The service me and my friends received here was horrible! Food was okay but nothing special. The servers had the worst attitudes. Service was so slow my friend went to the bar to buy a drink rather than order it at the table. Take your money elsewhere.

The place is nice. It was clean and had a great vibe. We had fried mushrooms and they were AMAZING! Might be the best I have ever had. My boyfriend had the shepherds pie. He was adding salt and pepper to the dish, not a great sign. I had the Rueben and I love it.

Would be five stars but had a run in with the locals once. Other than that, quick and food service. They are nice to groups of 10+ and treat everyone well. The food my friends and I have had are the bangers and mash, both types of nachos, the rib eye dinner, fish and chips, the French dip, and the fried egg burger. Each one of us was more than pleased with the food. Good food for decent prices any day of the week.

We come to Paddy’s often. I got the Fritters they are really good. Frank got the Shepard Pie A bit greasy but it’s okay. Some items are a bit pricey but hey that’s every now. I do recommend this place

I went to Paddy’s one evening with a friend for dinner. When we walked in, we were greeted by a small bar. As we walked in farther, we noticed a small dining area with four tables. We were greeted by a hostess who seated us at one of the tables. It was a rainy spring evening, so I was in the mood for something warm. I ordered a bowl of the cream of crab soup and the shrimp boil. My friend ordered the hot wings and the shepherd’s pie. When the food came it was tasty. The soup was delicious as was the shrimp boil. The crab soup was slightly different than I’ve ever had before. They bring you a little cup of what I can only think is sherry to put into the soup. All of the other cream of crab aoups I’ve had the sherry is cooked into the soup. Don’t be surprised when they bring you this little addition for your soup. The hot wings had a nice flavor. They were spicy, but not so overwhelming that you couldn’t taste the flavor. My only recommendation would be don’t go there if you are in a hurry, as our service was a tad slow and we kept having to ask the waitress for more drinks(I had soda). Over all, I would definitely go back and enjoy the tasty food.

Quaint locals pub. Quietly welcoming. Decent food at decent prices. Very cozy. A good place to hide away for a little while.

I’m reviewing this place purely as a bar, since I did not eat there yet. This is a fine place to stop off for a drink, though surprisingly small number of patrons on a Saturday. They have a few decent beer, no small brewery beers, but the standard Irish fare. The place is clean and well kept. The staff was nice, though the first bartender was not really paying good attention to the bar, had to flag him down for drink, and there were only 3 people at the bar. The rest of the staff was much better. They had live music on the Saturday I was there, the band was pretty good. I do agree with previous review, the seats in the dining room are kind if cheap looking, but that’s not a big deal to me. I’ll be back to try the food and hopefully that will not change my opinion.

Expensive prices cheap décor. Tried to eat there last weekend with my wife, and promptly walked out. They have plastic lawn chairs for seating. Seriously makes me question the quality of their ingredients. Not much of a selection of Irish food either. Never will we be eating there.

I give it a meh. I would’ve given it 2 stars but my friends were satisfied with their meals. The food — We had nachos for an appetizer — ok. The chips were good but the toppings were tasteless and they give you about a tablespoon of salsa. I had the fish and chips. The fries were well done(almost burnt) and the fish breading was rubbery. The fish inside was tasteless. The coleslaw looked like it had been setting out so I didn’t try it. My one friend had the Alfredo which he ate with a spoon(it looked like soup) but he seemed to like it. My other friend had the chicken. The salad side was lettuce and a piece of onion and she also had the coleslaw. The food was overpriced. The service — waitress was great but it took a long time for our appetizer and then the meal came minutes later. They didn’t seem too busy. The restaurant/bar — I didn’t get the Irish pub theme. From the looks of. the beer selection, not many Irish beers. Music was too loud. The patio looked nice. There are 2 bars and big tv’s in the one section. Parking is on the street and there are few spaces near it. I doubt I will try it again.

Nice fir a change of pace if you live here. Food could be better, but is reasonably priced. Nothing really Irish but a few flags but the french fries are awesome.

This place just depends on when you stop by. There are times the food is pretty good other times the food is poorly made. Almost every dish I have tried here more then once has had radically different result. The place would be 4 star restaurant if the quality of food was consistent. The service was good and I really like the old home this place is based in.

When you’re in Charles Town and want to enjoy a meal, beverage, casual environment and maybe even some live entertainment… this is the place to go. The food is good here, as is my favorite bartender, Summer! The crowd on a Friday night is very different from that on a Saturday… so I prefer the Saturday nights here when it’s a little less crowded. I can’t think of a beverage that you couldn’t find offered here and the staff is always pleasant. The menu items I suggest… whatever the ‘special’ is for the evening paired with their chocolate lava cake for dessert! =) I’m also a fan of their fish & chips meal… but it is quite a bit of food.

So-so food and horrible service. We waited nearly 45 minutes for a burger even though the restaurant was not that busy. No apologies, nothing. When we pointed out a problem with the bill(the restaurant did not honor an advertised special) the manager was very rude, basically telling us that he had changed his mind on the special and did not have to honor the advertisement. Charles Town doesn’t have many good restaurants, but we can at least find others that appreciate their customers.

The fish and chips are great! Very large portion of fish and it tastes really good too! The Irish Nachos, fried pickles, and that oyster thing they have on the apps menu are all freaking awesome! Keep up the good work. I’ve been a couple times and had the same server both times, I don’t remember his name but he’s a small framed mixed guy that is kick a$$!

