I actually give this place a solid 0 stars, and it’s ironic I say that because I didn’t even have to buy anything from here. I’ll explain. I drove out of my city last night to come here and try it, trusting what I saw from the commercials. that was a mistake. I walked in forty five minutes before they closed, and I know that’s not always the best time to come in to a business, I personally work at a place that deals with people and people coming in at the last minute so I can relate to how it feels when you are at your last hour, but I always show respect and care to people regardless of the time, or what’s going on in my head, whether i’m having a good or bad day… There wasn’t anyone inside, so I don’t think I was causing any problems by ordering food… I walked inside and nobody greeted me. Everybody was looking down. There was an Asian gentlemen, looked like he worked as either a supervisor, he had on a black collar work shirt, I don’t know what his position was there but he looked at me and walked into the back. NOBODY said anything. I just thought to myself WHATEVER… you don’t wanna attract business? You rather try to beat the clock and give out the vibe that you don’t want to help anyone out? WHATEVER. I just looked at the menu for about two minutes at the most and walked right out, I felt so unwelcome it made me feel crappy for even trying to find the place. They had a counter in the front with all the foods in steam pots, or that might not be the word for it, but it was where they prep your food, looked like. The girl that was serving all the food had her hair down, and I noticed her hair was frizzy, which there isn’t anything wrong with that, I’m not hating on her features, but it does give people the paranoia of her hair possibly ending up in the food, and when I say that I don’t mean to disrespect anyone for what they look like, or how they choose to present themselves, BUT I will say that when customers come in and see that? It’s a TERRIBLE look… I will never come here, ever again… To be honest if you want good bbq, you don’t go to Castro valley, you go to either Oakland/Berkeley or San Leandro/Hayward. This franchise is something else… I don’t know much about the man and woman in the commercials but I don’t trust them. Overall, the whole staff is bad. And not to mention when I walked out I heard the girl yell out words to her co workers, making ME to be the one that had the problems… Like I walked in and you didn’t even say«hello how can I help you?» Nobody wanted to help me out why would you talk bad about me being silent and just leaving when you aren’t even trying to help me out? And say it when I’m leaving? That’s cowardly. And Its petty, because it’s not like I enjoy writing these reviews, it’s not like I was giving you grief I just wanted to try your place out that’s all… I didn’t give any signs of negativity… It’s actually your job to make people feel welcome and help them. I kind of want to know who the manager is now, so i can tell them how bad they messed up by hiring all these people who clearly don’t want to work there. Or maybe they do, for the paycheck probably –_________– that’s fine, you can think that. But your business is empty, your store is empty. I mean EVENIF it’s just a food place, it doesn’t matter, since when is it so hard to find good service, of people who aren’t afraid to be kind and say«hey, how’s it going? How’s your day going?» I didn’t get anything like that here. And even if you don’t like your job enough to care, ITSSTILLYOURJOB. Why are you working there if you all wanna act that way? Not my fault your stuck there.

Was a regular here, until today. I come in on a weekly basis. I happened to forget my debit card today but had $ 11 cash on me. My total came out to be 13. Which also threw me off because I always order the same thing. Quarter plate beef brisket one side, 2 buns. Sometimes its around $ 9 sometimes its $ 13. I never really cared, anyways I was short today and they just left me on a limb. Of course I would have paid the diff when I came back tomorrow but I guess loyal customers dont have a place here. Ended up going to Nations down the street.

The place was small and not very busy. We tried the pulled pork, brisket, ribs and spicy cheesy sausages. All though their bbq sauces were delicious I felt that the meat was too fatty. On sundays kids eat free and if you dine in you get complimentary icecream cone. The sides that were good were the loaded baked potato, the mac and cheese, the baked beans and the coleslaw. The potato salad creamy but bland. Good portions and friendly service. the hottest sauce to me was not hot at all.

We stumbled upon this BBQ joint and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the pleasant servers. The gal behind the counter helped us maximize our order for the amount of money spent and my mother and I had a very filling dinner of pork ribs w three sides for about $ 20!

