Do not go through the drive thru. That lady manages to screw my order up every single time. I order RICEANDGETFRIES wtf. Why would I order MASHPOTATOES and fries??? Every single time never fails. I usually go in cause I’ve had this happen 3 other times. I was in a hurry but never again.

Grandys is good semi home-cooked food. I always get the country fried steak meal with mashed potatoes and white gravy and green beans. My husband got the chicken meal and my daughter got a kids meal. I wish they did have a juice option for kids but they don’t. Also every time I come to this location they are extremely slow!

OMG… all I can say is gross !! I like to go here 1x a year when I go home bec my Grandma and me used to go when she was alive. So my Mother and I went thru the drive thru and spent $ 15 on a horrible meal ! HORRIBLE !! The chicken was a burnt and disgusting, my Mom said that they had used old old old grease, the potatoes were a complete joke and the okra was salty. I decided to call them as soon as we started eating and the phone just rang rang and rang. I had to call back 15 times to get someone to answer and when they finally did. they answered Hello. WHAT?! Not Grandy’s how can I help you. I mean what a joke. I asked to speak with a Manager and the girl with attitude screams … This lady wants to talk with a Manager. she had to scream it again bec she didn’t have anyones attention apparently. Then a lady gets on and I say is the a Manager and she phone down without answering me and gets the girl that rang us up in the drive thru. Clearly a skeleton crew of misfits and unprofessional people at that time, which was 8– 8:30 pm. The girl tells me to bring the receipt back in the am for a refund. I agree and we hang up. I come to the drive thru the next day and the same girl is there, clearly she doesn’t have time off in that sweat shop. She says our district manager left and the other manager is busy. Can I come back? LOL. I said no and that I wanted him to come talk with me. she left for 5 minutes and returns alone, clearly he wasn’t wanting to stop whatever he was doing. Which I am sure. wasnt much. The lady gave me the $ back, after giving me a hard time for not having their crappy food with me. This place, is so gross. It has went down hill so much. My Grandma and I used to go and have a great lunch, in a thriving business that took pride in their establishment. this is no longer the case. This place should be shut down !!!

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Oklahoma– despite the negative reviews read here, we had a good experience. Food was hot and fresh, particularly the catfish, meatloaf, and the to-die-for mac and cheese. Rolls were soft and sweet and I probably could have easily put away half dozen of them. Portions don’t look like they’re large, but they are– you’ll easily be full. Great value for the money. Restaurant interior was clean and employees were attentive to clearing empty tables, though the restrooms needed a little more attention. To be fair, we were there during a slow time, so they may not have been checked as often.

It’s been a few years since the last visit, but I remember being blown away by the things you could get here — country fried steak, pot roast, catfish, giblets, chicken, cobbler, and cinnamon rolls. And it all came in such massive portions. I remember getting really full halfway through the chicken fried steak, with mashed potatoes and biscuits and actually uttering, «Goddamn, everything really is bigger in Texas.» You would be hard-pressed to really call this place fast food back in California. It’s on the level of Denny’s and Norm’s, but faster and honestly, with better food.

We used to have a Grandy’s in SA, so I just had to stop when I saw the sign. It’s like eating at an old farm-town family owned restaurant, but fast. The Bread was fresh and the food was delicious. Huge servings and a great price. We all walked away happy…

On the run? Need a quick breakfast? This was a spur of the moment decision and a relatively pleasant surprise. It’s early a.m. and the day is unfolding too quickly already. Stomach rumbling before it’s supposed to. Rarely eat breakfast, but today hunger pains will not permit me to wait until lunch. Didn’t want to make the time to get gussied up for a more elaborate brunch experience. I am not a fan of fast food spots, but had heard about Grandy’s breakfast buffet from a Cuz. And, rather glad I stopped by. Scrambled Eggs — fluffy, soft, and moist just how I like them. Pretty darn tasty! Sausage Patty — Grandy’s, you do it right. Not overcooked and tough like I’ve experienced even at «better» restaurants. Perfect and a pretty large chunk of goodness. Potatoes — chunks of sauteed starch; no wow factor, probably would pass on these in the future. Grits — one of my fave things with eggs. Add a little butter and honey, and wa la, creamy delish spoonfuls. Biscuits — these weren’t to my liking. A little too dry and heavy for my taste.(Note to self — get pancakes next time) Gravy — not too shabby, with lots of added pepper; good for dipping the sausage. Yum. Also on the buffet were bacon, fruit & pancakes, with some salsa, cheese, etc. Price — incredibly inexpensive(okay, CHEAP) @ $ 5.99(sans coffee). Service — Quick by friendly smiling staff. Restaurant — sparkling clean, buffet replenished often and promptly. Glad I stumbled onto to this spot on I-35 @ Valwood in Carrollton. This will definitely do when in a hurry. I was in and out in 20 minutes, tummy growls subsided. Next time food is required in the a.m., just might be back!