My husband and I had dinner last night at Paddy’s. We were very disappointed with the food and service. This was our 3rd try. We were really hoping for a new place to frequent. I ordered the cream of crab soup, it was sooo salty. I apoligized to the waiter and told him that it was salty and I could not eat it. He said that it was probably the Old Bay that the sprinkled on top. He brought me another bowl with out the Old Bay. It too, was exstremely salty. I did not eat it. When he cleared the table he noticed that I did not eat it and said, «That was too salty too? Well that’s the way we make it» I can only think of one other time that I have ever sent anything back. I am not picky. When we got the check, he charged us for the soup! We will never go back. Dissapointed.

My parents and I ate here for the first time tonight and we ultimately didn’t care for it. We were seated upstairs for dinner service(which wasn’t ideal for my moms bad knee) and after awhile we began to feel bad for our waitress that was constantly having to go up and down the stairs to not only bring our food but bus the tables and also serve the downstairs customers and refill her own station(she had trouble finding straws). None of the upstairs tables were fully cleaned the entire time during our experience as we were the last customers to leave from upstairs. The bulb above our table was burnt out, luckily there was a nearby lamp that we turned on so we could read our menus. The room had two unlit fireplaces and was cold and drafty, I hate having to eat with my jacket on. The plates also seemed too big for the dishes. My moms Jamison Chicken was tough, over cooked and burnt. Her baked potato wasn’t even served with butter, etc so we had to ask for the common sense condiments… butter was even frozen and came in packets. She felt her«full size chicken breast» was on the small size and that her veggie mix had probably came from a freezer bag. My dads Shepherds Pie was soggy and my parents didn’t like it. My dad did like his french onion soup although it took some time for it to be made and it was small in portion. I had the fish and chips, the fish was good but a bit salty, my fries looked like they were fried in old/dirty grease. Overall, this place may be better for some drinks at the bar but I doubt I’ll be back for the food.

Paddys is a newly open addition to the downtown Charles Town area. Located in the building known as the Charles Washington Inn, Paddys has big shoes to fill. The building was called by other names between being the Charles Washington Inn and becoming Paddy’s, but the Charles Washington is what most people in the area have known the bulding to be called. Paddy’s has only been open a short time, and it does show the minor growing pains of a restaurant that has a fairly new staff. However, i do not want that to sound offputting. Although this is a new restaurant with a new staff, it is miles above most experiences I have had with new establishments. I have only eaten there twice so far, but both experiences have been good. When I went there for dinner, it was a fairly slow night with only a few tables having patrons. It took a few minutes for our server to get to us, not because of a crowd or lack of effort, but simply because our server was engaged with the few other patrons that were there who were chatting with her about previous visits to the building, how it had changed and such. The atmosphere is very relaxed and unhurried, but the service is not slow by any means. When our server arrived, I observed one minor misstep in that she did not know much about what types of beer was on draft or the selection of bottles offerred. However, this is fairly common in a new server and given the volume of selection they have here, Paddy’s may be better off having a beer list for the servers to bring to the table. Upon asking if the had Yuengling on tap, I was informed she didn’t know but she asked if I liked Sam Adams, which I do so I ordered that instead. Upon returning, she told me that she found they did have Yuengling on tap, so she brought me that instead, since it was what I initially asked for. It was a minor extra effort on her part, but little things like that can make a difference and it was much appreciated. We ordered two entrees: the fish and chips, and the Emerald Bay bacon wrapped shrimp and oysters, which we ordered simply because we’d had anything like that before. The Emerald Bay dish was a little to salty for me, but I’m not a fan of cooked oysters in general, favoring them raw on a halfshell to taste their natural briny sweetness. My wife, however, loved them… and she doesn’t even like oysters in any form. This is when another big positive for me occurred. Apparently not too many people order the Emerald Bay, so the chef asked to server for our feedback about the dish. After being in many restaurants where the chefs don’t even want to hear anything but compliments… or don’t want to be talked to at all, it was nice to see that the staff there is being proactive and trying to get feedback. For a place that’s only been open a short while, that shows a kind of open mind and willingness to change that is essential to succeeding in the restaurant business. If you’ve ever watched an episode of Gordon Ramsay’s «Kitchen Nightmares» or Robert Irvines«restaurant Impossible», then you’ve seen how a staff that is unwilling to listen to patrons or change can drag a restaurant down. Not that Paddy’s needs to change much. As I said, my wife enjoyed the Emerald Bay dish quite a bit, and my fish and chips was fantastic. The only problem I had that night was that the fish and chips was served with a lettuce leaf underneath, which resulted in the bottom coating of the fish starting to soften until I pulled it out from under there. The restaurant is HUGE compared to the old space, due to a large patio now being enclosed. The same contractor who built the addition apparently liked the place so much that he’s the one who purchased the place and opened Paddys. They also recently just hired a new member to the staff, Mike Deblois, who spent quite a bit of time in Ireland during culinary school, worked as a chef for the original Charles Washington Inn, and has just returned to the states from spending several years in Germany, so this already great place seems poised to get nothing but better. So for a new place, the only minor mistakes I could find was a lack of a beer/beverage list and an errant lettuce leaf under my fish. That’s a great start, and I look forward to many great meals there in the future. Welcome to Charles Town Paddy’s… We’re glad to have you.

I always get excited when there’s a new place in Charles Town :) I’m especially excited about an Irish pub-type place it’s just what Charles Town needs. I really really liked my first visit to Paddy’s. Their shepherds pie is really great and I am told their burgers are also fantastic. There was plenty of space in there on a Monday night when I went but I heard it’s pretty full on weekends which is a great sign for the place. According to my googling of the place(I apologize if any of these are inaccurate and will fix them if they are): — Can seat around 150 guests — There are two bars! — Nothing on the menu is over $ 20 — The building is where the Charles Washington Inn used to be — Upstairs area for special events/overcrowding