5 stars primarily for customer service from manager Brittany. She understands how important it is to recognize repeat customers and treat them with respect, and all with a smile. She separates herself from others however because the friendliness comes across as genuine. In an era of fading customer service, I appreciate that. Food can be hit or miss but mostly good I would rate a 4 stars. Sometimes meat a little dry. Ice cream is indeed grainy We go on Sunday nights a lot where kids eat free so the value is not bad. Can be busy if you get there after 6pm

This Dickey’s was awful. The service was EXTREMELY slow(there was only 1 person in line who had already given their order when we came in), pulled pork was dry, over cooked and cold and the portion I was served was small.(Less than ¼ cup of meat.) Over priced, cold, dry food with a side of slow service… be warned. I know I’m never going back!

Went there yesterday. Haven’t ate there in a few month. No customers. Just us. S The girl took forever to cut our meat. Then to get side dish is another wait… meanwhile your meat is getting cold. Crazy long time!!! The temp outside was about 70 but inside they had it about 60 degrees. I mean I’m hot blooded but this was so cold it was uncomfortable. My food was already cold!!! The floors were so sticky it looked like they mopped with soda! Food area where they cut meat was so nasty!!!

Sides are amazing! Baked potato casserole was better than I thought it would be. Manager was also very nice and seemed to genuinely care. The ribs I got were kinda dry but it was pretty good with the spicy BBQ sauce. Free Icecream!

For a place that’s supposed to specialize in good tasting meats this place isn’t very good. $ 27 for what seems like less than a 1lb of meat. I can get a 5lb tri tip from AL’s for that(and that stuff is amazing). First and last time trying out this over priced stuff.

Visited on a Sunday after folks were out from church, and it was super crowded with large parties – mainly families with children(apparently, children eat free on Sundays). Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t mind the children, but I did mind the slow service. The line didn’t move for at least 10 minutes, and if I wasn’t super hungry and craving pulled pork I would have left. I ordered a pulled pork salad. It was just okay. I asked for the sauce on the side, but apparently it doesn’t come with sauce(which it needed). I don’t usually drown my salads with anything, but the meat was lacking in flavor and juice. The best thing about the salad was the fried onions. I don’t know if I will return. The person making my meal was not friendly, but I did receive a smile and some wit from the cashier.

Not sure why this location only has 2 ½ stars. Friendly employees, quick service, good ribs and decent sides. The baked potato casserole was lacking some flavor and the restaurant could use some minor improvement(dirty counter, wobbly tables). But, overall a pleasant experience.

I love this place. Delicious food. The pulled pork was awesome. You cannot eat at Dickies without getting the Baked Potato Casserole. Too good for words! And free ice cream?! It just doesn’t get better. Their big yellow soda cups can also be taken home and reused. Again, it doesn’t get better than Dickey’s BBQ. Very impressed with this place. Side note on the actual location: very clean, not busy, very friendly staff. Great job, Dickey’s! Keep up the good work.

My chicken was super dry and the only veggies they have — their salad — comes in a little tiny cup with ranch dressing. The other meats were okay but I wish they carried some healthier options and figured out how to cook meat without over drying it. BBQ sauce was good and the free soft serve is nice, and you can take the soda cups home. There were 2 teenagers working and it was really hard to get their attention, even though we were the only patrons in the restaurant

I don’t know why the reviews are so bad. I’ve been meaning to try Dickey’s out since they opened in CV, but this is the first time I had the opportunity. I went on Sunday afternoon, and it was mostly empty. Service was very fast. The girl behind the counter was obviously new, but was very nice and the other person behind the counter helped out. We got a couple sandwich plates. Brisket on one sandwich, and pulled pork on the other. The meats seemed tender, and tasted good. Not a ton of smoke flavor, but decent flavor. They have 3 sauces, mild, sweet and hot. They all taste very similar and are thin. I preferred the sweet mixed with hot. The sweet seemed to have a little kick, probably pepper. The hot wasn’t really hot, but more than the others, and with visible chili peppers. It’s kind of pricey. A sandwich plate is over $ 10 for a sandwich and 2 sides. I know BBQ is expensive, but I wish it was a little less.

