I’ve been to Upland on several occasions and have enjoyed it each time. On nice days, the patio area is a great place for lunch. Food portions are generous, and generally quite tasty; yesterday, a friend tried the pizza and really enjoyed it. There are several vegetarians/vegans in our office, and they like Upland because there are so many options for them. I’ve not been into this location to drink as we’ve typically gone with colleagues/for business meetings, but Upland Wheat is my go-to during football season. You can’t go wrong with it on tap. The service can be inconsistent and at times a bit unfriendly depending on who you get, but it’s always been adequate. Upland is definitely a nice addition to the mix of restaurants in Carmel. It would be great to have a few more places in the area with an atmosphere as laid back as Upland’s.

Brooke! Brooke! Brooke! All of the food is so freakin’ delicious. So many great vegetarian /vegan options. Tofu tacos? Tofu salad? Seitan philly? Seitan tenderloin? Veggie pot pie? Veggie flatbreads? Need I go on? The beer is also so great. We have so many growlers from here. The Bad Elmer’s Porter is always a must. Easy Chair Amber is also really good. The outdoor patio is also my favorite patio in Carmel Staff is always awesome. Food is always perfect. Brooke is our absolute favorite!

Stopped in to try the food and was pleased. Good to see they serve bison meat. I had the bison burger and my wife had bison chili. Both were excellent. We will be going back… and maybe next time I’ll try a beer.

EVERY time I come here to refill a growler, I feel like I’m stepping into Cheers or some other friendly place where everyone knows your name.(Except they don’t know my name here. But, like, they treat me as though I’m a friend.) My sole experience of Upland consists of refilling growlers, but one day I hope to visit and sit in their dining room or on their patio and eat their food. I highly recommend their Champagne beer — it is pretty awesome and pretty much the only kind I get. When I find something I love, I stick with it! One great thing about this place is that they give you a free 12 ounce glass of beer with every growler refill. It’s nice to just sit, chill and take your time sipping free beer while a person readies a giant jug of beer for you to take home. It warms the cockles of my heart just thinking about it.

Went because we were picking up our beer walk/run pack. Decided to eat dinner. Glad we did. The spinach artichoke dip is really fantastic. Loved the fries. Tenderloin was tasty too. Husband had the fish and chips. All very good. Service was great. Was a pleasant atmosphere for an impromptu dinner date.

I stopped in here with a friend on our way up north for the weekend. It was a Friday afternoon and the place only had a handful of people in it. This whole area is under construction at the moment, so the turn off had no sign. It is on the backside of a roadside shopping center and its not very well marked. The atmosphere is rustic and very well done. The bar stools are huge wooden chairs and very comfy. Once you DO find it though, you should be pretty happy! They had several beers on tap. I went for the porter, which was delicious. My friend had the red which was also easy drinking. I ordered the pub nachos with chicken. This is a HUGE order or nachos. HUGE. In fact, it really needed to be on a larger plate because toppings kept falling off while I was trying to eat it. The chicken on it was delicious — diced, grilled and seasoned really well. There were plenty of black beans, cheese, tomatoes, and onion on it too. I ordered my sour cream and guac on the side. Both were good and there was plenty of it. No way could I finish this meal but I made a pretty good dent in it. I will definitely be back when I am on my way north and need a stop mid-way for food! The service was pretty good. We sat at the bar so there wasn’t much chance of us getting missed. Our bartender gave us a couple of samples while we were trying to decide what we wanted. She also explained to us some of their processes for filling growlers and what not.

I’m amazed it took me so long to come to this restaurant as I am a big fan of Upland beers. We visited on a Saturday night so it was pretty crowded but we were able to get two seats at the bar right away. The service was super quick and friendly. I was very pleased with the amount of vegetarian options that Upland offered. I had a difficult time choosing between their options(which rarely happens at non-vegetarian places). They had a good mix of their«classic» beers along with their more«experimental» beers.

Upland nachos are very good and plenty for everyone. Ordered pork and chicken. Just the right temperature. $ 2 pints on Sunday! Would be a great bar to watch a sporting event but the TV’s are so small it is difficult to see a game

With tasty vegetarian options, friendly service, and daily beer specials, Upland’s Carmel location is a favorite in my household. Their seasonally-rotated grilled pizzas are always unique, and the pulled pork nachos resemble a mountain of deliciousness that could easily be shared by two(or more as an appetizer). Though Upland offers a classic breaded pork tenderloin, their seitan version is a vegetarian rival to the throne. For lunch or smaller portions, their spicy buffalo chili is perfect for cold winter days. Drafts rotate but always include some of Upland’s flagship favorites like Dragonfly and Wheat, along with rotating selections from their Side Trail series. Though you can’t purchase growlers of beer on Sundays due to Indiana law, you can enjoy $ 2 pints on those days. In warmer months, additional patio seating includes a welcome for well-behaved canines. For fans of Upland’s award-winning sours, bottles are often available for non-Sunday carry-out purchase at this Carmel location. Also, they have a taxidermied cross-eyed coyote above the bar. Win!

