and I get her order, she also was out the door before us. We didn’t even get asked if we were finished with our order. We had one more to order. The girls also did not ask us if it was for here/go, so it was put on a plate without even asking if we wanted them warmed up. I asked because I saw the option to warm it up online. She refused to warm it up because it would melt before we get to wherever we were going. Rude. I don’t see this particular shop lasting long if everyone’s first experience was like ours. I consider myself a big tipper… their loss. Great concept… but the owner should consider secret shoppers.

When it is hot outside and you are looking for a good place to get a nice treat The Baked Bear is the perfect place. They combine two of the best treats, cookies and ice cream. They have a lot of different options for cookies and ice cream to choose from along with toppings. It took me a solid few minutes to figure out what combo i wanted to go with. I ended up choosing the funfetti cookie and birthday cake ice cream. My girlfriend got the brownie with mint and chip ice cream. Both were extremely rich and tasty. Both paired extremely well with each other and they were not too messy to eat either. The prices were reasonable and i will totally be back next time the weather is warm and i am in the mood for a tasty treat!

Friendly staff, great opening hours, clean interior, massive portions of homemade ice cream and cookies. This location doesn’t make their own doughnuts — they come from another location. Portions are massive… if you don’t want to be sick, I highly recommend you split an ice cream cookie sandwich with someone. There is also an option to do a sort of cookie«pie» that is a small pie tin with a cookie baked in the bottom like a crust and then ice cream is scooped on top. This is a nice alternative to the sandwich, but still is a lot of food. Flavors are rich and decadent. Certainly a lot of fun, but eat too much and the words«Baked Bear» may conjure up memories of bloating and sadness.

A wonderful dessert place that has a unique knack for the ice cream sandwich. Today I tried their new Bear Batter Ice Cream which was delicious with the cookie of the month was the Baked Bear Cookie? I really liked how they have added the option to warm your sandwich up, which makes it perfect for any polar bear! You can also opt for a doughnut, waffle, brownie, cookie, or any combo of those ice cream sandwich. Can’t wait to come back for more delicious dessert.

Yum! What a fun place! Wish our kid was old enough to enjoy one of their treats, it’s such a fun concept! My husband had the donut with pralines and cream ice cream, and I had to get the funfetti cookies with birthday cake ice cream. I loved it! I was prepared for an overwhelmingly sweet, fake, borderline gross have-to-be-a-kid-to-enjoy-it experience, but was surprised to find that the quality made it quite enjoyable! It was a huge portion and I only finished about half, sad that it’s not one of those things you can really take home and save for later.

They can use some serious organization. The servers… Let’s just say they were confused! As a 1st timer to Baked Bear I didn’t even know where or how to start!!! They asked me what kind of cookies and what kind of ice cream… Never asked me if I wanted a topping, or hot pressed. Anyways!!! After that mix up, and having two girls assist both my husband and I. And using our Unilocal Check In. We were solid! Let’s talk about the ice cream and the cookies! Oh my goodness! Perfection! I loved it! It was a perfect ice cream sandwich and they had GLUTENFREECOOKIES!!! If you follow my other Reviews you know how big I am on that because my hubby is Gluten Free!!! Now I’ll continue, the ice cream was so yummy and creamy. I got the mint chocolate chip and it was perfection!!! So creamy and minty and cold! I got my sandwich hot pressed and rolled in sprinkles!!! The cookies were warm and baked perfectly as well! It was great!!! I’ll be back!

Ice cream and cookies! Cookies and ice cream! Baked bear an ice cream dessert sandwiched between two soft baked cookies. I got the strawberry cheesecake ice cream pared with a snickerdoodle and white chocolate chip cookies. With the Unilocal check in you also get a free cookie on the side so we went with the funfetti cookie! The ice cream itself is pretty good! Nice texture, the strawberry cheesecake had actual chunks of cheesecakes and strawberry preserves scattered throughout. On the other hand, the cookies were just alright. They tasted a little doughy and was chewier than I expected.

