The place is closed down now but might as well write a review just in case they bring it back. It’s in the middle of no where and even starting from Castro V, it’s pretty far. Chicken marsala was very salty. The waiters were very accomodating and nice. For people who appreciated nice furnitures and dimly lit atmosphere. The venue was nice for banquets and parties, I’ve attended an 18th birthday here once before and they has a ballroom and plenty of space.

Backstory: Got a groupon that led me to that led me here. Our waitress was named Nancy. — place is on a golf course — only ones in there — Waitress dropped my boyfriends fish and chip on table and picked it back up with her hand and put it back on plate — but the COUPDEGRAS, honestly the only part that bugged us, she added an 18% gratuity on a party of 2. Which I think is rude because it pretty much insinuates she didn’t think we would tip. Why? Because we had a coupon? Bad business.

(review overdue) Went here for an event. Food & drink were decent. Service & décor — OK. The place is very old & outdated. Website is a joke. Zero stars if I could. If you know nothing about this place and wanted to check out their website first, you would never go. They have basically one picture, and a 2012 Easter Brunch schedule from Sunday April 8th, with the old prices! (7÷21÷2012)

I love this place. Friday I had prime rib, a baked potato, and corn. Hubby had what he said was a delicious burger. Mmmmmm everything was perfect. The service was excellent. Love the waiters. This place is a hidden gem. Every dining experience here is consistently excellent. Ribs are the best if in mood!

The most under-rated restaurant in Castro Valley. The food is great and the service is excellent. I eat here once a week with my family. We love the desserts too.

Visited Paradise Grill for the Easter Brunch — it was absolutely wonderful. The buffet included lots of special touches, and everything was delicious. There were lots of families enjoying the special day, and the wait staff couldn’t have been more helpful or attentive. I noticed many of them helping seniors carrying their plates back to their tables. There was an assortment of fresh fruit, salads, pastries, waffles, bagels and fabulous lox. Also cottage potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, an omelet station, and carving station with wonderful ham and roast beef. I loved the dessert table — wow! Juices, teas and coffees rounded out the buffet. Prices were very reasonable — in 2014, it was $ 25/adult. Nice ambience, loved that we could hear each other’s conversations. It is a beautiful setting. Highly recommended! Looking forward to returning for lunch or dinner.

So we went here on a whim because of a gift card. We started off with splitting the special salad a strawberry and candied pecan with a champagne vinaigrette and warm shrimp. I had the special of ahi tuna, which was cooked rare to perfection and served with mixed rice and grilled asparagus. The tuna had a zesty but not overpowering wasabi sauce which while very good I didn’t think it complemented the rice and asparagus. She had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The mushrooms were slightly undercooked, but amazing so I recommend them. The mashed potatoes were very good. The filet was amazing served with a delicious, slightly sweet sauce. Over-all the place was good. Our server was great, she came by at all the right times and refilled our drinks. I agree with another poster that more younger people need to go there. I could see this place being a really great place to go with a bunch of friends after a long week to blow off some steam hitting golf balls and then taking down a big meal.

Going here for dinner is like visiting a ghost town and kind of creepy. The food is similar to Paradiso in San Leandro(same owners) but for some reason I always enjoy the meal here more. Both places are consistently decent but missing any wow factor and a bit overpriced. Worth an occasional trip for something different.

Sadly, I feel compelled to write this review. I have lived in Castro Valley for 30 years and have never felt good about the dining opportunities here. My wife and I have experienced good meals most every time we visited the Paradise Grill, however, for the first time in years our experience ENDED on a sour note, and I can not let it go. When a manager justifies a culinary deceit with a statement that the kitchen tried something new, the establishment has a problem. Everything about tonight’s dinner went well until it came to the desert. The wife and I decided to share a Crème Brûlée, a family favorite. When we placed our spoons into the desert, the entire top, burnt sugar, lifted as if it were days old, and reveled an old, lumpy, somewhat coagulated custard. Immediately, we pushed the dish to the end of the table. i waited for my wife to leave, then called to the manager to show her what was presented to us. I am reasonable, and know that sometimes stuff happens, but when the manager returned from the kitchen and stated they tried something different, my gut tells me she intended to deceive a customer. I have always believed that a business is only as good as it’s weakest link, and tonight I left Paradise Grill wondering what other corners they cut, that, maybe, I am just not skilled enough to see. I am so disappointed that I do not know when, or if, I will try them again.

WOW!!! I was VERY surprised and IMPRESSED!!! The BBQ was GREAT and you can NOT beat the ambiance as it sits RIGHT on the golf course!!! I hear it is the same owner of Paradiso and Blvd Burger which would explain the FANTASTIC food!!! The only reason Im not going 5 stars is because the BBQ are small portions and the need some local hand crafted beer on tap. Some Drakes, Marin, Speakeasy and Laginitus would be awesome!

