sad to say but this is the worst chinese food i’ve ever had in my life. The food is super salty and no flavor at all. The people are nice so I I didn’t give them a 1 star.

I’ve been here many times. The only reason I keep coming back is because it is close to my job. I don’t know where they buy their chicken or how they process it but It comes out with a foul stench. I’ve tried the orange chicken, Kung Po chicken, teriyaki chicken, lemon chicken, zucchini chicken, and mushroom chicken. They’re all inedible. The chow mein and broccoli beef are OK. It is cheap and the portions are big but the quality is definitely one star. The workers are nice.

I’ve been many times at the china bowl, the portions are large and the price is cheap I enjoy eating there I haven’t had anything bad yet so if you’re hungry and you’re on a budget and like to eat that’s the place to go decent variety.

Ordered lemon chicken and sweet and sour something couldn’t tell. Both hot on the outside but cold and rubbery on the inside. 3 bites then in the trash. Too bad was hoping for the best. Lady working the counter was very nice!

Barrrrrrrrf Food was gross. Not even ok and you can’t force it down if you cover it with sweet and sour sauce and soy sauce. I would not eat here if it was your treat. Disgusting. And we wanted a special order of garlic chicken but she didn’t get what we were trying to say/request so she kept pushing the Orange chicken. Yuck yuck and yuck. Tossed it all in the garbage there

1 word could sum up the experience & that word is = GROSS. But when you’re hungry, it’s in your face sometimes you roll the dice & try it. It smelled wonderful as we walked in. Lady behind the counter was neither nice nor unfriendly. Food amounted to $ 14 wasted & burping up crappy food. Over battered chicken with no real flavor. Ick

Portions are huge. Food is cheap. Service is fast. But flavor is nothing special. I got the eggplant with chow mein and eggrolls. I came during lunch time so I would think the food would be pretty fresh but the chow mein was a bit dry. This isn’t the first time coming here, it’s because it’s conveniently close to my job. Not the worst but not the best. Will only come back if in desperate need for Chinese food.

Been here twice and both times I’ve been let down badly. The Lemon chicken wasn’t really edible. The chow mien was dry and the broccoli beef was ok. I won’t be back. Sadly all these steam bowl places lose their quality right after they open. This place needs to refocus on its quality.

Fast food chinese food… ahhh, one of my ultimate guilty pleasures in life. After moving to Castro Valley I was on the search for my new go-to Chinese fast food joint within a few miles. Despite the lack of stars on Unilocal,we decided to give China Bowl a try. We were more than satisfied! The main reason for the four stars is that their orange chicken is made of pretty good quality white chicken meat. That’s super rare. I find most cheap generic fast chinese food establishments use crappy meat and drown it in batter and sauce to divert your attention from it. I find that China Bowl uses more meat than others. Tip: If you want more food order three items. More than enough for two to share.

I’m giving this 3 starts because overall the food was okay but the customer service was great. My bf and I tried the seafood soup, which was pretty bland. We added soy sauce to it and that helped. We also tried 3 entrée plates with orange chicken, lemon chicken, and sweet and sour. All three had way too much breading/fried batter. The beef and broccoli was my favorite along with the chow mein. All in all, nothing was spectacular, however you get what you pay for. If I want another low cost meal similar to panda, I’ll come again.

Got lunch here today and the only good points they are getting is that they are customer friendly and fast. However, the fried rice was not cooked all the way and lacked flavor. The teriyaki chicken is almost always dry(one time though, it was really gopd and flavorful) but today it was dry flavorless and very chewy. I’m not at all please with the food I got today.

A decent place if you come in knowing what to expect… Panda Express type Chinese food(fried, greasy, non traditional Chinese dishes) for a low price and lots of it. I ordered two boxes of food to go for a meeting, sweet & sour pork and lemon chicken. They even threw in some white rice as well, which was nice. Decent food. The only issue I had is I thought there was too much breading on the pork. Decent filler food or if you need a quick bite. Friendly service as well!

My boyfriend and dad love this place. For 6 dollars you get a whole container filled to the brim with three entrees fried rice and/or chow mein. The food is good and the portions are huge. Not sure why all the other reviews are so much lower, it’s fast food Chinese, the food is just that. The service is good, the ladies always remember us. We always buy a dollars worth of fortune cookies to snack on. All in all great quick takeout dinner.

Place is nice, and food looked good. I had 3-item combo with fried rice for under $ 7. Rice was okay, eggplant w/fried tofu was also okay with some tough tofu pieces. Curry chicken actually had some flavor. I did not care for the artificial flavor added to the mushroom chicken. It tasted like(artificial) butter which did not go well in Chinese food. I did not read other reviews before going to this place. I think I will try King Kong before coming back here.

No no no no no. I went here the other day with memories of yummy food from several years ago. The chow mein looks like fat worms. The rice was super bland and small grained, and the broccoli beef… well, some of the beef was brown and some was more pink. Also bland and chewy. The broccoli didnt fare much better. there really isnt much selection, maybe ten items. The place is clean and well lit. Shares a small parking lot with the asian liquor store next door. They looked at me funny when I asked for chop sticks. Blonde girl use chopstick? Yes, in fact she does.

This place is PRETTYGOOD for fast food Chinese! Lots of dishes to choose from and they give HUGE portions! The food isn’t as greasy as most Chinese food but it’s still very flavorful! 2 items over fried rice, chow mein or steamed rice for less than $ 6! AWESOME!
