My third time here and it’s a charm. 1st was breakfast back in July I forget what we had but, I remember it was good. 2nd time was lunch fish taco’s were excellent, 3rd time southwestern wrap also excellent, love the homemade chips. The place is small and comfortable, nice view of the lake, friendly and fast wait staff. I’m now officially a regular.

Chowder was good. $ 7 for a very small bowl was tough. Food was decent, not bad but not wow. Nice atmosphere, nice quick service. Would check out another place before returning.

The most delicious home made chips! Two different hot sandwiches. Nice spot for lunch in the middle of winter! I live around here and this spot has changed hands many times. I love the latest and will definitely be back!

After finally getting fed up with the village kitchen we decided to try the«mug by the Bay» we arrived around 8 in the morning, to be honest I was nervous because the place was empty only one other couple in the restaurant. The 6 of us ordered and too my surprise the food was awesome. The oatmeal was great home cooked and the home fries outstanding. The service was awesome my kids almost cleaned their plate. If it was not for the portion sizes they would have. We left happy, well served and full. Price wise fine comparable to the other restaurants in the area. Have not tried dinner yet but next weekend for sure… So in closing if you want a place to sit, eat, have conversation in a relaxed environment I would recommend…

This is a quiet, very casual, take your time kind of place. I would certainly not consider it upscale. After a long drive to visit a nearby attraction, this was perfect for our lunch. The service was slow, but the lady who served us was exceptionally pleasant. I thoroughly enjoyed my fish n chips. The fish was fall off the fork tender and the coating was crisp but not hard or burnt. The beer was well chilled. My companion also enjoyed her shrimp quesadilla. There’s a great view of the lake out of large windows. The place was spotless and the prices were quite reasonable. I would definitely go here again. We did not have young children with us, but I did see another family with a child of about twelve. I would not go here if I was with a group of six or more, because it is very small. There was one table where approximately eight people were seated, over near the bar. But in the main area there are about seven(?) tables, suitable for four people. There is a large parking lot but I didn’t notice anything specifically for bikes.

We went here last night with my two daughters, 12 and 10, with each bringing a friend. Things started off a bit disappointing, since our intent on going out was specifically for pizza. Once we sat down we realized that pizza is at another Mug restaurant close by and not served here. We decided to stay and make best of it, so we ordered individually from their menu. If not wanting expensive, the options are mostly limited to burger choices and appetizers. I went with a Mexican burger on a nice soft roll — very good. My wife really wanted their Guinness Stew soup — but she was informed they did not have it available that night. She settled for the seafood chowder(which was ok) and a roll. The kids all ordered from the kids menu — which had good portions and prices. All of them enjoyed their choices, consisting of Chicken Fingers with Fries and Pasta(Linguini). This restaurant offers good food, but unfortunately the service brings down my review. Although our server was very nice, she was extremely untrained on the menu and proved to be slow.(We sat before 6 pm, and there were only a few other tables eating.) This restaurant could also benefit by offering some specials in addition to their menu.

I sooo wanted to give a great review. But can’t. I liked the place. Neat and clean. Even felt a little upscale. But the food just fell short. I got the french country omelet which was bland, dry, and overcooked(is that french?) And the homefries were barely seasoned over boiled potatoes that were more ready for mashing.

Quiet place at the top of the hill across from the town docks. They weren’t keen on having a family with young kids at the restaurant and decided that it was a long wait due to every table being reserved all of a sudden. The tables weren’t reserved until we asked and we had to leave. No apology from the manager who told the 14 year old hostess that the tables were«reserved». Strange, non-family vibe and complete unapologetic management, which is strange in such an otherwise friendly area.

Pretty good breakfast place for the area. I went twice this week and didn’t have to wait to be seated once. The bloody Mary’s were delicious! The breakfast was pretty good both days. Got eggs Benny, the first day they weren’t at all runny which was disappointing. When I asked them the next day to be runnier I still didn’t get that. My sisters omelette was a little dry on the first day. The home fries are unreal though! Cute atmosphere and good food for the price. Service is pretty decent as well. Would recommend! Watch out for the Hornets nest in the sewers outside the shop. Those things look deadly.

This place was awesome with a great view over the water. While my family & I were away for a week we ate here two mornings & we all enjoyed ourselves. Food was great with not much wait & it wasn’t packed as it should have been. I highly recommend this hidden gem

We’ve been going to mugs for years under both old and current ownership. The last people who ran this were a family operation. While the décor was tired the service was fast, food inexpensive and good quality. The new interior is night and day better but like any seasonal restaurant the help are young girls some of whom have little to no experience so the wait can be painful. I guess as they get up to speed things will get better. The food was good though pricey. Our meal averaged $ 9.00 a piece which, for breakfast, is high.

Had tex-mex omelet with home fries and toast, and coffee. Delicious omelet, great service — friendly and attentive. Nice place too. Very clean, nice décor. Back soon!

Musty smell… slow food service. overpriced for what you get… soda for kids a 2.79 upgrade… left feeling nickled and dimed. Much better restaurants in the area… like canoe across the street. Wont be back. Refused Unilocal deal at first until argument.

Recently we ventured out for breakfast. When the first place we went to had a long waiting line, we decided to try the Mug by The Bay. We entered it and found it to be very clean and inviting. The tip off should have been when one of my companions said, look at the table of the people who just left, half of the food is still there. We ordered pretty standard breakfasts, I had a pancake, the others ordered eggs, and one ordered the special. Once we got the food, we had the same result, it was bland and tasteless, and once I got the bill, found out it was a bit pricey — $ 40 with tip for 3 people. Unless they do something to the food, I will continue down the highway to Meridith in the future. Hopefully this is just start up pains.

The Mug By The Bay opened up in the former Sam & Rosie’s Café & Bakery location in Center Harbor. The space was totally renovated and looks very nice and inviting with a fully carpeted dining room and bar area(with several beers on tap) and blue painted walls. Looks nothing like its predecessor, that’s fo-sure! However, there are only 8 tables in the dining room(up to 4 – 6 people per table), plus a few high seats at the bar. The Mug By The Bay serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily offering the traditional breakfast dishes until 12PM, lunch menu is served 11AM-5PM, and dinner nightly at 5PM. Pizza is offered starting at 11AM. See the menu offerings and pricing at(PDF): I stopped by for lunch takeout recently and ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap($ 6.99) served with homemade Mug chips. The staff was friendly and the order was ready in about 10 minutes after I ordered. The wrap I had tasted pretty good, which had diced breaded chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, carrot, & Caesar dressing in a spinach(green) wrap. The Mug chips were crunchy outside and firm on the inside. I wish the potato chips I buy at the store were always like this. I would stop in here again for another meal if I happen to be passing through the area again for work or for a weekend drive. I will have to try out one of their 3 egg omelets served with latkes and toast.