Went here with some friends for a birthday dinner — had a great time and so I returned several months later with my husband. This is a meat and martini place! I would love to re-design the restaurant it’s very dated and old fashioned — but maybe that’s the charm? It is also an early dinner crowd — the place is empty by 9PM — so go early and have your after dinner drink elsewhere! The people who work there are just wonderful! Friendly and happy — which means the place is managed well. Food is good, beef and lamb dishes are wonderful! Prime Rib on Friday and Saturday but get there early they do run out. Steak and Rack of lamb — yum! The desserts are nothing to write home about so eat all your dinner! The wine list is not fabulous but you can bring your own — they are happy to open and serve it for you — minor corkage fee. Because they do such a nice job of meat dishes I wish we had brought our own wine. It would be worth it to open a good bottle we have been«saving«for the right meal! We will be back to try the BBQ — they have their own smoker — it should be good!

Superb dinner here to celebrate a relative’s birthday. Service was perfect — attentive but relaxed and friendly. Wedge salads were excellent, soup of the day was chicken and rice which was very good. It could have been hotter but I might not be the best judge of temperature since I like my soup absolutely scalding. Entrees: 2-meat BBQ plate(delicious, served with fresh warm cornbread muffin) Famous BBQ platter(outstanding, meat was incredibly tender and flavourful) Filet mignon(absolutely outstanding, melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Better than Forbes Mill’s filet mignon) I’d like to see more wines by the glass, but the merlot I had was wonderful. We could barely manage dessert but had to try the vanilla bean crème brûlée, and it too was excellent. Large portion, perfect for sharing, and wonderfully creamy and rich. An excellent dinner, and we can’t wait to return.

We went here on a whim on a Saturday night. We were the youngest, and certainly the most under-dressed people in the dining room, but they made us feel welcome. We got the pork spare ribs(a bit too peppery for my taste, and could have been hotter, but nicely done nonetheless), and a Niman ranch burger with the works that was quite good. Both the regular and sweet potato fries were excellent. Total for the two was about $ 45 with tip and tax which is a bit expensive for«grill» style food, but it was quite tasty and served in a nice setting with reasonable flair. 4 stars for food, 3 stars for value, rounded up to 4 due to a paucity of good restaurants in Castro Valley with a mediterranean/grill flair.(i.e. not Thai, Chinese, Japanese, or mafia-run Italian)

Eventhough the CV food scene is still fairly sparse, this is still a solid meal and would standout in Oakland or Berkeley. Been there many times for steak, cioppino, salmon, short ribs… will keep going back. Full bar, good wine selections, good martinis, plenty-o-beer. Comfortable setting out in the golf course to walk off a big meal and look at deer and turkeys.

Found it on ($ 25 off minimum order of $ 35). Got there about 20 minutes before the kitchen closed, which I normally would never do, but I was hungry and wanted to use the gift certificate. Anyways, it seems to be a fairly typical golf club diner. Service was good, food not so much. I ordered a chicken and rigatoni dish. The chicken and pasta was cooked pretty well, but the cheese that was melted on top of each chicken breast, along with the sauce that was poured over it and the pasta was too salty. My gf had a shrimp louis salad and she just told me «I don’t like it.» «Why?» I say. She mentioned the crab was alright, but the shrimp didn’t taste very good and the salad was too bland. Oh well. We both decided that we probably won’t return, unless we go golfing there and want a quick bbq bite afterward. This review is based on my experience in the dining room(the certificate from doesn’t allow you to dine in the grill). Cheers!

Came here with the GF for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. We found out about the place through and had a $ 25 gift certificate that was applied to the check. We shared the calamari appetizer, which was good, but a shade bland for my taste(small fault). She had the prime rib, while I had the grilled pork chops. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted great. The service was good and all in all a great time was had. For people like myself(a t-shirt and sweats guy), you need to wear a polo shirt and slacks at the least. No hoodies in this place, if you get the drift. We will definitely be back soon!

Came here with the bf for dinner and would come back again. It’s way down where the golf club is located in Castro Valley so don’t be alarmed if your GPS is telling you to keep driving. The hostess was delightful. We had brought our own bottle of wine and she immediately had someone come with glasses and open it for us to enjoy right when she seated us. The waiter was very pleasant and attentive. I was torn between their new pasta menu or the Filet Mignon and he recommended the Lobster Ravioli and my bf ordered the Filet Mignon. Both were delish! Great service + great food = I have to come back again.

Our first impressions of the place was great! White table clothes, black napkins, nice glassware, but it ended there. We started our meal with French Fries w/our wine(Brought our own). They were the same fries that they serve you at Castro Valley Bowl, However, greasier and soggier. We asked for our salad without bacon, someone made a mistake, luckily the waiter overheard me saying to my girlfriend that there is bacon in it. We get a second Salad and the chicken was warm so they did a good job cooking up a fresh piece of chicken which was nice, but the salad was an entrée in itself and was way over dressed, not following the image of the décor. We then got our entrée cioppino, it was tough, had dried herbs in it, and tasted like canned sauce, sorry, it was just okay. Service was fine. There are 100’s of great restaurants in the bay area with similar price points and 4 times better food.
