Panadería Pahuatlan offers mouthwatering authentic Mexican bakery items at great low prices. They have an extensive selection of not only baked goods, but also imported Mexican sodas and regular household products. I love their milhojas and tacos de piña – both are so flaky and delicious that they practically melt in your mouth.

This is a Mexican bakery tucked in Carrboro Plaza just beside the video store. Nearly the entire left wall has a case with a variety of baked sweets, including bread, doughnuts, churros, cakes, and cookies. A few items have custard inside, while others have fruit(I spotted strawberry and pineapple). Prices are very reasonable — I paid $ 1.60 for a churro and cinnamon bread. They both tasted good; the churros had a caramel filling in the middle which was nice. All I was missing was hot chocolate to dip them in. They do sell other products, from tortillas and fruit juice to laundry detergent. I believe you can order tres leches cakes too, according to the sign on the window. Atmosphere is the only downside — I’m not sure there’s a/c, and there were a few mosquitoes flying around near the floor(not in the food case). The lady at the register was friendly and helpful in describing all the desserts.
