I like their burgers and their gyros; always have had good food when we’ve been there

I had a craving for a gyro for lunch yesterday. I have tried all of the local places and the best of the rest recently closed so I was on the lookout for a new gyro place. I used to buy fresh deli sandwichs from this location years ago when it was a deli. I thought it closed 1 to 2 years ago, but when I mentioned this to the cashier she said they have been closed for almost 5 years, oh. Regardless I ordered the gyros daily value. It came with fries and a drink. The fries are the larger steakcut fries, they were cooked perfectly, crispy but not greasy. On to the gryo’s. Perfect size, not to big that I needed a nap after eating. Great flavor, fresh tomato and onion. If I was working out of the house again today I would order another. Really enjoyed finding a gryo place again.

After having visiting Pop’s Place prior to review the Chicago style hot dog. A co-worker of mine suggested giving them a second try. Rather than try the hot dog again I decided to go for the Dagwood burger combo. When going into Pops Place the employees or possible owners were very friendly. I picked up my order and everything was ready in no time at all and I was on my way back to the office. The first thing to note are the fries, while a little on the greasy side these are a steak fry style fry. They weren’t too salty or overly crispy but had a nice potato paste filling and were pretty tasty. The dagwood burger itself is a wide burger on a soft bun. It has charmarks but didn’t have the flavor typically associated with a charburger. The onions on it were good and there was neither too much nor too little condiments applied. It was a decent tasting burger and certainly a large burger though perhaps a little less flavorful than one would suspect. Overall this was a better experience than my initial visit to Pop’s Place. While I am unlikely to ever try the hot dog again, I may do further experimentation with their menu in the future. The staff is nice and friendly, the fries are solid and they have a lot of lunch options.

Worth stopping by for a beef sandwich(good fries too for a beef stand). Little stingy on the napkins and ketchup when they feel it necessary to keep it behind the counter but oh well, they have to live with the stinginess. I’ll go again and say what it is… OK, take it or leave it! Friendly family running the place though and you want to see good people succeed.

I love this place! the food is great and clearly made with love. The owners love what they do and will go out of their way to make you happy. My kids love going there and it has become a regular family place for us. You know, there are many places you can go eat … but I prefer to go to one like Pops where my name and my order is remembered, the food is consistently good and I am always greeted with a smile. Plus, they have the greatest tzatziki around!

This place is a disaster NOTHING is fresh all frozen everything hamburgers fries nothing worth eating other places at lease have fresh unfrozen of some kind of food not Pop’s Place so go ahead and enjoy. But keep in mind there are better places around the area than this place. I have to give it only one star and thats because there isn’t a half star,

I knew the first 2 reviews were BS when I pulled into the parking lot of this rundown stripmall. How could 2 people give this place 5 stars? I hate when people lie to get business. Bottom line, do not go here looking for good food. I had the Philly because another person on here gave it a good review. It was nowhere near good. They got me for $ 10 for a large fry, large drink and a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich that should be served in prison. I know Philly’s usually run on the high end of the dollar, but this sandwich should be sold for about $ 3 at the most. It was edible, but just not worth eating. Not much flavor at all and seemed a little watered down. See what happens when people post bogus reviews? You get the hammer brought down on you!!! BOOYAH!!! This is an update to my review. Since I wrote this review, the person who said the Philly was real good has removed their review. I’m guessing because they realized they were wrong or because I caught them in a lie. I know my review is kind of harsh, but I went to this place because I was mislead by someone else who posted a bogus review. I am tired of getting mislead by people on Unilocal. Let me also clear something up. I gave this place 2 stars because the Philly Cheesesteak was not up to par by my standards, not because it is in a rundown stripmall or because I was misled. I thought I made that pretty clear in the first paragraph when I described how bad the sandwich was. When I eat somewhere and determine the food is average by my standards, I will give that place 3 stars most of the time. I did not feel this sandwich was average, which is why I only gave 2 stars. I am explaining all this in layman’s terms because a person on Unilocal questioned my review and thinks I am only giving this place 2 stars due to the rundown stripmall and being misled. To be fair, I have only tried the Philly Cheesesteak and fries. I believe the fries were pretty good if I remember correctly. This rating and review are solely based on the Philly Cheesesteak. Any questions?

Holy moly. I’ve missed out on a year of great fast food. This place is a two minute drive, and maybe a four minute bike ride, from home. Going the long way. So the wife and I finally made it here for the first time after their opening last July. The wife said her hot dog was good. I ordered a gyro, and when the owner’s name is Nick Koutsonicolis, it’s fair to expect a good gyro. I got a great gyro. The tzatziki sauce is good enough to drink! Assertive cucumber flavor. Smooth. Perfectly complemented the thin shavings of lamb and a perfectly seasoned, warm pita. The fries were excellent and not soggy. Finally, the rice pudding. The custard was nice and eggy. A liberal amount of cinnamon was sprinkled on top. If Pop advertises it as famous, that designation is well deserved, because not a bite of it was wasted. I’ll try the Grecian Chicken next time. I know this much… there will be a next time, and there might be many next times!

I used to eat at Pop’s Place when they were located in St. Charles, but they relocated to Carol Stream in 2010. It’s owned and operated by a charming Greek couple by the names of Nick and Toula(yes…just like in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding). My favorites are the Grecian Style Chicken and the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. Also, their fries are PERFECT — skinny, hot, and crispy. Nick makes sure no soggy fries go over the counter to the customers. Next time you are driving just north of Route 64 on Gary Avenue in Carol Stream, give them a try. They are open Monday — Saturday from 9:00AM — 9:00PM.
