I would never recommend it! the office manager keep stray cats in the empty apts. she feeds them and gives the key out to others to maintain. Would you want to move into that place after that took place in your future home!!? I lived there one year and someone broke in and stole item from my apt. drug dealers?, maintenance? neighbor? either way, not a place you’d want to be. toilets not working, fire place not working, and the heater needing fixed every other week ‚ — id rather live elsewhere and pay more. If I help at least one person look elsewhere for a home this — Post was worth it. Good luck elsewhere.

If you have a dog or many dogs, this is the place to live. EVERYONE has one… barking constantly. A younger man lives above us and lets his dog just reck the place up there. We saw a chewed-up couch thrown out even! Dogs, dogs, dogs, everywhere! Our neighbor beside us has a huge Great Dame that barks as soon as we approch our door, it scares us… if you complain, they will move you but you have to pay, an not so sure the new apartment is going to be better. They don’t tell you this in the beginning… glad we only took a 6 month lease! One more month and we are outa here!

I lived here from 2009-10. The grounds were kept clean and everything looked nice when I moved in. The show apartments are significantly nicer than the actual rentals but that’s usually the case with anything. The largest reason i moved out was the price. They charged far to much for the amount of space that was given. I moved away to a much larger apartment that cost much less. As far as apartments go, if you can stomach $ 800‑1100 for a small to medium apartment that this would be a good option. They fix whatever breaks, and keep the place clean. One last thing I didn’t like, once a year they would«seal» the parking lot. Placing some toxic smelling chemical on the pavement. It really stinks for a few days. Seems unnecessary to do yearly.

I lived in Chestnut Ridge for two years and it probably would have been longer except for quite a bit of my income was going to rent. A smaller 2BD(1 bath instead of 2) ran in the 900’s which when you add Utilities(water, trash, gas, electric) and entertaintment(basic FIOS) you get closer to 1500 than you’d think. A new management company took over in August of 2009 or thereabouts and in the two years we were there they did a great job with the property. The staff was nice, and they were on-point when it came to repairs or addressing concerns. Perhaps the only negative would be that the undertone of the entire operations is pay and pay on time … but its a business so it is understandable(to a certain degree). The apartment themselves are old building wise, this particular complex I believe from annecdotes has been around for 15ish years. In the last 5 they’ve spent millions renovating. So what does this mean? *Poor insulation. *Older appliances if ypu haven’t been upgraded. *Dryer exhaust vents that are too small. *And random nit pickings about windows or drain smells. They keep the property clean and nicely landscaped. Lighting is an issue in some areas, and towars they end I noticed a large amount of patrol cars randomly … which could simply be from the large female contingent asking for safer lots. But for the most part I felt safe and happy in Chestnut Ridge. If I had the money or if rent had been 1000 with utilities I probably would have stayed until it was time to buy a house… sadly for me… that wasn’t the case and move #20-something had to take place.

I would never reccomend this complex. We lived here for just over one year. I had two occassions in which random male strangers approached me in the parking areas, one time they made comments out the window of their vehicle, another time a person tried to find out which apartment I lived in. I feel more safe in the city at night than I did at Chestnut Ridge. They tried to charge bogus fees when we moved and threatened to send our bill to collections if we did not pay them, so we had no choice but to pay. Very dishonest management. They had service work done both inside and outside the apartments with little to no warning so we were forced to make changes to our schedule so we could be present. The walls are thin, the list goes on… Stay away.
