I stopped in Firewurst a few times at this location, and really enjoyed the food and service the times I was there. I also attended a Unilocal Elite event here over the Summer and enjoyed the free food at the event. This event also allowed me to learn about the family business and how they hoped to have a few locations as corporate and then open up the concept to franchising nationally.(Originally I thought Firewurst was already a National franchise and just starting out in the RDU area). They really went all out to please the Unilocalers and display their offerings at the Unilocal event(which were quite delectable). Very sad to hear recently that the Firewurst concept will not be continuing much longer, due to their brand not being in line due to culinary trends and also the World Health organization’s report on processed meat(not healthy according to WHO [World Health Organization], but WHO cares, YOLO!). I am appreciative of the run that Firewurst had in the area and the efforts of the Morgenstern family to start-up this business. Your food is delicious and even though a high-end hot dog concept didn’t work in the long run, the locations were a bright spot as an alternative to the hum-drum fast food offerings in this area.

Came here on my lunch break to try some of their lauded meaty delights! This place has been in my Unilocal bookmarks since August and I was so happy to finally have a chance to try them out today. When you come in you immediately notice the clean and modern interior with ample seating and the smell of fresh meat. Everything is done bistro style which makes it easy to get your food quickly while still receiving good service. After looking at the board for just a few minutes, I decided to go with the bratwurst traditional style(grilled peppers, grilled onions and spicy mustard) and the sweet potato fries after enlisting the help of the very sweet cashier to make my decision. My only concern was whether or not the portion would be enough to fill me up. But I figured if I wasn’t full, I can always come back and order a bit more. After a wait of no more than 6 to 7 minutes. My meal was delivered to the table and it was hearty portion indeed. I am avoiding bread but did take a small nibble to find it soft, perfectly baked and delicious(I did it for you my fellow Unilocalers). After reluctantly removing the bratwurst from it’s yummy bun, I went to town with a fork and knife. The onions and peppers were perfectly cooked with a nice flavor. Definitely fresh and chopped to the perfect size. The bratwurst was not your run-of-the-mill grocery store«bratwurst». It was clearly made with high-quality meat boasting the perfect fat to meat ratio making it tender, juicy and flavorful. The spicy brown mustard on top was a whole-grain variety that meshed perfectly with the pepper and onions to complement this meaty masterpiece. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned bits of kosher salt. The portion was just enough to be full without overdoing it. The aioli served on the side complemented the sweetness of the potatoes perfectly. For years I have been in an exclusive relationship with French fries but decided to step out today and you know what? I’m glad I did it()! These are easily the best sweet potato fries I have ever had!(I will be back for you my sweets) After I finished my meal I found that I was perfectly satisfied. It was a generous portion that only cost me $ 7.49 with tax! You can’t beat it! I will certainly be back here and I’ll be telling everyone I know! Is the perfect way to get an elevated version of a NC state fair favorite year round!

After attending the Unilocal event I love to revisit places and see how everything is when not shining in the limelight. It was truly tasty I had the West Coast dog plus bacon and avocado… I think it needs kale thought,…just saying and a side salad, The service was quick and they were very helpful in getting me everything I needed the price can be a little much for what it is however… it was close to 25 dollars for me and my boyfriend, but the flavor was good which it whats important.

I went back again and ordered a hot Italian sausage deep south style. The sausage was cooked perfectly and was big and juicy. The sausage wasn’t too spicy, but was full Italian flavor. One bite and you can tell they use top quality sausages and they’re not greasy at all. The pimento cheese, slaw and BBQ sauce all went together very well. The hoagie roll was soft and held everything together without falling apart. I really enjoyed the sausage and will go back to try other styles.

BEWAREOFTHEUPSALE! We went for kids night and I came away with a very bad taste in my mouth. While the cashier was extremely polite, she offered us options that cost extra without informing us. Those extra charges are NOT listed on the menu. And believe me I looked very thoroughly. Want milk with your kids meal instead of a fountain drink? Sure.(The menu just says ‘drink’ is included) check your receipt — she just added $ 1.50 for it without telling me. Apples and fries are listed as side choices for the kids meals but no where does it indicate you’ll be paying 60 cents extra for those apples. Our«free» kids meal ended up costing an extra $ 2.10. Yeah I know it’s not a ton of money, but not telling the customer(whether on the menu or told to me at checkout) is definitely a huge deal to me. My updated review has lost a star. In fact I would like it be to just 2.5 stars. And I don’t know if we’ll be back. Too bad– I like the food. *I have messaged Dan with the receipt information. And will follow up. I’m thinking this is not a register error — the employee confirmed the extra charges when she delivered the food to our table. *my last response to Dan: «I greatly appreciate your offer of a free entrée. I’m afraid I won’t be taking advantage of it. I really don’t like the way I felt after seeing my bill. It’s not about the dollar amount — its about being mislead. I would only like for you to correctly train your employees to inform guests of extra charges and that if it happens to offer and remove those extra charges if the customer was uninformed. I am pleased with your responsiveness — it shows you care for your customers. You need to make sure your employees reflect that. I wish you luck with your business.»

