Stopped this little shop today while looking around for antique shops. It’s a nice store. Definitely not«thrift shop» prices. The gentleman inside was really nice and helpful. They have a little bit of everything.

Olde Loft, recently opened, is a fascinating store. There are definitely antiques — both 19th and 20th century — here. It’s unusual, however, in that nearly everything is of a manageable size. Many antique places have those huge pieces that, while beautiful, are almost impossible to work inside an average home. Olde Loft has a few of those items, but most everything else would easily fit nearly anywhere. The spinning wheel, the victrola, and original singer sewing machine are in great condition. There isn’t a lot of glassware, thankfully, but there are plenty of knickknacks in good condition. Olde Loft is an everyman store of things culled from the average person’s home. The log cabin pattern quilt, hanging from the upstairs railing, is beautiful. Hand-sewn, it is probably the most well-worn item in the store. I don’t even know if it is for sale. The experience starts outside the store with things like an old bicycle, baby carriage, a wood footlocker, and miscellany, all hinting of further treasures within. I like antique stores, some more than others as there’s a fine line between antique and junk, but Olde Loft is a nice nostalgic trip with plenty of the former and not so much of the latter.
