My father is among one of the most difficult people to shop for. He’s also diabetic, and likes sugar free pixies from Fannie May. My mom indicated that she couldn’t find sugar free pixies at another Fannie May, so I decided to check out the one near work. In fact, my employer has a 15% discount, but I also had a $ 5 off a pound of chocolate coupon, and there is also a $ 10 off $ 30 Unilocal check in offer. No matter what, a discount isn’t hard to score here… Holiday season lunch time = a bit of a crowd in a chocolate store. This place of course smells delicious upon entering… I found the sugar free section behind the counter, and also some were already boxed up. There are no «grab a number» tickets and people were just scattered about… no organization and no line, so the woman next to me pretty much organized us ;) I was able to score $ 5 off the $ 24.99 box of chocolates. When you sign up on their email list, you get a FREE candy bar! Best email list offer ever!!! Sometimes they will give you a sample, which is a full size piece of chocolate when visiting these stores… I love me some Fannie May!!!

Sometimes chocolate is the only remedy. Our stepdad passed away this summer and on our way back to our mom’s home, we were going to pass this Fannie May location. We stopped. It was inevitable. Upon entering, we were hit smack dab right in the nose with that amazing chocolate smell that you can only get at a Fannie May Candies location. It was heavenly! We waited. And we waited. And we waited some more. There was one sales associate and to be honest, the service was slower than molasses, but served up with a smile. Who am I to complain when the Fannie May lady is about to load those chocolates up for me to take home? Grandma and I love dark chocolate! My sister and mom prefer milk chocolate. So we wanted to do a box of milk that my sissy picked out and a box of dark that I picked out. Her selections were nice and easy. Mine a little harder because they were out of a lot of the dark chocolate combinations. Ultimately, I «managed» to choose enough chocolate to fill the box. And somehow I even helped«choke» it down. Thanks Fannie May for being right there on a day when we needed a little extra comfort in our bellies.