My fiancé first introduced to Upland’s down at Btown and ever since, I’ve been hooked. I admit I have a serious addiction here. I’ve shared a pitcher of wheat ale with fresh oranges. 3 glasses later, I swear I was buzzing on cloud 9. Please don’t send me to AA… Reliving the moments, we had a lunch date at the Carmel location. We were seated near the window overlooking the«wonderful» 116th street view by a super chill hipster beer connoisseur named Chandler. How can I forget since his name since it reminds me of the show«Friends». Two specialty/seasonal beers served in tulip glasses: Teddy Bear Kisses(Russian Imperial Stout) — chocolaty, slight bitterness — 10% ABV: warm fuzzies inside. reminds me of vulgar«Ted», not a suitable for children Barrelchested Barleywine — rich bourbon oak’ed, vanilla hint, toffee sweetness — 9.5% ABV: reminiscent of a tough burly man, soft and squishy inside Bowl of hearty buffalo chili and turkey rice soup for a cold day. Beer-battered fries fried to crisp perfection. Delicious when dunked into the chili. I’m pretty sure I could have a pitcher of anything, but I don’t want to be a face-flushed drunkard stumbling out like a fool midday. Till next time, Upland. Keep those brews flowing!

First, IU sucks. Ok I am now over the fact that they are from Bloomington. What a great place for a beer and some lunch. Great to have brew pub beers and a quality kitchen linked together. We had 2 amazing items, 3 little pigs and ravioli. We coupled that with some nice winter dark beers, a Scottish ale and a stout, yummy! One item to beware, no Sunday growlers, no beer made in site.

When you are in Indianapolis, you have to visit Upland Brewery. Since I wanted some food too I stopped at the Tap House. It was pretty dead in there but I was there during a weird time. The service was AMAZING! The bartender was so good at what he does… I would expect to see him at a high end restaurant. I loved the décor and everyone there was awesome. Now, if you read my reviews you know I have a small pet peeve if you will about staff standing around chatting with each other. This is usually because they don’t then pay attention to their customers. Although the staff did do this, they never once let it deviate from their customers and actually as a collective group was very friendly and informative about the beers and menu items. It really made it feel like I was part of the team and I loved that. When I visit a brewery I tend to surprised when they don’t offer flights. And they do not here. I wanted to try so many beers but had to settle on trying one.(I was offered samples but didn’t want to ask for a sample of everything). I can understand logistically how flights can be problematic but it really is the best way for people to try more of your beers. I will come back here when I am back in the area!

Upland funk gon’ give it to you. This place rocked my mind in a good way. I was pleasantly surprised by almost everything here. The layout is awesome. The bar is angled so that when walk in the door, the bar area is the first thing you see. They used really pretty wood and the décor makes the place very unique, relaxed, and inviting. They have a cute side patio with tables under starry string lights too. I came here for lunch with the fam and fell in love with the salmon tacos and the mandarin ginger salad dressing(can I get a cup of it to-go?). Mmmm. I ate some of my sister’s fries too(of course) and they were might tasty– not to mention Upland beer-battered. We didn’t have beer while we were here, but I think it’s cool that a brewery like Upland is able to attract so many people there to simply eat. There were young couples at the bar as well as families at the tables, making it a great diverse group! Our sever was honestly probably the best server I’ve ever had, which makes all the difference for a restaurant. One of the bar tenders was super jolly as well and him and our server started dancing around the place when Christmas music came on which made for a fun atmosphere. Mostly I think I just want to be friends with them. Congrats on the impressive visit Upland!

