America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

This is my second time going to an Americas best and the first time I had a great, friendly, and fast service in Lubbock. Moving back home I was happy to see that this place has also opened up close to my house so I decided to get my eyes checked again because I needed new contacts. I made an appointment online which was super easy and then when I showed up 15 min before appointment I was rudely greeted my the girl at the counter. She just seemed like she didnt enjoy working there. Anyways waited 20 – 25 minutes for one lady to check my eyes for glaucoma and such she was super sweet and the main reason for the stars on here. The actually optometrist wasn’t someone I felt comfortable with. But oh well. I just needed to go in and out to get some contacts. As she seated me to wait for someone to let me try on some contacts and pay out I had time to check prices for my contacts online and even purchase them since no one has helped me what so ever. After 20 minutes someone asked if I had my eyes checked and I said yes and she even walked away after. I’m sure plenty of people have thought to walk out at this point because I’ve been wasting my time sittin here.

I have issues every single time I come in to this location. From their systems being down multiples times, to rescheduling my appointments at the last min when I live 30 mins away, to giving me attitude when I come in to test out new contacts and say that they’re not comfortable. I’ve gotten attitude from 2 out of 3 of the receptionists I’ve come in contact w at this location. I’ve had the same old pair of contacts that I was supposed to «test out» for well over a month now, closer to two months.
Americas Best has great deals, but GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION.

This is a draft review for Dec 22^nd, waited till now so I can review my OVERALL experience.
I had scheduled an appointment online for a Sat, but chose to schedule it on a weekday. I like the fact they do have appointment scheduling online. I had called in on a weekday to schedule an appointment and they got me in the same day, it was great. Their appointment hours are pretty good too.
They’re located near a Chilis so you can eat while you wait for your appointment (which was what I did). The outside appearance isn’t very flattering but the inside is big. I was surprised with how spacious and clean it was. I filled out a little form, and they had a waiting room in the back, which was also very spacious. Whoever did the layout did it pretty well.
Tammy, the first lady that checked my eyes for diseases and the one that blows air in your eye (don’t know what that’s called) was great! She got straight to work, no shortcuts and knew what she was doing. She was a natural. Wasn’t pushy, knowledgeable and made me comfortable. Quick, simple and painless.
Dr. Nguyen was the one that exam my eyes and did my prescriptions. She was very nice and quick also. Wasn’t pushy, made me comfortable and was a able to prescribe me prescriptions for contacts AND lenses. I always wanted contacts but last year the Optometrist was making me see a specialist before he proceeded which delayed me from getting contacts. Dr. Nguyen was able to get me them with no problem (I guess other Dr just wanted more money out of me). I did my research and the brand she recommend for me was highly recommend for someone with astigmatism. She recommend the Biofinity Toric lenses. It’s great to know that a Dr. is not just selling or choosing any product just to sell it, but to assure that you are getting quality and best comfortable fit for the health of your eyes.
I then went to the Contact Lens Area because I am a new contact lens wearer and the guy. he was okay. He was nice but seemed just a little impatient? Putting contacts in are harder than I thought, especially for someone new. But I felt as if I was taking up his time since it was taking me awhile to do it. I mean, something foreign is going in my eye, of course my eyes going to reject it. But I managed and eventually it got in.
Then, I was transitioned to a lady to help me choose glasses. As I was trying to put my left contact lens in, she seemed a bit impatient also and said «Look, just tilt your head back, open your top lid all the way with the lashes and just put it in,» (that’s not verbatim, but it was along those lines). I felt even more like, «Okay… I’ll just go ahead and shove it in my eye just to get this over with» (sarcasm). She was nice though.
Overall I do like this place, the prices are competitive.

Arrived 10 minutes late for a 3:50 with someone that I took in as a recommendation. Was flat out told He had to reschedule because it would go into the next appointment. The next appointment which was at 4 was another recommendation I took in (my mom) Why make appointments 10 minutes apart if you’re going to have no flexibility. One can’t calculate traffic time and looking for a parking spot. Never heard of someone being turned down for being 10 minutes late, most places give a 15 minute grace period. Was deeply embarrassed with the person I took in. Worse thing is that the young girl working as a receptions it didn’t seem to care one bit. Glad I took him to another place and they lost a customer. Most upsetting thing is that when we got there, there was NO OTHER CUSTOMER in the office. They should focus on customer service and first impressions instead of booking appointments 10 minutes apart just to get as many customers as they can.

Went there 8 mins late and i was asked to re-​schedule. I don’t have a problem with that since I was late so they have all the rights to turn me down but the information I was provided was totally incorrect & confusing.
1) In the morning when I called, I was told that it will take 30 minutes most for an eye exam and when I reached there it will take at least 90 minutes! How can someone plan time off from work if you tell two different things?
2) I was told that the lenses would most likely be available based on the numerical range I provided them with but when I reached I was told it will take two weeks.
All in all, you have lost one potential customer even before you got one. So now that I didn’t get the service I might as well take my business somewhere else.

Went online found an app on their website to use my web cam and take a pic and see how the glasses looked on my face. Picked out 2 for $ 69 (including exam) and did an extra exam for peripheral and looks for diseases for another $ 15! I got there 10 mins early as was required to fill out a short form and was out of there in just under an hour. Total bill $ 85 HOWEVER there are many upgrade options if you want transitional lenses, scratch resistant, etc etc etc… I am going to get a feel for my «basic» glasses first and then go back and get some more with all the VERY COOL features like transitional that turn to sunglasses almost outside and regular glasses inside! They have a HUGE selection so I can’t wait to go back and get some driving glasses etc! Everyone was VERY friendly, not pushy salespeople which was a relief. My glasses will be ready in 7 — 10 days!
