If you haven’t been to Piedmont Feed and Garden Center in Chapel Hill, run, don’t walk, and have a look at the changes that have happened in the year since it’s been under new ownership.(Actually, it might be faster to drive, and you wouldn’t want to miss any of the seasonally-changing merchandise, customer-appreciation sales, or fresh spring stock in the greenhouse!) The new owners bring expertise in horticulture and are experienced equestrians and they have added a new department for horse and rider. The staff is knowledgable, helpful and friendly. The products offered are thoughtfully chosen and high quality. The store has been reorganized and is bright and tidy and full of everything you’d expect to find, as well as a lot of really nice things you might not expect. One of my favorite things they’ve introduced are beautiful, artisanal ceramic planters and pots in the garden center. The trees and poinsettias they had at Christmas were top shelf! Things are really looking up at the feed and garden store, so stop by and have a look, even if you don’t need to feed anything or if plants die when you look at them(they can help you with that). You never know what you’ll find at the feed store.

The Piedmont Feed & Garden Center in orange county, North Carolina is one of the best feed centers we have been to. They seriously have everything you could think of needing for your garden, and/or animal/livestock needs. Their garden nursery section has a great array of plants to add to your home garden or landscape design, including mulch and compost options that are terrific. We have been pleasantly surprised with their animal feed that they have available. From chickens to rabbits to horses and even llamas, they have it. The rabbit feed alone is impressive, offering show quality rabbit feed, at great prices. To hold all of that feed, they have containers, which lends itself to great ways to getting everything you need at one shop. Add to that the selection of decorative pottery… right down to the Alebrije and Talavera style Mexican pottery is incredible. Top that off with fairy garden selections to add whimsy to your home garden. Located right off of highway 54, just a short drive down the road from Carrboro, North Carolina and Chapel Hill, this feed center is a great option away from the typical big box lawn and garden supply stores. I highly recommend it.

I’ve been patronizing Piedmont Feed fairly regularly for almost 9 years. They definitely have *great* customer service, to the point that sometimes you might feel a bit hovered-on, but the staff is always friendly and helpful. The have a decent selection of pet, horse, and garden supplies. Obviously, a smaller place can’t carry as much variety as a huge store, but the selection at Piedmont is certainly adequate and the prices are fair. We’ve ordered compost and mulch in bulk(delivered by dump truck) from them several times over the years and we think they have reasonable prices for the good-quality products offered. I very much recommend Piedmont Feed and Garden.