I finally made it back to Firewurst after the awesome Unilocal elite event we had there this summer. We went for dinner during the week and it was not busy at all. I’m guessing they might be more of a lunch place. The person who took our order was really friendly and was helpful in sharing their most popular«styles» that you can add to your creations. But I ended up going with their Firewurst sandwich after sampling it at the elite event. It tasted just as good as I remembered, but it was a little pricey in my opinion. While I know they use high quality ingredients, which means an increase in the price, I can’t see myself justifying visiting here regularly. You have to spend over 6 dollars for just the sandwich alone and you do not get any fries or a drink with it. But Firewurst does have daily specials that could make the prices more reasonable depending on what you order. We also ordered a large fry to share for 2 of us and it was more than plenty. We could have easily shared them with another person or 2. We had the fries with the sea salt and they were very good and better than your typical fast food fry. While I enjoyed my food at Firewurst, the price has me docking them to 3.5 stars. I wouldn’t come here regularly, but I expect that I will be back at some point.

Four stars for any establishment giving vegetarians true protein-filled options, versus ‘we serve salad.’ The veggie hot dog and veggie sausage were great, akin to the ones we would serve at home and very nice to have this available. Patient, family friendly service. BOGO(Buy One Get One free) offer available on Firewurst’s website. Worth your patronage. **NOTE to Owner: Please rethink playing non-stop Hendrix at loud decibel levels on a Sunday morning. Felt like psychological torture and we had to move outside.

I’m really shocked I have not written a review about this place since I have been three times! Great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner! It is a locally owned and operated business(which really surprised me) as they are looking to franchise out in the future. They offer really fresh and yummy hots and burgers. My favorite is the firewurst sandwich – grilled sourdough, hot dog, cheese, bacon, and sweet and sour sauce. Delicious(and greasy). I also opt for the fires dusted with parm cheese. YUMMM. It is always clean and the service has been fast and attentive when I have been. For lunch, they are pretty busy during the week and the team knows it is important to get customers in and out very quickly. For dinner, it is much quieter, but still good. My one complaint is that it is a little pricey for what it is. It’s quality ingredients but a sandwich, fries and an ice water will set me back about $ 11.

This place is good! I loved the theme of a German style approach. The sausages is the way to go and you can choose from about 8 different ones and plenty of toppings. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a Harty meal!

This place has the best burger ever, much better than Five Guys. Service is always great and the food is hot and fresh. I love the sweet potato fries with bbq ranch dipping sauce. I will definitely be back to Firewurst.

While the food was good the service… Was strange to say the least. The girls at the front were extremely spacey or were just so preoccupied with something else that they ignored the customers and acted really weird 90% of the time. I was ready to order as soon as I came up to the counter but instead of being greeted I was left watching three girls bus food and chat for about two minutes before they noticed I was just hanging out… Watching them. Then when the girl finally took my order she kept looking past me at the door. Finally I looked over my shoulder(trying to figure out what he was looking at) and she just snapped out of it and apologized for not paying attention. After that when I paid with a five(my meal ended up being like $ 3.80 after our lovely Unilocal coupons from our last event there) the girl looked down at my money, stared at it for a second and then instead of giving me a dollar and change(which was in the register) proceeded to count out nickles, dimes and pennies before placing the pile in my hand. At this point I was really weirded out… The whole counter interaction was just plan odd… But I decided to take my seat and wait for my meal to be brought to me… Fifteen minutes later(I was about o chew my arm off at this point) the same girl started wandering around the restaurant asking several tables if my food belonged to them before coming up to me and asking what I ordered. Once I realized she had been peddling my food around the resturant I just took it and prayed this all wasn’t one big weird joke or something. Luckily the food was normal, and quite good in fact! I just don’t think I could deal with one of the weirdest staff interactions again.

I ordered the coney with kraut. parm fries(which were lukewarm, but not greasy). The Peak green tea on tap is good with lots of ice to cut down the sugar content. Service was super slow and the place was packed… I may try again. possibly a burger. but will skip the fries.

