I find that this salon is very good about taking walk-in appointments. I love Michelle’s manicures and Cat and Dee are both excellent astheticians. Simply put, I’ve never been disappointed by any services I’ve had here(waxing, threading, manis and pedis). All of the ladies are very nice as well(not all Day Spas employ nice women).

I have been to many spas and had many facials. Adara Spa was the worst facial experience I have ever encountered. Prior to going, I explained to the person at the front desk that I have rosacea skin and cannot tolerate sponges and asked if they used 4×4’s for cleansing the various oils, etc. off the face. I was ASSURED that they did not use sponges and that they use the gentle 4×4’s. Well, they were ½ right… they didn’t use sponges but they DIDN’T use 4×4’s — instead they used rough towels to cleanse each application from the face! If that weren’t painful enough on tender rosacea skin, the girl then applied a gritty scrub to my face… at which point I about jumped off the table from pain and said, «You CANNOT put a scrub on a person with rosacea skin» and asked her to promptly stop the rubbing and take it off. So, she«raked» the gritty scrub off my face with another very rough towel. By this time, my face was so sore I didn’t enjoy the rest of the facial and probably should have just walked out at that point. When she gave the shoulder and neck massage, which I usually thoroughly enjoy at other spas, she went over and over the same spots, with the same strokes, until my skin was practically numb. My cheeks were raw and painful for 2 days after the facial, which has never happened to me before after getting a facial. It’s now been a week since the facial and I still cannot tolerate my usual face cream because my cheeks have not healed yet from treatment of my skin at this spa. Never again … people with sensitive and/or rosacea skin, please beware of this spa.

My Adara experience began with the total convenience of booking my appointment online. This is HUGE as I rarely have time during my work day to spend 15 minutes on the phone haggling over appointment times with whoever answers the phone at the spa. The online booking allowed me to select my service(Deluxe Mani/Pedi) then gave me appointment times to choose from including late afternoon and early evening, perfect for someone who works long hours. I parked in the garage(free) just below the spa. Both elevators and a stairwell are available for patrons. Rounding the corner, it’s half a block down on the right on 1st Ave NW. The reception area is small but welcoming. I called ahead that I was running a few minutes late, and as soon as I came in they began to run my foot bath. I immediately felt welcome. I was a little confused when asked to pick out a nail polish. The polish is displayed on the side of the wall that you can’t see from the reception area. It isn’t often I get a pedicure, or a manicure either for that matter, and tend to feel a little uncomfortable when I do. But Dee, my technician, really put me at ease from the beginning. I enjoyed the great conversation as much as I enjoyed the treatment. My nails turned out beautifully and even more importantly, I felt my stress soothed away during the process. I will definitely recommend Adara and look forward to trying other services they offer as often as my budget will allow.

Needs music in lobby… not the unpleasant ringing of your text messages going off behind the front desk… it kind of breaks the mood. Everyone was extremely nice. My wife had a deep tissue. She was well taken care of but I don’t know if I can classify this as a day spa. All the high service of pampering and anticipating your guests needs that is typical of a day spa was not present here. Anticipation of your guests needs here seems to be an afterthought. Day spa prices with out the day spa ambiance. Everyone took care of my wife but it was one of the spa’s that is not memorable. We will use this in the future to fill a need but will look around to see if we can find someplace that anticipates the little things that create an atmosphere of pampering and relaxation.