I was looking forward to giving this place a good review, but unfortunately some rude staff and tasteless food ruined the experience for me. My friends and I had our dogs with us, but had called ahead to make sure they where allowed out on the patio. Upon arriving, we ran in to two workers standing outside on their break. They advised us that we could go around to the side with the dogs and enter the patio area from the outside instead of having to take the dogs in through the restaurant area. They told us that they would let the hostess know that we were out on the patio. The workers went back inside and our party went around and seated ourselves on the patio. Besides our group, there was only one other table being occupied and the inside looked empty as well. We had been seated for a few minutes when one of the workers came out and immediately said, «You need to check in with the hostess before you sit down.» This was the first thing he said, no greeting, just sniping at us to check in. We told him that we had talked to two workers outside who told us to be seated and they would advise the hostess. When that worker left, we were then approached by another worker that immediately started the conversation with, «You need to check in with the hostess before sitting down.» Again, we had to reiterate our earlier conversation. At this point, my group and I were pretty annoyed. All of us have worked or are working in a customer service type job, and this is NOT how you approach your customers. We were finally approached by a wonderful server named, Alex, who was the only reason we didn’t get up and walk out. Instead of walking up to us and making a snide remark about needing to check in with the hostess, she instead asked us how we were doing and what we would like to drink! Finally, some decent customer service! My group and I decided on some beers, I chose the Champagne Velvet, which was a crisp, refreshing, pale lager that was perfect for a warm afternoon. My friends ordered the Oktoberfest and gave it a great review. For food, I ordered the Smoked Turkey sandwich that unfortunately was bland, but the fries were good. My friend had ordered the Smoking Goose Bratwurst that looked good and received decent feedback from him. Another friend ordered the tenderloin, but said that wasn’t anything spectacular. Our waitress did a great job of checking in on us and recommending various beers based on our taste preferences, but unfortunately, the greeting that we received upon arrival left a bad taste in all of our mouths and I don’t believe any of us will be returning to this location again.

My husband and I really like going here, mostly for the atmosphere and the beer. They have a really nice patio where they host band on Wednesday nights during the warm weather months. The beers are always super fresh and tasty. They have decent specials(I think they have a rotating beer on special for pitchers each weeknight) and $ 2 pints of most of their beers on Sundays. They don’t brew onsite, so you can’t take growlers out on Sunday, but they otherwise fill growlers and have a small fridge with their bottled/canned selections for takeout. Overall, we’ve also found the staff to be generally knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. We’ve mostly stuck to the burgers and nachos for food. Both have been good. With that said, not the best burgers I’ve ever had either. Still, fresh and made to order. I’ve also had the pulled pork sandwich and the gnocchi. Both were good. Overall, I crave their wheat beer more than I crave any of their food items. If you’re into good beer and like a relaxing atmosphere, this is a good place for you. If you’re interested in watching the game or having a super fancy meal, your best bet might be to move on.

Sunday $ 2 pints! I really like this place for a Sunday mellow. It’s kid friendly. I like the minimal number of TVs and they have a friendly, attentive staff. The nachos and fish and chips are solid! They also have decent vegetarian options. Outdoor seating is ample. Any out of town guests I’ve taken have had purely positive comments.

This place made me sad because I think their beer choices are excellent but boy were they having a bad night when I took the time to try their food. Their tenderloin was completely flavorless. The salmon tacos were a sad piece of overcooked dry salmon on top of a tortilla with virtually nothing to bring it flavor or moisture. The burger that was ordered medium well was delivered closer to a hockey puck. Our server never took our dishes away until she put down the bill despite us stacking them and putting them at the edge of our table. When I did pay the $ 32 bill in cash with a $ 50 sticking out she asked if I needed change. Major pet peeve. My tip is stick to the beer at the bar.

Have visited for dinner twice since moving to Indy. We’ve left very happy each time. Upland’s Carmel location is nice; the outdoor area is great, it’s just a few blocks off the Monon so we can ride our bikes there and the inside of the taproom has a clean industrial feel to it. I’ve had the blue flame buffalo burger on each visit with potato salad as a side. My wife and I both agree the potato salad is killer at Upland. My burger was a little overcooked on our second visit but was still very juicy and enjoyable. The first time we went it was cooked perfectly and was amazing. The service has been great during each visit. In the instance when my burger was overcooked, I didn’t complain as it was still very good, but our server noticed it himself and even though I said it was still great, I was offered a free beer as compensation. Generally the service was great and him going out on his own to remedy a situation which I said was okay scored a lot of points in my book. The Upland beers are a bit hit or miss. The sours are amazing, the wheat is very good for the style, and some of the seasonals have been great(bourbon barrel aged barley wine which I can’t recall the name of, for instance). Some of the more regular offerings have been«meh» in my opinion, but on each visit there’s been an option I have been happy with. We’ll definitely be visiting here regularly.
