I’m editing my previous review on tapestry because even though the process of getting my ombré how it was supposed to look from the beginning was grueling, they did do right by me and fixed it. I went back today and had Brittany. She was AMAZING! She really took her time, corrected the brassiness, and made great suggestions. She was also very personable and friendly. I highly recommend her to anyone who is considering going to tapestry.

I will preface this with saying I am satisfied with the end result of my hair. However, as others stated, the front desk staff was not concerned with creating a positive experience. They were running a special on gift cards — buy x dollar amount and get a y dollar amount gift card. I asked if I could purchase it now and use the bonus gift card toward my highlights. They stated you can’t use them the same day you purchase(which is a scam because I could have gone in the day before and bought it, then used it next day. Makes no sense). I made an appointment online and was given a different stylist(I did not care as i only knew one other stylist who works there and she was off that day). They changed the setup so while she was doing my highlights, i was sitting at an island in the center of the room with no access to a mirror. The stylist then said she was going to glaze my hair(I did not ask for glaze, just assumed it was part of the highlight process). She then left me with a timer for 15 minutes. Another lady rinsed my hair, but she used cold waters and splashed water all over my upper body. After she was done, I was awkwardly standing around for ten minutes while my initial stylist was cutting someone else’s hair. Clearly this place double books. She told me I had to wait 15 minutes. I told them I don’t have time to wait, I made an appointment for this reason. Luckily another stylist was a bit early for her shift, and offered to give me a blowout since her client was coming in half an hour. I then get to the front desk, expecting to pay about $ 120(maybe even get a little discount for the awkward standing around portion). She tells me it’s $ 165. As my eyes widen, I ask for an explanation. I am not one to nickel and dime, but this was more than the website indicated my highlights would cost. She said the glaze cost $ 30. I informed her no one mentioned a cost, and I wasn’t offered, I was just told it was going to happen. The person at the desk seemed bothered by my reaction and offered no sort of make good with me. I paid and left. I spoke with a friend who does hair and she said the glaze was likely added because they left the foil on too long and my hair would have been way too light without it. At the same time, I cannot blame the stylist who was expected to do 3 people’s hair at once. I will say that overall, the stylists and shampooers were pleasant. It was just clear that the business is very disorganized and do not clearly state pricing off the bat. I am happy with the way my hair looks, but will not return due to the disorganization and exorbitant cost(I spent $ 200 with tips for highlights and a blowout… no haircut). If you do decide to go, make sure you are very clear about the services you expect to receive and let them know you aren’t interested in any of their add-ons that they treat as standard protocol.

I had my hair colored and frosted here a few years back and it was a mess! I looked like a glowing orange clown! They offered to redo it, but would not refund any part of my money. Guess I didn’t learn my lesson, went back for a single process, dark brown, one week later, spots of reddish brass! I went back in a week to shown them and made a appointment for a later date to have it redone, when I went back I was charged full price to redo it! The nasty lady at the front desk told me I should get my hair dyed every two weeks anyway! Ignoring the fact that the cheap product they used faded and turned brassy! I was going to have them highlight my whole head, but not only don’t I trust their inferior products, I refuse to pay high prices and then be treated as if I don’t matter. There are plenty of salons that know how to treat and keep their customers, but tapestry is not one of them!

Long story short, never going back to this place again. The receptionists at the desk don’t know how to greet the customers. JJ fucked up my hair. She obviously didn’t listen to my request and gave me the worst haircut of my life. I even showed her pictures and the end result looks no where near close to what I wanted. Oh well, I learned my lesson. Thanks for the terrible service and haircut. I’m going back to Salon 3028.

I have been looking for a salon like this for a very long time since my hair is very challenging to color evenly. I have tried many other salons on Long Island and was ready to trek into NYC when a neighbor who is a former hairdresser recommended I try Tapestry in Centereach and ask for Claudia. She is a perfectionist and would not stop until she found a way to give me perfect color all the way through. For the first time since I have had grey hair I can part my hair anywhere. Wish I could give them 6 stars.

Honestly I would follow Joy to either end of Long Island but it’s unfortunate I’m left paying so much for a men’s haircut. I really don’t need tea, cookies or even a hair wash. I am loyal to Joy and her amazing haircuts but it sucks we are trapped into paying so much. They recently raised the prices on men’s haircuts and with tip it’s getting expensive for me.

If you want the absolute best haircut you will ever receive you MUST see Claudia. She is BEYOND amazing. Not only has she repaired other stylists mistakes when I strayed(bad me for trying Groupon!) but she has always given me the best advice and cuts when I went to her. From bobs to pixies, I’ve had them all — and have always left feeling sexy and stylish. I can’t speak for other stylists since I have never used anyone but Claudia there over the last 4 years but trust me when I say you will NOT be disappointed!

Used to come here where Jamie was my stylist. I’ve tried it since she left and was really unhappy with my haircut. Plus I was shocked to find she had left only to be assigned to another stylist with no notice. Their prices are average and the shop is ok. I’m just glad I found Jamie again — she was definitely the reason I kept coming back here.(in case you’re wondering she’s at a shop in Smithtown called Alletante)

Been here a couple of times for haircuts and blowouts. The haircuts were okay — didn’t note it to be outstanding. The blowouts have been consistent and professional. The price point has been okay too — $ 30 for mid to long length hair. There might be some cheaper places in queens, but for long island, that’s a fair price. The interior is very nicely done. They treat you to tea or coffee while you wait, and everyone’s friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a straightforward refresh to your hairstyle, definitely go by Tapestry.

Long story short: WAY overpriced for the quality, the girls are chatty and nice but seem clueless as to how to perform their own services. I went here twice — once for a cut and once for a Brazilian straightening — I heard great things about this salon, mostly from the great reviews they have on Google Places. First of all, the girl who did my Brazilian looked like she didn’t know what she was doing. She kept looking around confused, asking other people who passed by what the next step would be, or how much of this product she should use now. Second of all, there was NO result! I waited the three days with no washing my hair, getting it wet, or putting behind my ears. I would be content to blame myself for setting it wrong, but I have done Japanese chemical hair straightening before and it came out perfect. I know the drill with«healing» these hair treatments. After the three days, my hair went back to normal with no discernible result or difference when compared to my hair before the treatment. Worthless. A wasted $ 300. Well plus the cost of the sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner that they made me buy, which were tiny bottles and RIDICULOUSLY expensive as I found them in another store for almost half the price… even though they assured me that I wouldn’t find them anywhere else. Oh and the first time I had gone I had a totally different girl cut my hair, I asked her for her opinion on a style that would frame my face, to which she responded, «I don’t know, you tell me.» What? That’s what I’m paying YOU for! o_o

I came here for a hair and makeup trial after my mom insisted that I try this salon. I had Heather for an updo and Lisa(I think?) for my makeup. I have a lot of hair, and it’s nearly impossible for anyone to put it up without it looking huge. Heather worked her hardest, but the 1st updo that we tried ended up looking like two huge pom-poms on the sides of my ears. The second updo looked nothing like the picture that I showed her, but I know that my hair isn’t the easiest to work with. The makeup artist used the foundation and eyebrow pencil that I brought with me on my face, and she did a pretty good job applying the remainder of my makeup. I made sure to mention that I have oily eyelids, and that I have to use MAC paint in order for shadow to stay on my lids. She insisted that her technique with concealer, translucent powder and eyeshadow would last all day. I knew that it wouldn’t, and it didn’t. My shadow creased after 3 hours. Heather did recommend some awesome products to use on my hair that has made it stronger and more manageable, so I’m grateful for that. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be using this salon for my upcoming wedding.