Pretty awesome and interesting place with a unique take on desserts! There is plenty of parking, and it was pretty empty when we visited, so there was plenty of seating. Staff was friendly and nice. I got a cookie sandwich with ice cream, and I chose a two white chocolate macadamia nut cookies stuffed with butter pecan ice cream. It tasted quite delicious and satisfying They do have other items I can sandwich my ice cream with such as brownies, rice crispy treats, and even donuts. Maybe I’ll try one of those next time!

I’ve been back here several times since my initial review. Every time I go back, I love this place just a little bit harder! There are only a few things in life I claim to know… and ice cream is one of them. I’ve never eaten the same thing twice, nor have I ever had a bad combination. Here are the important tips: 1. Don’t forget to check in… you get a free cookie or topping 2. Have them warm your sandwich 3. They’ll even cut it in half for you 4. Join their VIP club… points earn you free things! I’ll be back!

So I’m glad I waited a while before actually writing this review for Baked Bear. I had mixed emotions about this place as I’m pretty frugal with what I spend on. I mean, $ 3.50 for an ice cream sandwich is a bit much. I can go down the street to the grocery store to get a box of 12 for less than that. So my first experience was fun. The kids enjoyed it. Fresh made cookies, hand scooped ice cream and sprinkles to boot. Line was long, so I wasn’t sure if it was all hype or if this was a really cool. The first time through, I had a sandwich with M&M cookies and strawberry ice cream. The cookies themselves were sweet. Maybe a bit overly sweet for my taste buds. When I bit into the sandwich, the ice cream slid out the back end and the cookies literally crumbled. A big friggin mess to say the least. I wasn’t real happy having paid a lot for a mess. So needless to say, after that experience, I was hesitant to go back. However, the kids were persistent and due for a treat, so here we are. A new day, so I thought I’d give them another shot. I didn’t realize it, but I ended up ordering the same thing. However, this time, the ice cream was packed in solid and was a bigger scoop. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but when I took my first bite, the sandwich stayed in place and the cookies didn’t crumble. I’m pretty sure the temperature of the ice cream had something to do with it, but in any case, no mess. A couple bites later, I did notice some ice cream melting into my bowl, but not a huge mess. My daughter ordered the Baked bowl. A warm chocolate chip cookie formed into the bowl with a big scoop of ice cream and topped with sprinkles. She thoroughly enjoyed it, as she does with anything involving ice cream and sprinkles. So for the price, it was totally worth seeing my daughters smile as she devoured her after school treat. I wouldn’t make it a habit, but definitely a treat once in a while. Keep on Unilocal’n!

A sweet sandwich oasis. After driving through seemingly miles and miles of suburban dual income housing developments I ran into a large new shopping center. This is where I found The Baked Bear. It’s pretty basic on the inside, and reminded me of a blue Mrs. Fields cookies. Ordering is simple, although the ice cream is down by the cash register and the cookies are up front. My sandwich was an M and M cookie base, mint ice cream, and a Cookies and Cream cookie on top. Delicious. Tip — Have them cut the cookie sandwich in two. Better for sharing and picture taking.

Nice place in a nice mall with a nice staff. Upon walking in you’ll be greeted with batches of fresh baked cookies that may soon hold a scoop of your choosing. The variety of classic ice cream flavors were good in combination with cookies, brownies, or both. We all tried different menu combinations: the cookie sandwich, the cookie-brownie sandwich, and the donut sandwich. The donut is actually pressed with the ice cream inside, so the result is a soft, warm exterior with a still-cold filling. The glaze is pretty sweet and generous, though. My preference would be the chocolate chip cookie and brownie sandwich with any ice cream flavor in between. All portions are definitely shareable and you will probably need to use the cutlery and boat to fully consume! We drove out of our way to get in on their ice cream sandwiches, but it was well worth the cool, creamy delight!

The cookies are five stars alone! Soft, flavorful and perfectly baked!!! The ice cream sandwiches are so fun and absolutely worth the treat! Fun fact, they can cut the sandwich in half so you can easily share! Also, they can heat up the sandwich! Somehow they can heat up the cookie and not melt any of the ice cream. I think it really helps with being able to eat it as a sandwich. Cookies can be rather brittle so heating it up helps keep the cookie soft and easy to bite!