Food is decent. I have always ordered for to go but when I pick up it seems pretty dead in there. Never had any issues until this past visit. Ordered online, next day I see 2 identical«pending» charges. I waited a few days, finally one cleared my account but the other stayed«pending» so I figured it would just go away. However 2 days later it also posted to my account which cause an overdraft. I call and speak with the manager JR., he has to research & call me back. He calls back and says the checked the whole months records and my card was only used once and he can’t help me I have to call me bank. I call my bank and they give me transaction #‘s, which I Call back AGAIN and give to JR. He looks into it and calls back, turns out they DID charge me twice, shocker, like I didn’t know that. He will refund my card and I can take the other fees up with my bank. Great, another phone call and more wasted time for their mistake. I wasn’t offered anything besides the money they owed me, not even an apology, just an «I’m trying to help you» by telling my to waste my day making phone calls when they should have done the research. Poor poor service from JR. and the owner Jimmy.

On Saturday, 1÷3÷15, my girlfriend and I decided to hit up Dickey’s Barbecue Pit for dinner and order some food to go. Atmosphere/Décor: Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is located in a shopping center next to 24 hour fitness. What’s funny to me is I bet there have been a handful of people that went into 24 hour, worked out, then headed over to Dickey’s for some good old BBQ thinking I just busted my butt in the gym so why not treat myself. Hahaha. Funny. There were plenty of seats to sit at inside of Dickey’s. I saw a TV on the left side of the wall which had a football game on. There is also a soft serve ice cream machine. Anyone who orders food to go or eats at Dickey’s can help them self to complimentary ice cream. Food: I ordered the 2 Meat Plate(Turkey & Brisket) with a side of potato salad and Mac & Cheese. The Turkey was really good. I don’t really eat smoked turkey that often but I liked this turkey a lot. The Brisket was really good too. You can never go wrong with good beef brisket. The potato salad sucked! I took one bite of it and couldn’t eat anymore. It was watered down and way too liquidly. It just didn’t taste good either. I should have tried their Caesar salad as a side as I initially intended on doing but changed my mind at the last second. The Mac & Cheese was good. It was really cheesy and creamy. It reminded me of Stouffer’s Mac & Cheese. My plate came with a roll. I can’t believe they actually gave me this particular roll. It was beyond burnt and ridiculously hard! I’m surprised I was able to take a bite out of it. I couldn’t even chew it though. It was inedible. One of the staff members should have noticed something was wrong with the roll based on its color. The roll was literally dark brown! The roll my girlfriend got with her meal was white/yellow! My girlfriend ordered the 1 Meat Plate(Chicken) with a side of Green Beans with Bacon and Baked Potato Casserole. She liked her Chicken a lot. She said it was tender and flavorful. She said the Green Beans with Bacon tasted nasty. She liked the Potato Casserole. She said it tasted like mashed potatoes with cheese on top. We also enjoyed the 3 different types of BBQ sauces Dickey’s offers. My favorites were the sweet and mild BBQ sauce. Service: The guy that took my order was nice. The other guy that asked me what sides I wanted was nice. The girl that rung us up at the register was nice. My only complaint about the service would be about how my burnt roll went unnoticed. I don’t know why they would serve someone a roll that can’t be eaten. To me this clearly shows the employees don’t double check the food before they serve it. This is lack of experience in my opinion or just not giving a crap. I know it’s just a roll but would you serve a piece of brisket not trimmed with all the fat on it? I hope not. Overall: I’ve eaten at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit a few times. This was the first time I’ve eaten at this particular location. I like the Turkey and Brisket at Dickey’s. They were tender, tasty and flavorful. You can’t go wrong with either. I’ve also tried their ribs in the past and they are good as well. Stick with the Mac & Cheese or Baked Potato Casserole as your sides and you’ll be fine.

Lots of unhappy customers but still took my wife her to give it a try because my wife is from Texas and as everyone should know Texas is big in BBQ, I had brisket and turkey breast a side of mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese, my wife had brisket and chicken breast with a side of mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese and we are very pleased with the food. The reason of giving 3 stars is because the trays were very greasy and they were out of sweet tea.

3.5 stars — Review for partry tray brisket. My sister has ordered a tray of brisket for family gatherings twice. First time, the chopped and the 2nd time, the sliced brisket which were both delicious accompanied with their mild, medium and hot bbq sauces. I wouldn’t say Dickey’s is stellar barbecue but delicious ‘fast food’ bbq. As long as you have reasonable expectations, you won’t be disappointed… basically, it’s like going to Sizzler’s and expecting it to be like Alexander’s Steakhouse which you’re not gonna get! If anything, free soft serve ice cream while you wait!