Having enjoyed our Unilocal elite event here, I returned for lunch. Since I tried samples of lots of the menu items, I decided to go with something that was not in the tasting — the Bacon BBQ Double Stack Burger. And because I enjoyed them so much at the tasting, I had as my side fries covered with chili. Loved the entire meal. The two Angus Beef burgers had a great flavor with the swiss cheese, and bbq sauce. Loved the chili sauce(again) on the fries. If I didn’t live on the other side of town I would probably be a frequent diner here. Really like that this is a locally owned eatery. If you talk about this place on Twitter. instagram or a few other places while you are there, your post might show up on one of their tv monitors!

Firewurst was a pleasant surprise! We recently visited the Cary location as part of a Unilocal event and were able to taste quite a bit of the menu. My favorites were the Baja-vocado dog, topped with avocado, jalapeño and a rich ranch sauce. Also, the wasabi cucumber slaw, which was on point and a nice balance to the rich sausages/dogs, and the Bombay sandwich– a sourdough panini with vegetarian apple-sage sausage, a coriander– mint chutney, sliced potatoes and tomatoes and cheddar. My husband really enjoyed the Philly-delphia style burger, which is like a Philly cheese-steak and the chili-cheese fries. The menu seems to have something for everyone, including three vegetarian options. The portions are generous and the menu is very well priced, with most sausages and dressed up hot dogs coming in at under $ 5. Also, there’s a $ 4.99 kid’s meal and beer and wine. The space is comfortable and polished, so much so that it feels like part of a big, national chain, but it isn’t, it’s a locally owned family business. We will definitely be back!

If you’re searching for a gourmet dog with tasty toppings & delicious sides, look no further! Firewurst is a locally-owned bratwurst joint with tons of other chicken & vegetarian options too. Located next to Bass Pro Shop on Harrison Avenue across from SAS, this place is a great option for a quick & delicious lunch or dinner, and they even cater events. The restaurant is so clean, and there are tons of booths & tables for large groups! I had the pleasure of trying many of their dogs at a Unilocal Elite event. Hands down, my favorite dog was the baja-vacado dog topped with jalapeño & a tasty sauce. My second favorite was the classic bratwurst, but the chili cheese fries were on point too. They serve up tasty Angus beef hamburgers, but I really enjoyed the chicken sausage– so flavorful! I also liked how their menu included tons of vegetarian options– and their Bombay Vegetarian sandwich seemed to be a big hit. They even have 6 or so craft beers on tap– everyone knows those go great with a tasty dog :) I’m surprised they’re locally owned & not franchised because their décor & menu show the investment they’re making here, and it pays off! The owners– two brothers and their dad– started this place because grilled bratwursts are a family tradition. The staff was super knowledgeable and friendly– I truly love their passion! All in all, this place is fabulous for a quick & savory meal. I’m eager to try their Brier Creek location!

Extremely tasty sweet Italian sausage with sautéed onions and peppers. The Süße Soße sauce is a delightful sweet and sour sauce. Sweet potato fries are crispy and delicious. Service was friendly and helpful. Classic Rock playing. Nice place!

I really like this place, not sure if it’s because it’s so clean, if it’s because the food is always awesome, or if it’s because the people that work here are so nice, but whatever it is it keeps me coming back! I always get the bacon BBQ burger, I know that’s not their specialty, but it’s Damn good regardless! And the fries, probably the best I’ve had around here(and they give you a LOT!) Also it’s nice that they have some outdoor seating for when the weather is good. They make their buns and rolls in house, and the meat is of great quality. Seriously, give this place a try!

This is an okay place, a new concept and I was pretty happy about trying the chicken sausage. Even if the concept is nice it kind of lacked flavor. The veg sausage Bombay sandwich left a lot to be desired. I really like the idea, but I think the food here can use a little more attention. The fries were really good, I would go back to this place again(as I have a Groupon) and see if there is more to try. The place overall is impressive, the sitting the ambiance for the location of where it is. The service here was okay, nothing too friendly or forthcoming.

Came to this plaza on a whim looking for some dinner, and the signage above the restaurant caught our eye. Walked in, nice, clean, modern facility with a cool vibe. You walk along the left wall to the registers to place your order. Good selection with vegetarian options as well. We were originally worried because my husband doesn’t typically eat any beef or pork, so to hear they had vegetarian and poultry options was fantastic. I ordered a basic hamburger, made a combo with sweet potato fries, while my husband got a chicken sausage hot dog with crispy onion rings. The sides are phenomenal… The sweet potato fries has a sweet/spice to them, and the dipping sauce that comes with it is perfect. The onion rings are so wonderfully lightly breaded and fried that they didn’t feel heavy or too greasy. The burger was great, juicy with that slight char-broiled flavor. Checking out the stuff on their walls, we come to find out that their meat is locally derived when possible, which is an important factor to us(we love supporting local farms/companies). Husband also said he enjoyed his chicken sausage burger. A bit out of the way for us, but definitely a pleasure stumbling across this place!
